No, I do not recommend this product.
I wish I could recommend this with more zeal, but the wire is so thin that it would be possible to cut without even wire cutters. The little rubber stop that prevents it from scratching my computer came off even before I put the thin on my computer. I fixed that with a dab of super glue, but...well, I am just not as impressed as I was with the picture. Buyer beware!

Yes, I would recommend this product
This is good for preventing crimes of opportunity--say, when you are in the library or Starbuck's and go to the restroom. However, in an isolated space where someone has a minute or two and some cutters--say, in an empty office at night or when everyone is at lunch--it will not help you much.

it's a great lock with great pricing; compare to the one in Canada...which is way too expensive :)however, it is still quite easy to just cut the luck off.

90 Seconds and I will have this lock busted

No, I do not recommend this product.
This is a locking system for your laptop. It gives the appearance of security. However, using my wit and determination, I had it defeated in 90 seconds with a $1.95 True Value Hardware standard screwdriver. This lock will keep some people from yanking your computer, but a determined person with a lower than average IQ will boost your laptop and leave the lock behind for you to use with your replacement laptop. Paid about thirteen bucks for the lock. It is worth about thirteen bucks. Hey check this out. The instructions to operate the lock had very few words. They depend on bunch of pictures that make you tilt your head like when a dog hears a squeaky toy. Rought Row!!

This works well enough to be able to have peace of mind. If used in area's where snatch and grab is a possiblity, you can have that edge to prevent an expensive loss. And a great stocking stuffer.

Since I'm a full-time student, I needed something that would allow me to leave the table while I'm at the library or in the classroom. This was absolutley worth it. The cord could be a bit longer, but it is still money well spent.

I purchased this lock for my Studio XPS 1645, for security and peace-of-mind when I needed to walk away from my laptop for only a few moments, or to leave my laptop secured in a "somewhat trustworthy" location (i.e.: the office, hotels, etc.).
Functional. Secure. Does its job as a deterrent well. It isn't Fort Knox, but then again it doesn't claim to be. I'm quite happy with my purchase.
If I only had colleagues that performed as equally well, my job would be MUCH easier ;)

I travel to and from various government offices to copy files with a portable scanner and digital camera. I also pack along my new, Dell Vostro 2510 laptop for downloading and retrieving data. It's an attractively tempting item. I frequently wander down halls to access file and map cabinets, leaving the laptop unattended for a few minutes. It's not always practical to pack it back and forth. Not to say gov't employees are untrustworthy, because they generally are quite good, but you never know what other sort of riff-raff might be lurking around public buildings. The portable laptop lock works well. My Vostro is equipped with a slot for it, and I can loop the cable around a desk leg. It prevents casual, spur-of-the-moment theft from passers-by. The cable can't be cut with your ordinary office shears, or with a belt tool. Few people are going to be wandering an office packing a bolt cutter, so it's a good investment to protect your bigger investment.

$20 is definitely not too much to pay for peace of mind! Before buying this, I couldn't contemplate leaving my set-up to get another drink at the coffee shop or heaven forbid, use the bathroom. Now I can do both with impunity.

Be sure to record your combination in a safe place.
Pros:Everyone on my gift list will get one of these locks. It is superb and worth the price. I like the fact that is is available in this color. It is easy to operate. Keeps intruders out, especially minors. The size is excellent and does not crowd the case at all. the spiral cord keeps the work area neat and prevents snags.
