Yes, I would recommend this product
2008, when i first got The Vostro.... the dealer told me it can run 1 year non stop....
2012....when i finally got a new laptop. i decided to test it.......
3 months, the time it kept on running...
Pros:
1.Light Weight. those wanting ultrabook, just buy a vostro and upgrade it. u will save huge money.

No, I do not recommend this product.
Quality of outer material is not good. i have bought this laptop 1.2 years back. Now side portions are breaking while open and closing the laptop.
especially monitor attached portion.one side of section gone inside. There is no use to place screw now. because its became big hole.
its fully plastic support. i dont know what to do now. cost of replacement is very high. arround 8500 Inr.
Battary also damaged. now no warranty after 1 year. so if you want to buy this kind of laptop, we can consider for one year of life. thats all.

Yes, I would recommend this product
it such a great lappy ever and such low cost, see its design it such a fantastic and its WLED screen gives highly resolution, i m 100% satisfied after buy this my dream lappy. I suggested to buy this coz no one can gives u these facilities in some bucks and DELL such a good name in lappyyyyyyyyyyyyy thanks friend

I must confess that Dell Vostro 1014 is thoroughly a professional computer.It gives you every thing that you want in a genuine laptop for working at home or at office on your computer.
The only and only deficiency in this computer is that its sound quality is not upto a standard.
If you donot care about this loopwhole in buying a laptop,their is no one to touch this laptop in this price sector and Intel Core 2 Duo processor is absolutely impressive.
I am a B.Tech. Graduate,trust me-BUY IT.

Yes, I would recommend this product
I bought this inexpensive laptop as a backup and find myself using it all the time. I was intrigued with the idea of Ubuntu and wondered how I would adjust to a new OS. I find it preferable to Windows 7. I think it is faster and I like the graphics better. There is a little user adjustment but its not bad at all.I also like the track-pad and key board. The keyboard flexes a bit but overall has good response and feel. I type a lot so this is important to me. I find the track-pad to be one of my favorites. The buttons are light which I like. The pointing is responsive and accurate. With Ubuntu there is no other software to buy. They have an Ubuntu software store but everything is free as far as I can see. Comes with Firefox. I like Chrome and dowloaded it from the Ubuntu store online. Open office is provided. You can save and send in office 03 format. There is free Ubuntu One included which is a cloud based back up service.My laptop came with a 1 core Celeron and 1GB of Ram. It runs fine for me and seems to accommodate numerous open windows. Kind of shocked at the good performance. The hardware all works. The lid is sturdier than other laptops I have seen and owned. Screen image is very good but is glossy so watch out for reflections. Frankly its about like most units on this score.

I got my 1014 almost 18 months back and it just lived up to the expectations and Trust.
WHY AM I SO SATISFIED ?
The build quality is good,Small in size for my travel ( a lot of it) , big enough for me to edit photos, design my website, work with spread sheets and presentations etc..

Now the details : The finishing is good with black color and good quality chassis, responsive key board and mouse pad. The end of the these are the two main things which connect you with the system. USB ports are still tight even after plugging and unplugging few thousand times. I often use the front card reader slot and in fact got a SD card permanently inserted into it as a handy transfer device. I seldom used the Optical drive and it is working fine. Other noticeable factor is the LESS HEAT generated even after prolonged use. There were few occasions when i left it on my bed, blocking the bottom ventilation and the system shut down after reaching the heat limit, and was back to life when i pressed the start button ..
I never plugged in a Telephone line and rarely used the wired Network option. The Wifi was always good and never gave me driver trouble.
As many people pointed out in other reviews, the built in speakers are not good, but i never got this system to play music!, I plug a head phone when i watch movie, listen music etc.. Dell should think about relocating the audio jack to the right side of the system as a straight plugging headphone jack is uncomfortable when you watch a movie lying on your bed. :).
Screws, Hinges all in place even after some real rough travel where the system was exposed to all bad elements - dust, moisture, vibrations, shock etc.. The charger is in top condition still, no loose contacts and sparking joints so far. ( i keep the wires neat..)
The integrated WEB CAM is cool. I use skype conference and video quality is good over Broad band lines, audio is clear ( use a head phone to listen properly, when you are in a public place)
I use Windows 7 Ultimate and use the system for image editing, basic video editing & some common office applications. System usage is very high and use the " Hibernate when lid closed" option to save time. The system gave no memorable troubles so far.
I use a Dell cordless blue tooth mouse as i love using a mouse. Some times the system forgets the mouse and i have to re-install it. The battery was changed once as it developed some problem as i connected the system to an erratic power supply. I plan to upgrade my RAM to 4 GB - not because the system is slow, just need some more of it , thats all
VALUE 4 MONEY :- it was the cheapest DELL model available then and i can say that i got enough work done on this system, still going strong.
After getting this system, We got more than 25 Vostro 1015 for our office ( every one wanted that extra inch for same money !!). What more you want from a satisfied first user?.

A really nice laptop model..Everything's almost perfect for those on-the-go except for the speakers (built-in)..Would like to recommend it to everyone..Excellent quality at such a low price..Good for students

No, I do not recommend this product.
Construction seems "cheap" and I am glad I don't have to carry it around. The sound is horrible but I have it jacked into a TV so that wasn't a deal killer. No HDMI which is odd in this day and age. The wireless went dead and I had to mindlessly play with the settings and finally set and reset the static/dynamic IP address and it came back to life. Must have been a config setting corruption issue. The trackpad is one of the worst I've ever had. Double clicking via tapping on the pad seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes it works, other times not. Since I use a wireless trackpad (Unisen iPazzPort which works great, BTW) I never use the native pad. But the machine does what I need--playing video out the VGA port to my older 720p TV. Handles Netflix and video (even HD) fine. Plus it was cheap on a Black Friday deal. Not a very good laptop if that's what you want to use it for but as a semi-HTPC it works well.

This computer is small and packed and just great in a lot of ways... yet it has teh WORST output I have ever heard on a laptop !! You can hardly hear it even at maximum volume ! Sadly, I may have to exchange it for another...

Features and functionalities are fine. But speaker sound quality sucks. Before buying I had two options Toshiba and this one. I selected this one considering weight but sound quality really sucks.

I bought dell vastro 1014 3 months back. Im using this sap fi/co .. im happy with this product. it gives long batery backup... simple easy to carry...... till now i didnt face any problem...... the only one problem i.e low volume.... even closed environment it gives less volume......
