XPS 420 Memory Upgrade

Yes, I would recommend this product
My XPS 420 has been a solid computer with no problems for the three years I have owned it. However, I thought it was time to bring it up to today's standards. I bumped the Ram from 4gb to 8gb and upgraded from Vista 32bit to win7 64bit. Feels like a new system. As a side note, I upgraded my 256mb video card to a 1gb video card. Now my system is at or above what is currently for sale.
Pros:general home usage, photo enhancements, powerpoint presentations

My XPS was loading slow and needed a kick. This definitely did the job. I had a slot open in the middle and within minutes I was up and running... FAST!

Recognized immediately; great with Win 7 64-bit

Yes, I would recommend this product
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit RC, which can take full advantage of RAM. Vista 32-bit could only access about 3GB of RAM, and my XPS420 had 4GB. My work requires that I have several windows open at once--including ppt, Adobe, imaging software, and Word--and with 4GB, Adobe would get flaky and crash. Since Windows 7 64-bit can access more memory, I upgraded with 4 of these modules. What's interesting is that, when you upgrade, if you have a system monitor (Google or Windows sidebar), it will show that you are using a higher percentage of your RAM, even though you have more. That's because the system now has access to all of it with a 64-bit system. I ran a full check on the memory when I installed it, and there were no problems. It was a little cheaper when I bought it a month or so ago, but it's still a good value compared to what I see on some other internet retailers. One caveat: If you don't have a 64-bit system, you most likely don't need more than 3GB of RAM, because that's all you system can access. But if you upgrade to a 64-bit system, maxing out your RAM is a must, and you'll notice the difference in stability, speed, and start-up times right away. And these Dell modules are great.
Pros:Connecting with Friends, Video Editing, Music & Movies, Finances, Presentation
