Great Basic Gigabit Switch

PostedJuly 26, 2012
Yes, I would recommend this product
We needed a high grade switch that could handle gigabit speeds to connect our network of 16 computers. This switch literally took 5 minutes to set up (and that was just to plug in the cables.)
In fact, this switch has performed so well that we are getting three more, one for each of our two branch offices and an additional one for our corporate office.

Fantastic, Simple, and Effective

USAGE: small 31 computer render farm and to reduce wifi traffic.
This product (when purchased) was the cheapest solution for gigabit speeds for the school to connect the lab. We were able to hook up all 31 computers (to two of these switches), plug in the power and have instant communication between the workstations. This system has been running full bore for several months now piping a full data flow to every single computer for high quality renders, internet use, and the NAS. We haven't had to do a thing and the system runs without a hitch and without any excess noise as a regular computer.
Pros:render farm, networking

Good product for the price

Installed in server / network room so noise was not an issue. Purchased two to have a backup in case of any downtime. Previous switch was a Dell 2324 that gave at least 3+ years of service. Compared to other 24 port switches find this to be great value.

I have used this switch in literally dozens of professional offices with never having one single failure in over 3 years. It provides high bandwidth availability with it's default settings without having to configure the switch.

Good Product

I am not sure what the other reviewer was referring too. The unit I received didn't have a fan so there was no noise at all. Unit works as described, I haven't played with the vlan much but I know it works. In my opinion you will have a hard time finding a better value than this switch, when it is on sale.

Horribly Noisy

PostedJanuary 11, 2010
No, I do not recommend this product.
Unpacked this and plugged it in, it is so noisy that I didn't even bother to set it up. This is totally unsuitable for a small office environment due to the fan noise level. If you do not have a dedicated server room or a hardware closet isolated from your work area this is not the switch for you.
I did not expect this unit to be silent but it is in a room with nine other Dell computers and it is loud enough that it swamps the noise of all of them together.
