Yes, I would recommend this product
Pros:
1. Its lightweight. Yeah, its the best thing about it. You can carry it anywhere with no issue. It comfortably fits in college bag.
2. SkullCandy Speakers are really Brilliant! I never expect such a brilliant sound quality for a laptop.
3. Battery Backup is Great. It gives around 5 to 5.30 hours backup if you work normally on power saver mode.
4. Multiple touch pad! Its absolutely brilliant of Dell to include Multiple touch pad to this product. I can zoom, rotate any photos, swap with tabs in browser. And much more without using mouse arrow.
5. It doesn't make any noise plus heating seems no issue in this lappy. You will barely require cooling pad.
6. 3 USB 3.0 ports, 2 on left and 1 on right, makes you feel contended.
7. Within budget, its money saving.
8. 6Gb RAM and 3rd Gen i7 processor makes your work faster! Provides excellent performance!
9. It boots faster after closing and opening the lid. It takes only 2-4 seconds. (You can easily kill mosquito with it and can resume your work faster like ultrabook, just kidding :D )

1. I have absolutely no issues or complaints regarding this product. However only one thing struck me. When my laptop came, after just 3 days, the 1TB HDD started showing error. I wasn't able to make partition of the drive. Plus it was showing constantly BSOD, booting the windows many times. So i called Dell technicians and they asked me to debug my HDD. I did what they said, but all in vein. So they registered my complaint, and within just 2 days, their onsite technicians came and replaced my HDD. It was really faulty from starting. Now my lappy is working seamlessly! Here I will give 10/10 service rating to Dell :) They owned my trust for sure!

I am more of a hardcore gamer. The nVidia GT 640M 2gb graphics card will surely warm your heart. I am running GTA 4 at high configuration without single glitch or obstacle. I have also played Crysis Warhead at high confg. You can easily choose on which graphics processor you want to play the game. Graphics looks totally AWESOME on this laptop!

Very nice laptop for moderate gaming and doing office.
The Skullcandy speaker! It designed almost underneath of the laptop but WOW, the quality is awesomely loud and clear! Enjoy watching movie with it!
But it took too long to fully charge, roughly 3 hours more or less. Great battery life for doing office(4-5h), decent for gaming (1-2h).
Windows startup is slightly slower due to 5400rpm hard drive.
Pros:nice speaker, nice design, great touchpad gestures, backlit keyboard, 3 hotkeys, 4 usb3.0 ports, lightweight
Cons:take decade to fully charge, touchpad is clicky should be a little soft

Overall laptop is good it is fast and works smoothly. Me and my friend bought the same after reviewing and comparing all the components of the system with other. His laptop is working fine but mine had several recurring problems, I called dell and they changed the whole system with a brand new system(thanks to dell's customer satisfaction policy). But the heating issue is still there in the new machine also. I have a strong request to dell that they should make changes in BIOS to change the setting for fan speed. I found that the fan of the system doesn't response very well. It will only start when the laptop is too hot. As the configurations of this system are so high so fan should run always(in slow mode), to keep system cool.
Pros:lovely honeycomb finishing, garaphic card is awesome., speed is very good.
Cons:heating., windows 8 is bad i hate it.

I will forward a note to our engineers regarding your suggestion of a more active venting option. The reason for the conservative fan activation is because of customer complaints on noise and shortened battery life. But, I too would like a choice.

This is an awesome laptop for both daily use and moderate gaming.
I do have a issue though, the battery takes forever to charge. I tried to set the dell smart charge to off but still no change. Can someone throw some light on it?

No, I do not recommend this product.
very very unsatisfied with this products...just received 2 days earlier and have lots of problem with it..
1) wireless connectivity problem.. always gets disconnected and mostly limited connectivity.
2) All app cannot be opened.. cannot connect to market, facebook, skype, maps via app...
3) Very slow, My previous 1st generation i-3 boots faster than this 3rd generation i-5..
4) if possible,I want refund........

