Good Starter Kit

PostedFebruary 5, 2010
No, I do not recommend this product.
This is my first tv tuner I installed in my Dell XPS 420. Very easy to install. The software works ok. You have to go online to get updates if you are running Windows 7. You have to buy extra wires to make this product work. (tv spilter,RCA wires (3.5 m) and a extra S video wire. It does come with a S video adapter. Works with Windows Media Center. If you have a digtal cable box or VCR you have to use the S video wire to be able watch and record. When you have the cable wire hooked up in the back of the PC you will only get basic cable channels. HD channels come in nice and clear. I also have a extra hard drive (1TB) to record tv shows like a DVR. I only gave it 3 stars because it took some time to get it to work. I only paid $60.00 for this product. Nothing to cry about.

Very simple to install, reliable tuner

PostedDecember 2, 2009
Yes, I would recommend this product
Very reliable and easy to install on XPS 8000.
Was recognized immediately under Windows 7
and updated to the latest drivers.
The WinTV tuner interface they supply is
clunky to use, does not name channels well
and was hard to navigate....however,
it integrated immediately with Windows 7
Media Center, was able to see all available
channel details and picture quality was
excellent. This is how I am using this
tuner and because of this I would recommend
it.
Received all HD channels available without
issue and very clear.
Pros:desktop, displayed on 2nd monitor

Its ok

I just use it to put tv shows on my ipod, then I watch at work during the hours of idle time I have every night. Works great for that plus you can use it like a dvr and never miss a show.
Pros:I can record and it will convert to ipod or some other mp3 players with video.
Cons:I have a slim pc (inspiron 531s). I spoke with 3 ppl from dell lbefore I bought, all said it will fit perfectly. I had to take a grinder and a cutting wheel to the bracket to get it to fit and it still is loose in there because i had to cut. I expected a little fuzzieness because it is kind of cheap but it was a little worse than I thought it would be.

Pros:-Windows Media Center (Vista x64) compatible -Is a PCIe card -Simple installation of drivers/software (used v4.2 beta) -Good price and features
Cons:I have 4 GB of RAM in my Vista Ultimate x64 system, with which the Hauppauge drivers have a problem working properly and the video from the card is really jerky. This is a known issue with which Hauppauge and/or MS need to address, because if I take out one of my 1 GB sticks or decrease the maximum memory available to Vista using msconfig, then WinTV and Windows Media Center work fine and the card gives a proper, smooth video feed.
