No, I do not recommend this product.
I ordered this cable when I purchased a new lap top that runs with Windows 8 - so the cable is useless. I really wish that Dell customer service had informed me when they processed my order that the cable was not needed. Now I need to go through the hassle of shipping the cable back.

Dell sell other ones like there to transfer programs so do not need buy new copies. Could of just used external hard drive do what this does which what did.

Yes, I would recommend this product
Easy to use. Made transfer to new computer very easy. The only problem is that you will need a monitor for each computer in order to complete the process.

No, I do not recommend this product.
This product works OK for basic file transfer, but not sure it does what we'd really hoped, which was to transfer email, other settings, and all the rest. Easier for files/folders to just use an external drive. Dell makes great computers, and the PC environment is a great tool for work, but Apple has it all over Windows when it comes to file and system transfer with Time Machine. Takes all of the time/stress/hassle out of upgrading computers.

Yes, I would recommend this product
I'm a novice. My old Windows Vista laptop needed replacement. I thought I would have to take both the old computer & new Dell computer with Windows 7 into a computer shop to get my information transferred over to the new computer because I certainly couldn't do something that complicated. I saw this transfer cable on Dell's website & thought I'd give it a try to save a large bill at the computer shop. Wow!! I'm a wizard. It was fast & easy. If I can do it, anybody can.

Yes, I would recommend this product
Works just as it should if you are careful and follow the instructions to the letter. Had trouble with the two machines connecting and realized that you MUST connect cable to old machine first, then new machine. Once I did that (after 3 tries) I set it running before before I left for work and when I got home it had transferred everything as promised. All my settings, files and folders were there on my new Optiplex 3010.

Yes, I would recommend this product
Took a few tries to get working. Maybe because my old laptop was very old. But once I got it connected the transfers went well. while it is hard to use, if you have a lot of music and videos to move, especially from ITunes, this does the trick.

would not work. No plug and play. What else do you need to say. software must be out of date, updates would not load. too time consuming to figure out how to troubleshoot.

Yes, I would recommend this product
The directions for using the cable were easy to understand. The transfer was easy. It was alot faster transfering a large amount of data than using other methods. I liked the reports that showed what was transferred and recommedations for software that should be installed on the new PC. The report did however miss telling me that one of my programs was not transferred and needed to be reinstalled and the data transerred for the Family Tree Maker.

No, I do not recommend this product.
I did not find the use of the Belkin Easy Transfer cable used with the Windows Easy Transfer process to be "easy". In the first place, when I purchased my new Dell computer, I did not need a new monitor, therefore, did not purchase one, but if you use the Belkin cable and the Windows Transfer process, you will need two monitors. Maybe I should have realized this in advance myself, but the Dell sales person did not comment on this when I purchased my computer and I had to borrow another monitor. Now, the main reason I say the process was NOT easy is that I was transferring over 60GB of information. I had many stops and starts, disconnects/attempting to reconnect. I first called Belkin Technical Support which was terrible. All they wanted to talk about was selling me a warranty. I then called Dell Technical Support. Each technician there was excellent, very courteous and helpful, but the whole transfer process was very frustrating and lengthy. All in all, it took me three days and many, many, many hours to transfer all of the information. At one point, when I had left the transfer to hopefully run overnight, the next morning it had been stopped/interrupted by Windows Automatic Updates which had rebooted my computer, so one needs to be sure to turn on Windows Updates before beginning the transfer. Rather than using the Belkin and Windows Transfer process, I would recommend that the information on one's old computer be backed up to an external hard drive or thumb drive and transferred from that source.

The setup was easy and straight forward, and the selection then transfer started right up. The only "problem", if you can call it that, is the time it takes to move an entire, large drive from the old machine to the new one.
There probaby should also be some preview choices to make smarter decisions in what to transfer.
I HIGHLY recommend incremental transfers, not whole drives at once (like I did) so you can manage the files a little more smartly, and so you don't get stuck when one of your computers goes in to sleep mode.

I loved the easy transfer cable! It was easy to use and fast! I had no problem transfering all my files including my itunes to my new computer. I told my friend about it because she was having issues transfering her itunes to her new laptop and it worked like a charm. I highly recommend it!

This Cable worked excellent, and having Windows 7 was a major plus, I didn't have to install anything. Easy to understand interface for the user and quicker transfer than I thought. Wish the transfer screen was easier to navigate though, defiantly confusing if you don't know what you're doing right off. Overall excellent product and have already shared it with some of my friends.

Purchased this cable with my new XPS 8500 cause I had about 10 years worth of data to transfer off the old computer. Software installed flawlessly on the old computer and after connecting cable computer began scannning for folder and files to transfer. Data files such as video, music, word docs, excel spreadsheets tranfered without a hitch. The only problems came when transfering Outlook setting and folders and this problem is well documented.

Yes, I would recommend this product
In the past, I have had to go through the arduous task of saving all of my pictures and documents to a disk (or thirty) or to a thumb drive and transfer them to my new computer. If you have done it, you know that this can really be a time-consuming and, frankly, quite boring task. I purchased the easy transfer cable along with my new Dell, and with very little effort on my part my files were all transferred from My old Windows XP system to my new WIndows 7 system. It only took about an hour total, and I went outside and played Wiffle Ball with my kids while I waited. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who does not look forward to the work involved in setting up a new computer.

When using the Transfer Cable my computers would not connect. However, I was able to use an alternate procedure but the instructions were not clear. I suspect that maybe my older computer had a problem that prevented normal transfer operation. Overall the instruction booklet was lacking in details.
