Yes, I would recommend this product
I was looking for a solution to run optical audio from my laptop to an audio receiver. The soundblaster x-fi surround 5.1 pro fit my needs perfectly. Now I have perfect dolby digital 5.1 audio for all my games, blu-rays, & music thank u soundblaster & dell excellent product.

Great external soundcard

Yes, I would recommend this product
I had some programs that I needed for work that the onboard soundcard would not play audio for, even with the latest drivers and latest software patches. Got tired of using USB headphones just to do part of my job and got this. Solved the problem - plays sound for all programs just fine. Easy to install - no wierdness or hickups. I use this on a desktop pc and am very pleased with it. Sound is great!

Yes, I would recommend this product
The unit provides very good sound particularly in comparison to a laptop's on-board audio. The negative is you have to hook it up all the time if you're being mobile with it. I was looking for audio interface for recording external sources (particularly voice) with good quality. So didn't look at this for its output capability, which is pretty decent. Don't hear much of any noise from unit in recordings so that is good. Haven't found the remote that comes with it to be very useful - really only good for volume control it seems; the mute button doesn't really do anything. It does get a little warm when being used - not sure what to make of that, but it's not alarmingly warm. Other than that it is up to my expectations for its intended use.

Great sound

Yes, I would recommend this product
I bought this device because I could not get surround to work using the onboard audio. I have a Dell Studio 17 and thought the sound was good until I hooked this up. All I can say is wow!!
I've got an older set of Altec Lansing 4.1 dual subs rated at 200 watts per channel. I was using them with my desktop for years and always had an audiophile type sound card, ie Soundblaster Audigy, Titanium etc...
When I bought the laptop I knew I was not going to be able to achieve the same level of quality in sound. But now I can say that I was wrong, this little box produces amazing clarity in music, and is also great for gaming.
The installation was easy with no issues at all. I disabled the onboard audio, even though the new device worked perfectly without disabling.
You can't go wrong especially at the price. I am so glad I bought this...it's been a year since I have heard the level of quality coming from my speakers again.

Yes, I would recommend this product
After installing this product, I had to double-check my speakers to make sure they were the same. 'Cause they sure didn't sound like it! Wow. Best thing I've ever done with that kind of money...talk about value!
