I run design software that gets very complicated. This machine sails through it all with ease. Very little wait time even in very large models. I love the automatic driver downloads for printers and other devices. If you need a machine that processes quickly, has plenty of RAM, and great graphics; the T 1600 is the one. I just purchased my second one and am looking to add another. Good job, Dell!!

Yes, I would recommend this product
Even better than the stellar T1500, the T1600 is the new standard for our department. With the Xeon E3 1225, 8 GB DDR3 ECC, the nVidia Quadro FX 2000 we have a ISV certified, Autodesk approved system that cranks up the Matlab Benchmark again and run the PROBE Baltic Fortran model w Intel Visual Composer XE 30% faster than the 2008 T7400 w dual Xeon X5430, 32 GB ECC and dual Quadro FX1700 that was 3 times more expensive. Dell totally rules!
Pros: Not expensive. Solid metal case. Easy to order via the DELL website. Fast shipping.
Cons: Cheap. A cheap metal case, I hear a hissing sound from time to time, it's really stressing me, due to the harddisk frame slightly touching the external case.
Cons2: A nightmare to upgrade. I needed to add a 2nd harddisk after a while. Should be simple, right? It was a total nightmare to get the mounting bracket via the DELL hotline, spent almost 2 hours on the phone, the technician was very helpful but it's simply very difficult to find the right piece on the internal DELL website for this machine.
Con3: the DELL website didn't say that the default graphics card comes with only a VGA output. Couldn't connect any reasonable screen to it and had to order an additional graphics card.
Conclusion: I need this machine for work, I use it every day, 10 hours per day. I don't care about the money really. This machine has cost me tons of time and nerves and is still stressing me out with its hissing noise. Will be very, very careful if ever buying from Dell again.
