Review:With the 2 servers I purchased (4U of rack space), I have access to 96 cores and 512GB of memory. This enables me to virtualize an entire 42U rack system with ESXi, while only taking 4U of rack space, and without sacrificing any sort of power.
Maintaining, servicing, and setting up this product was incredibly easy. Dell Rapid Rails allowed me to seamlessly integrate the product to the very top of the rack, although the weight of the server necessitated a friend to help me out. The tool less chassis allowed me to add expansion cards with a minimal of downtime. I had only needed to replace a drive once, which luckily held no important data.
I unfortunately, and foolishly, did not purchase any network IO cards, leaving me with the 4 Ethernet ports on the back. I had virtual machines requiring their own dedicated IO port, so I had to spend more money on purchasing 4 more 4-port Intel expansion cards (8 more ports for each server).
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this Dell product. The 48 core beast allows me to virtualize a significant portion of my company, and its intuitive features make it great for both experienced and inexperienced users.
