I think, 5420 takes a long time to charge the battery (3hr20min) when compared to my old laptop or other dell laptop(1,5-2,5hr).

Connection Drop in Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi status bar shows connected but mozilla firefox says This page cant be displayed and when I am doing Facebook it happens that It automatically disconnects but shows connected in Wi-Fi status. It happens often.

I bought this product on 05/01/'13.Though satisfied with the impressive performance,I am very much dissatisfied with the customer service.My inspiron's service tag cannot be registered on the website as it shows another product.I called and e-mailed them several times and no response from their part even after 4 weeks!

A good laptop if treated well

Yes, I would recommend this product
A laptop that conforms to the need of the students like myself. Doesn't give up with games running, and gives an excellent battery life. Fairly decent screen, and an above average sound system. On the other hand, we have better sound on comparable laptops(Never been a hindrance to me though.
On the downside, gaming does make the keys go all creaky(they creak even as I type), and the overall build quality of the plastics and the hinge firmness is not assuring. The screen starts vibrating funny in, say, a train ride.
Otherwise a good deal. I wonder why the guys at Dell didn't attach an Nvidia sticker on the machine when core i5 and Windows 7 have their real estate.

I just bought this laptop last week and i found out that this is laptop that i really hope to have for years! and of course it's affordable.

No, I do not recommend this product.
This product is overall average, I am using this from 1 month the problems which I am experiencing are:
1. Connection Drop in Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi status bar shows connected but Internet Explorer says This page cant be displayed and when I am doing Facebook it happens that It automatically disconnects but sows connected in Wi-Fi status. It happens often.
2. Not able to update some of the apps in Windows 8.

Hi,
I have bought this lap on Nov-19 and today I explore into it.
I have used another lap of diff company before when compared to it this is better to it.
Lap didn't get heat so much when compared to the previous one.
It's very fast and the lap appears very less weight.

driver power state failure

No, I do not recommend this product.
received on 15 nov, started it up n had a power driver state failure reboot that caught me off guard.. it tried rebooting constantly.
other matters include how ie 10's failure to access certain sites n I had to resort good old firefox
a few more win 8 functions that just isn't friendly especially viewing images and accessibility

Yes, I would recommend this product
This laptop has a nice built quality, excellent sound, easy to carry and performance is quite good but I am disappointed with the wireless connection.
The laptop frequently disconnects from network when I am using my wifi, I never faced this problem when using my old HP laptop & moreover I keep the wifi router quite close to my room. My friend too has a dell laptop but he never faced any wireless connection issues.
Apart from this the laptop is very good. Definitely a buy.

Yes, I would recommend this product
I bought this laptop in a budget..but i was surprise with the spec. like 3rd generation intel i5, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GT630M 1GB dedicated...And the sound quality is incredible
..Good battery life..I'm a student, It's enough for me for do assignment, playing some games, surf nets, and maybe for software development in future....
The only disappointed is that hard drive...its a bit slower than other laptops...
Highly recommended for students, its great specification with great price. YOU will NOT REGRET deal with DELL.=)

I have been using this laptop for a while now and found out myself eligible to write a review.
It has everything you expect from an Inspiron model and much more.
PROS:
1.Excellent graphic performance.
2.Latest processors.
3.Good sound quality.
4.Decent battery life.
5.Lighter,slimmer,faster than previous models.
6.Classic design.
CONS:
1.Mediocre build qualiy.
2.Product gives a cheap plasticy feel when held.
A little better build and I would have given it a 5 star.But its acceptable.Recommended strongly for students/home users.
Finally,I'm one more happy customer of DELL:-)
