Average at best

No, I do not recommend this product.
Bought this headset a few months ago. It's alright for the price range but I was fairly dissapointed.. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros - comfortable, sound quality for in-game sound effects very good, also voices come through quite clear.
Cons - music sound quality is terrible. Mic has excessive feedback regardless of set up; very grainy. no bass, and sometimes piercing treble.
I would not recommend this headset to anyone to be honest, I would go right ahead and spend a bit of extra money if you are planning on using a headset for gaming and VOIP. In the end I went back to my old headset that I picked up for twenty bucks at kmart. Still on the hunt for a better set.
Pros:Gaming, voip

Alienware Tactx Headset

No, I do not recommend this product.
I have been using these headphones for a little more than a year but stopped because the right headphone stopped working. I have to fiddle with the positioning of the wire for a long time before there is sound in both ears. The Alienware logo on both sides are discoloured and there smell of rust on them. The headphones themselves are really comfortable but there are better ones that you should consider getting instead of these.

Yes, I would recommend this product
Since these headphones came bundled with the Alienware Aurora, I thought it was quiet a nice deal. They arrived 7 months ago, and since then I have moved on from 'Gaming Headphones' to 'Musical Headphones'.
When I first got these, my response was 'wow, these are really good!’ I've been hearing a lot more detail after using 'bass' headphones from Panasonic (Cheapo ones), but after testing out these headphones with a Sound card from creative, the experience was better. A soundcard really does amplify your overall experience in gaming. The sound positioning is quite good and even though it doesn't match a 7.1 headphone, it comes close.
However after using it for a long time, my ears have gotten used the sound signature of these headphones and that when switching to top end Sennheiser headphones, I found them to muddy and dull and eventually realised that the treble on these Tactx Headphones were just too overpowering and that the bass was nonexistent. True, it may be very good for Gaming, but for music, these are terrible. Now that my ears have gotten used to the Senns', I have tried these Alienware headphones again, and I cannot stand them anymore because of their treble.
I'm not giving these a 1 star because these headphones aren't bad, they are very good for the price and their accuracy and clarity is extremely good. It's just that the highs are a bit piercing and there is a major lack of bass (You can hear it but there's no impact or sharpness and the detail in the bass isn't very good).
Overall, these headphones are recommended for 'Gamers' only or for people who come from low end headphones. The Mic isn't that bad in the previous review; it’s just not THAT sensitive. If you want to find out more about these headphones, they are just a rebranded Steelseries 5Hv2. Search the headphones up and read the reviews.
