Display Port Adapter
PostedDecember 28, 2011
Yes, I would recommend this product
Well made adapter, performs perfectly to adapt my Acer flatscreen cable to the display port on my refurbished Dell Computer. The Dell has two display ports so I can run dual monitors if I decide to--hopefully a second monitor would come with the required display port cable.
Pros:adapter for non-dell monitor

My intention was to enable a secondary monitor but it turned out that I can connect my iPad to watch movies with this cable in HD... HDCP enabled it is. Can't ask for more.

Just what I needed
PostedJanuary 6, 2010
Yes, I would recommend this product
Works well, great value relative to third party offerings. Made the HP LP2275w monitor picture smoother and sharper versus going out the VGA port on my Latitude E6500.
Would love to see an additional option for a dual-link DVI port but I don't think the graphics chipset in the E6500 could really drive it.

Adapter does what it is supposed to do
PostedApril 30, 2009
Yes, I would recommend this product
pros: I wanted to connect my new Dell Optiplex 760 to my 2006 24-inch Dell 2405FPW monitor. It would have been surprising if the adapter did not work, and indeed it does work. Good. cons: (a) My main objection is to the fact that I needed this adapter in the first place. Dell has sold monitors with DVI input for many years. Why would they not provide a DVI output/jack at the back of their latest computers? Do they really expect that most of their customers will have a monitor with DisplayPort connection? It would have been so easy to have the DVI connection, which the graphics board in the Optiplex support. Why keep the VGA jack but not DVI? It seems that 'DisplayPort politics' got in the way of good sense. (b) Nevertheless, having made the decision not to put in a DVI jack, Dell should make it clearer in the description of their Optiplex that if a customer wants to use a DVI monitor, he/she needs to purchase the adapter at the same time rather than have to figure it out AFTER having received the system, then order the adapter, and then wait to receive it.

not quite - almost

Displayport (in my case Dell Precision M6400 laptop) should not have been released without a sub $100 way of converting to 1600 x 2580 format. Dell needs to get this connector available.
Pros:This is an inexpensive solution if you want to connect up to 1200 x 1920
Cons:I want to connect to a "3007" monitor. To get to the native resolution of 1600 x 2560, you need a displayport to DVI Dual, not a DVI Single. Well, Apple has a "mini" display port to DVI Dual, but that's it. I have a 1 year old monitor that costs a bunch and no way to connect to it. And no, buying a new monitor is not a "solution"

not what is needed...
PostedJanuary 18, 2009
No, I do not recommend this product.
Pros:IF you are only looking to get some kind of output from your display port (which very few monitors support), then this is a descent item.
Cons:The reason you need to display port is to output higher resolutions. Since this display port only exports single link DVI resolutions, this is not what the doctor ordered. Apple just released a mini-display port to dual link dvi which supports up to 2400X1600 resolutions. Where is dell's answer? If dell is only going to release display port for higher res, they need to offer a solution other than "buy a dell monitor that connects to a display port".