Yes, I would recommend this product
Great design first, I have to say. It has a sleek look. Performance is also good. Touch pad and keypad both are nice (touch pad keys are a bit hard). 3 buttons for dell quickset are nicely placed. However they were better in XPS, with touch enabled buttons and indicators for wireless and caps lock. Speaker is also great. However JBL speakers were more powerful. Booting speed is awesome. It boots instantly. Charger Could have been more powerful. It takes long time in charging the battery.
I will give it a 5 star.

this arrived to me around 2 weeks ago.
it is quite fast (8 GB RAM + core i7), but not exactly as fast as i expected it should be. however my friend did compliment its speed. the space is very big (1 TB), so i can store many things inside.
i am not a gamer really, i mainly use this for office work and surfing the net. so i cannot comment on the graphic card performance so much.
the appearance is not that luxurious. it looks like an old laptop.
overall, i think this laptop is very good in many aspects. i run the performance test on windows 7 and here i get

This turned out to be the perfect replacement for my earlier inspiron. This laptop has all that one requires: 4 USB ports, decent battery life, good computing power.
The drawbacks:
1.The caps lock indicator light is very idiotically placed on the key itself, and hence once can't see it while typing. This really ticked me off! One expects better brains and logic from Dell.
2. The touch pad keys are hard, which is very "clickety". Wish it were a little soft.

After I updated my Windows 7 Home, I ran the perfomance index test and these are the scores after the updates:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz = 7.1
Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB = 5.9
Graphics Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 = 5.0
Gaming graphics 1696 MB Total available graphics memory = 6.8
Primary hard disk 423GB Free (453GB Total) = 5.9
Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB = 5.9
Graphics Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 = 5.0
Gaming graphics 1696 MB Total available graphics memory = 6.8
Primary hard disk 423GB Free (453GB Total) = 5.9
If I'm a gamer, I think the graphics engine will defaults to the Nvidia processor (a 6.8 score) otherwise the 14R SE will defaults to 5.0 (Intel Graphics 4000) to conserve power.
I wished I upgraded the RAM to 8GB and probably the hardisk to achieve the 6 scores.
Then again, for the price paid, I bought myself a bargain, thanks for giving a more than average laptop. Considering price and performance, I rate this as a full 5 stars work and play laptop.

Pros: Works well when it actually works. Great graphics, nice music, good for gaming.

Ive contacted Dell in Australia and it will take at least one week to check all the problems, although I managed to take a screenshot to show the BSOD. Very disapointed i cant use my laptop for a minimum of two weeks, not what i expected from Dell.

This is simply the best inspiron of all, attractive design and monstrous spec with a reasonable value (I opted for 3 years warranty) and still nailed the value. And it seems dell has responded to the previous error mentioned.
*I would like to give 4.5 star due to the mediocre battery runtime, but none are available :)

Awesome spec but facing 0xc000007b error

Yes, I would recommend this product
The spec is awesome and price is affordable. It is mainly for gaming but couldn't afford system like alienware. Asus gaming laptop is an alternative but still more than my budget so i end up with 14R SE. Currently playing Diablo3 without problem. But system prompt 0xc000007b error when i run other games like Battlefiled3, Dirt3, NFS etc. I am suspecting that the MCafee is the one causing this error. I am using MCafee because i bought it with a 3years subscription, maybe it is a bad idea to have MCafee. Can dell help me to solve the 0xc000007b error?

Problems with internet connection

No, I do not recommend this product.
the specs were impressive, audio and video quality is satisfactory, love the large storage space and processor.
that was until I faced a problem with the wireless connection.
one day I switched on the laptop and my wireless connection was "limited access" so I tried repairing it and I got the BSOD.
ever since then I am faced with problems with my wireless connection.
I sometimes get the BSOD while troubleshooting, other times I would get the "local area connection" adapter is not working properly, sometimes I would get the "local area connection" is experiencing driver/hardware related problem.
this problem is a great hindrance for me as a student as I need the internet for practically every other thing.
I hope Dell can help resolve this matter.

I just bought my new Dell. It’s very powerful spec to me. The cooling system is very good. Thanks to BTX technology (I think).
Cons:
Why Dell drop the price within a month? (RM200 cash redemption). Not fair for the first few buyer i think.
