The large, heavy ball spins well

PostedFebruary 27, 2011
Yes, I would recommend this product
A crucial difference between this trackball and the current Logitech trackballs is that this unit is equipped with a large, heavy ball that is much easier to control and allows you to move across the screen with one spin.
I just wish the driver would allow the mouse to be reversed. I use the mouse on a small table at my hip, so that I can hang my arm down, instead of holding it up to reach the desk. So I would prefer to have the mouse sloping downward, rather than upward. Unfortunately, the driver does not accommodate a reverse orientation. So I have to place a small 2x4 block and some non-slip rubber under one edge of the mouse.

Excellent trackball, very easy on the hand

PostedSeptember 9, 2009
Yes, I would recommend this product
The Kensington Expert Mouse, Optical is a very high quality trackball. It works great with my Dell Ubuntu and Windows systems in addition to my MacBook Pro.
If you are not currently a track ball user it takes some getting used to, if you are using another track ball (not a kensigton) the difference is night and day. This is a well engineered trackball that is super smooth as well as highly accurate and as a professional programmer I really appreciate how easy it is on my mouse hand. With ths trackball your hand stays stationary on the included wrist pad and in addition to working very well any painful tendons you may have from overuse will be feeling much better.
Highly recommended for professionals and serious computer users
Pros:all the time

Worth the Money

PostedJanuary 24, 2008
Yes, I would recommend this product
This device is costly enough when compared to other pointing devices that many people will not consider it.
Its tremendous utility, however, justifies the cost. The key is correct hand placement when using the trackball. Although not pictured, it comes with a soft wrist rest that attaches to the base. You place your wrist on the soft rest and your thumb on the scroll wheel that surrounds the actual "ball". Your first two fingers rest on the ball itself and your ring finger rests on the scroll ring on the opposite side to your thumb. You can rest your pinky off to the side of the buttons. When you scroll you lift the 2 fingers resting on the ball up and scroll with your thumb or ring finger. When you move the cursor you use you first 2 fingers and lift your thumb and ring finger. You can custom programme the buttons in many ways. I like to make one button a "back" button for my web browser (combing keystrokes for Ctrl and left Arrow) which saves a lot of tedious cursor movement.
Pros:Less hand fatigue. Versatile programmable buttons. Functions just as well on a crowded desk as a large one because the device itself does not move. Especially useful with large or multi-monitor setups because the cursor can be made to traverse a great distance while your wrist remains stationary.
Cons:None
