Pros:Very easy to install
works fine
Cons:way to much information when trying to fine compatible software. A novice like me gets confused.
basic software should come with product.

Replace CD ROM with DVD RW drive

Yes, I would recommend this product
Very easy for one with experience replacing motherboard chips, drives during 1980's Apple and IBM systems. Also used vaccum for removing dust bunnies from cabinet. Thanks to technician from Dell Support for suggesting correct and affordable replacement drive.
Pros:Correct chassis, power socket and cable connectors. Jumper was in correct position! Very easy to loosen retaining bolts and remove two only. Slide old drive out, new drive in. Easy to attach cable and power plug. Install and tighten retaining bolts. Primary Goal Reached to quickly backup 7 gigs to two DVD's in 95 minutes! Well worth peace of mind!
Cons:No instructions or diagrams with refurbished drive. Difficult for old hands to grip and remove flat cable connector. No mention of using cable connector pulling tool.
