Great HDD. Inexpensive and dependable.

Yes, I would recommend this product
I bought this HDD for data storage and to save a backup system image as I have my OS, Windows 8 Pro 64bit, on a 128GB SSD. I tested it the other day and it was reading at 125730 MB/Sec and writing at 61692 MB/Sec. This is fantastic for an HDD. My MB is SATA III and I am using AHCI instead of IDE for the interface, which helps the speed as well. My last Western Digital HDD read at about 35000 and wrote at about 20000, so this is a tremendous improvement. Still not anywhere near the speed of the SSD my OS is on, but hey, for an HDD, it rocks! Great price as well.
Pros:secondary drive for data

WD 500 GB HDD is quiet and fast, but incomplete

Pros:
This hard drive is extremely quiet (only makes a little noise during spinup during system startup) and fast. It only takes about 15 seconds to backup any new or changed files on my system using an XCOPY batch file.
Cons:
Be advised that this is a REPLACEMENT drive and therefore does not include the 2 mounting screws (#6-32 x 1/4") or the SATA III (6 Gbps) data cable. I bought a SATA II (3 Gbps speed) cable uptown, which added $22 to the cost! My Dell Inspiron 660 had the mounting rails included, so I didn't have to find those somewhere. Negotiated signaling speed with my 2-foot long SATA II cable ended up being 3 Gbps, which is still fast.
Summary:
Excellent HDD, but Dell's web site should include the information that this is not a kit and that mounting hardware and cable are NOT included.
Pros:e-mail, excel vba macro programming, web browsing

Nice Hard Drive

Great product. My computer was getting crowded so this was an inexpensive way to fix this problem and at this price no wonder they are out of stock. Fast shipping as well. Installation was the tricky part. The instructions from Dell were good but they left out a key element. If your PC doesn't reconize it like mine does, you have to go in to setup at the reboot screen (F2) and change somethings. I spent 2-3 hours trying to figure it out. If Dell would have included this step total time would have been 20 minutes top.
