Hi people,it's 4 in the morning and i'm sitting here wide awake in New Delhi on a week night, happy as a peach. That's because i just indulged, despite all logic/instinct, in buying an Adamo XPS.I knew at the very onset that i better check all utility/performance/investment/value concerns at the door on this one.Because i'm not buying me a machine, i'm buying something the sheer artistic value of which alone would give me enough joy to make it worth the investment. This from someone who has been a vaio loyalist & atleast claims to be knowledgable in design values. But there's more to it, this thing actually performs!! Besides being loaded to the gills with innovative equipment/applications it truly packs quite a wallop into a form factor 9.99 mm thin(World's thinnest). Moreover the solid state inbuilt 128 gb drive is accompanied by an external 500 gb hard disk & DVD-RW optical drive, that truly are in the same design league as their parent component. It's made of machined aluminium, including a mat finish metal keyboard, even the display is HD & made with glass for god's sake!!But hey,i'm not here to write an ad.On the flip side, everything seems to be external including the DVI & RJ-45 ports. That's my main grouse. Considering this is truly a high end machine that's been very meticulously engineered,it's only befitting that all external hardware/extensions be built into an exclusive custom made docking station matching the machine school of design and thus avoiding any wire issues, which are clearly an eye sore for anyone discerning enough to buy this bundle of joy.It takes care of any issue regarding battery power without adding on a bulky attachment that defeats the whole purpose of aesthetic values that this laptop exemplifies.I think IBM tried something similar years ago but it was a failed attempt at best.My faith in Dell has been solidly founded/reaffirmed based on this product & feel quite safely that if your team can do this(for which i feel everyone should send them money & other fine things for),they can surely take it a step further.I for one wouldn't think twice before shelling out for such an augmentation.Get to it now! And tell me when you're done,i'll be waiting with wallet in hand :-)
P.S:Here's another idea, what if besides integrating all peripheral devices in one dock platform, the docking station could also have wireless connectivity? That way even if you might be sitting in another room or far away, you can be linked to a full workbase with simply your wafer thin machine.I for one would pay unreasonable amounts of money for such a clean hardware advantage.
