No, I do not recommend this product.
Overall I am very happy with the laptop which I have had for 18 months. From day 1 however, the battery life which was supposed to be for up to 3 hours, never got beyond 1 hour. 2 friends have the same model and say exactly the same thing on battery life. As a result, I mainly use the laptop plugged in (which sort of defeats one of the main reasons for having chosen a laptop over a desktop). Despite mainly using it plugged in, the battery is now at the end of its life. This is very disappointing, not to say expensive. I will be looking elsewhere than to get a battery at a lower cost. I have always rated Dell highly but would probably choose a different brand in future because of the battery issue (a friend bought a different brand a week or two after me and has not had the same problems). I would like to rate the Dell brand higher because overall, I like the laptop but this is an expensive downside to the product.

Great laptops but the battery lifetime is a scandal.
Our company standardises on Dells but if they calculated the cost of all the replacement batteries I am sure they would change their policy. I have had many laptops and the 2 Dells battery lifetime is rarely more than a year compared with over 3 years on other laptops I have had.
I foolishly bought a Dell for my daughter to take to Uni and after 15 months am forking out over £100 for a new battery. There are a lot of bad comments and reviews along this line and I just hope that Dell take some notice before their whole reputation is destroyed by their battery supplier

No, I do not recommend this product.
The battery works fine for the first year or so but then becomes completely useless after that, it lasts about 10 mins from fully charged now! It's worth avoiding laptops with this battery altogether simply because the cost of replacing the battery could be over £100

Laptop is not bad but, little things go wrong and trying to get them fixt, is poor, had to get new battery just before 1 yr old one of the keys on laptop not working so cant copy and past with right hand key

Had exactly the same trouble as the people above, battery decided it was 'reaching the end of it's usable life' 12 months after purchasing. Seriously? 12 months. Bit of a joke considering the initial cost for the laptop and then the cost for a replacement. I'm a student, I don't really have £100+ knocking about to buy a battery for a laptop. Very poor.

Bought a Dell over 3 years ago, after about a year the battery stopped working, no message no nothing, i have insurance with the shop i bought it from but like Dell they dont cover battery/power cables! I would never buy a Dell product again, i thought i was getting value for money thats why i spent more than usuall on this laptop!! I have phoned and phoned to get them to fix it as a battery should last much longer! Discusted by the product

I purchased a new lap top from a High Street store in Sept 2009, after 8 months I was getting the battery warning "nearing the end of its life". Unfortunately I didnt take it back under warranty as I rarely use it unpluged. The battery has know failed completely Jan 2011. I have noted that whilst this battery is listed in the search for 1545, it isnt listed when you look at "more detail" and see which computers its compatible with!! How can this be? Perhaps its not suitable! Many more complaints about this on the American Dell site! I'm thinking I might be better investing in a new printer (not Dell) with wifi conection instead of buying a battery as this is the only time its used unpluged. Anybody managed to get a replacement free of charge?

Excellent delivery for the time of year (near to christmas) and a very good item - only good because its expensive for a small battery. You will be paying more for the name than the size of the battery.

A little under eleven months ago, I bought a Dell Inspiron 1545. I have been very happy with it up until a few weeks ago, when the battery died. I am very annoyed that the battery failed in such a short time. Hopefully I can get a replacement on my warrenty.

I bought a Dell a year ago as well and my battery has run out. Since I'm only 15, I can't really afford to pay £70 for a new one! The laptop is generally very good but I am not very happy about having to buy a new battery so soon :(

I purchased Dell laptop just under a year ago to get a message to say the battery is at the end of its life. Wont be buying another one....
Only brought a Dell because I thought Dell was a good reliable product.
Not happy with having to purchase a new battery already in less than a year.
