Great for complete backups

We have five Dell PC's and two Dell laptops in our household and were looking for an easy solution for individual complete backups for each computer. The WD 1.5TB Elements external hard drive solved our problem. We now have a total of seven of the WD 1.5TB's up and running perfectly, just plugged them in - one for each computer and plenty of backup room at a very reasonable price. Dell shipped the order the very same day, which was on a thursday and we received them on the following Tuesday. We were able to track the shipment through the entire process thanks to info supplied to us from Dell.

Yes, I would recommend this product
This external hard drive does it's job. I bought it to back up my main hard drive and it does the job well. I use Macrium Reflect free edition software and have no problems whatever.
I originally connected this external hard drive to an older computer and the bios would not recognize it, so I had to unplug the hard drive to reboot or the computer would hang during boot. With my new Dell XPS computer, I don't have that problem.
This external hard drive does what I purchased it for, so I am happy with it. I do wish it would have come with backup software, but I found free software online, so that suffices.

One good and one bad

No, I do not recommend this product.
I purchased 2 of the 1.5TB Elements External Hard Drives in July 2010. The first one worked fine, but the 2nd one has major issues with reading/writing files. It causes my computer to freeze up when working in programs that have the files open and basically slows down my computer.

I've always wanted more space on my computer for my music, and photos. Well, this is just what I needed. It's easy to connect, and understand. Very simple. Now I have all the space I need. Great price for an external 1.5 TB hard drive.

Yes, I would recommend this product
I added this to my desk top so that I can save all of my TIVO programming. It is mostly in HD and also gets converted for use with my Zune HD so it needs a lot of hard drive space and this works well for what I need.

I got this hard drive a a main backup hard drive. This is an excellent hard drive, does what is expected. I mainly backup file with it then leave it in a desk drawer till I need to back up again.

My son is a music producer and I wanted to get something to hold some of his work, outside of the CDs and to free up space on his laptop hard drive. He also creates a lot of videos on youtube and I would like for him to keep a copy. This was the perfect gift for him and he is happy. I am expecting it to last a long time.

I had been looking for an external drive at a reasonable price to run on my home network. When I saw this one at Dell and at a reasonable price ($89) I could not pass it up. This drive is exactly what I was looking for. It has plenty of storage (1.5TB)and I can access it from any computer in the house. Thankss Dell!

This drive does everything I wanted it to do. I plugged it in and it came right up. It installed its drivers in Windows 7 without any extra prompts needed. It worked perfectly and is making a great backup and portable drive. I would recommend this drive in a heart beat.

I gave it a 5 star rating because it is performing as it should, at this time. I've only owned it for a month and a half. Of course long term is the key and if it should turn out to be a dud I'll let this forum know. Dell had a great price for much desired storage needs. This product is nothing fancy and very basic. It came without any software to install. Just plugged it into my windows 7 machine, 7 saw it and installed it...simple! I don't care 'bout write speed, I use it for video storage (recorded tv, ect.) and it works very good. It runs COOL and very QUITE!

All my pictures and music are easily available on the external hard drive It was vey easy to plug in and store all the treasures that I have accumulated over the years especialy when I've alredy had two internal hard drives crash and all was lost.

Yes, I would recommend this product
had one primarily for backing up media files e.g. photos and music. i like the fact that it is easy to use and portable. connected it to my lg bluray and watched photos on the big screen and played music on the stereo receiver.
