WinTV HVR 1600

No, I do not recommend this product.
If you're wanting a TV Tuner Card to hook up to your (No Box Top) Cable Tv, all you'll get from this card is your basic ANALOG Channels. While the came in WHEN using Windows Media Center's Live TV (Wouldn't work on WinTV7 v7 no matter what updated drivers I installed for Windows 7 System), DIGITAL Channels were hopeless via Cable. They MIGHT have worked via Over-the-Air (ATSC) but Qam IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO BRING IN LOCAL DIGITAL CABLE AND IT FAILED - NOT ONE STATION! So, if all you want is Cable Analog and OTA Digital/Analog, the this tuner is for you. If you want to WATCH one stations while RECORDING another from the same input source, then opt for the 2250 model. It is the same as this 1600, but with dual tuners on each connection. As for the IR Blaster Remote, it DOES work in Windows 7 Media Center Live TV WITHOUT THE BOX TOP SET-UP as long as you place the trasmitter receiver within line of your Remote. Unit works as stated above with Windows 7, although it may not say so. However, DO NOT EXPECT TO GET AS CLEAR A RECEPTION with cable hooked up to this tuner, as you do with cable hooked up to your HDTV in the Living/Family room even with the same 1080p capable receivers. Mine hooked up to Dell's SR2320L 1080 LED HD Monitor was much grainer than that on my Samsung 40" LCD 1080P HDTV. And you'll have to put Windows Medica TV Live in Zoom 4 in order to fill the whole screen. Unfortunately, that option ONLY works in LIVE TV, not Internet Mode. Also, DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN CONNECTING YOUR COAX CABLES, BECAUSE THE CONNECTIONS WILL COME LOOSE AND JUST TURN AND TURN. USE ONLY FINGER TIGHT - which is not all that great for DIGITAL connections without causing 'flickering' AND/OR 'unstable connection' PROBLEMS.
Pros:live tv via win 7 mdc, tv video streaming

A Very Viewable Broadcast Experience

Yes, I would recommend this product
The media center software is easy to use for me. The remote works well and is functional. The only broadcast experience lacking is the FM radio. The FM radio version would be well worth the price!
