Title: All bow down to the King of Laptops
PostedJuly 16, 2013
Yes, I would recommend this product
Let's face it, if you're considering this machine, you're not looking to sacrifice performance just because you want the portability of a laptop. The first and most obvious thing about this machine (other than how pretty it looks) is how large it is. It is thick, heavy, and when you realize how much power it packs, you'll realize it's worth every pound.
I purchased the 4900 chip with dual 780's, dropped in a 512gb SSD and the thing boots from a cold boot to windows desktop in less than 10 seconds. I haven't done a lot of gaming (yet), but have put Bioshock Infinite on it, played all day yesterday on Ultra settings at native resolution and never noticed a hiccup. It's just smooth, everything runs like butter. It almost begs to be tested.
The display is beautiful, keyboard has no flex, and the soft feel palm rests keep my wrists happy. At idle, I can literally not hear the fans, and during load, I am reminded that there are fans by the whisper-like sound of them revving in the background, but if you have any sound on with the fans on, the sound gets drowned out immediately.
Be warned however, that if you order yours with Windows 8, that no install media is included with your purchase, and that you'll have to contact support for a copy to install on any new hard drives you plan to install.
Overall, this machine meets every expectation I had for it. I knew it was going to be big and heavy, but I wanted a gaming rig that would stay future proof for years to come, and I know that I've gotten what I wanted with thiis machine. If you're on the fence about whether you need 2 graphics cards over 1 (as I was) and your budget allows for it, don't hesitate for this machine. The build quality just makes my old Sager feel like a fisher-price machine in comparison. I love my purchase.
Pros:powerful, dual-graphics card capability, keyboard, large display
Cons:weight
