Easy Set Up

PostedJuly 18, 2012
Yes, I would recommend this product
This is by far the easiest CAC reader I have installed. All it took was a update on the drivers and I was set to go. The only set back is that it is more pricey than just a cac reader.

Great Product

PostedDecember 30, 2011
Yes, I would recommend this product
this is a great keyboard for people not wanting an external CAC reader. worked flawlessly out of the box with no drivers, and even more flawlessly with all DoD websites that require CAC logins. @DaveHawaii - this keyboard accepts Common Access Cards or CAC's. not PCMCIA cards - just to clear up any confusion. this keyboard and reader also works very well with ActivClient and with secure windows logons. i would recommend this to any DoD user needing to access DoD websites at home, and to any private companies using CAC cards.
Pros:dod websites, secure email, army pay sites

Keyboard Card Reader

PostedMay 4, 2011
No, I do not recommend this product.
I use cards a lot to load pictures from my camera, so I thought it would be handy to have a reader on the keyboard.
I come to find out that it ONLY handles PCMCIA cards. Who uses those??
Fortunately I also got the card reader for the tower, which of course reads all of the normal useful cards.
So I got an ordinary keyboard with a useless slot.

USB Keyboard

PostedApril 20, 2011
Yes, I would recommend this product
Purchased this to replace the flat keyboard that came with the new computer and delivery was in advance of shipping date. Very good USB keyboard that has a Smartcard built-in and it works fine if you need it and has adapter for hand rest if you requre that too. Have been using it for about a month with no problems.

Great keyboard if U survive the purchase goat rope

PostedDecember 29, 2010
Yes, I would recommend this product
The keyboard is responsive and gives excellent tactile feedback. Very pleasant to use. Wish I could say the same for the Dell purchase process. For a computer company, they sure have a hard time processing a simple credit card transaction. So frustrated at their inability to complete the transaction I almost canceled the order. The keyboard is superb, so I'm glad I persisted. Secure card middleware set-up is complicated but that's the protocol, not the keyboard.
Pros:secure communication via smart card

Great Keyboard even if you don't have a Smartcard

PostedNovember 4, 2010
Yes, I would recommend this product
I am not sure about the other reviews. This keyboard weighs about 3x the standard Dell keyboard. As such it has a much better feel and no flex to the keyboard at all the keys themselves feel the same the standard keyboard. the compact size is nice with no wasted space on the keyboard. No volume controls, buy the multimedia keyboard. The smartcard reader works well with my company card as well as Gov't issued CAC card. If you want a substantial keyboard that will not move around this is a good choice, or if you need the smart card capability

Bare Bones

PostedFebruary 8, 2010
No, I do not recommend this product.
Very low end keyboard. The action is OK but you can hear & feel the poor quality. It rattles when the keys bounce back. No multimedia keys or volume key. No extra framework around the base. Just enough room for the keys and that is it. If you want the cheap one, this is it. Go for an after market upgrade.
