Yes, I would recommend this product
For a month I have been having headaches and nausea using my old LCD monitor and have tried three other different new monitors in an attempt to solve the problem. Yesterday I brought home this monitor and I am, finally, symptom-free. Hooray! Reasons: glossy screen (no anti-glare coating, which bothers me); VA panels (both IPS and TN bother me), fully HD capable (a necessity for me) and best of all, no PWM. Beautiful design. And a reasonable price. I don't know why there aren't more monitors like this, but I probably ought to buy a dozen and stockpile them!
Pros:no pwm, glossy screen, va panels, hdmi input, fully hd capable, good tilt adjustment, lightweight but sturdy, nice design, reasonable price, edge-to-edge screen
Cons:no height adjustment, no swivel, no rotation adjustment

No, I do not recommend this product.
First of all I want to say this is an outstanding monitor, with one flaw that renders it unusable. This monitor has an ultra glossy screen that is too far over the top. Even in a dimly lit room all I can see is my own reflection. I cannot fathom who thought this was a good idea.
Now that I mentioned what broke it, I'll talk about what makes it otherwise great. The image quality is superb. I had to do some research online, but once I changed my video card's digital color format setting to YCbCr444, it looked great. Another thing it does is cut out the fat. Many people call missing usb ports, or only 1 hdmi input cons, but I think those are pros. I'm allready surrounded by usb ports. I don't need another one. And I only have 1 computer to hook up to my monitor. I don't need 200 hdmi ports. So I will gladly pay less at the expense of losing things I don't care about.
I wanted to like this monitor, I really did. However after owning it for only 1 day I'm going to return it to the store.
Pros:good image quality, good price point, cuts out pointless features
Cons:the screen glare, did i mention screen glare?

Yes, I would recommend this product
I just got this monitor, and I am loving it. I don't have any of the text rendering issues like others are saying. If you run the monitor at it's native resolution (1920x1080), it runs smooth and crisp.
I am pleased with this purchase.
Pros:great native resolution, hdmi port
Cons:only 1 hdmi port, no built in speakers

No, I do not recommend this product.
This monitor is in no way the kind of quality product that Dell is usually regarded for. I have had many other Dell monitors which I have always been pleased with. Image quality with the S2440L is terrible. Worked with it for a day trying to tune it to improve but no luck. Text quality is among the worst I have ever seen, very hard on the eyes. Ran it side by side with a much less expensive ($159) Asus VE247H (which is by no means a quality item) and the Asus completely nukes the Dell. Not even close. I do not believe my S2440L is defective, it is simply a case of a very poor quality panel selection by Dell. I am returning it and getting an UltraSharp model instead. Pros: Physically drop dead gorgeous when sitting on the desk turned off. Cons: Extremely poor text rendering, lack of brightness, and just about everything else. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because it does look good when no image is displayed, and maybe for gaming in a dark room the monitor might be useful. Didn't try that though.

No, I do not recommend this product.
I am returning this--packed without recording the "service tag".
I've been a Dell customer since the mid 1990s and have bought countless desk/laptops and monitors, all of which have met expectations -- except this one. I bought this as a second monitor--I currently am happily using two Dell monitors, one 24" and one 22", both Ultras, but wanted a second 24".
The color on this S version was totally off; the weight of the screen on its particular mounting causes the thing to jiggle in response to the slightly desk movement; to say the screen is reflective is an understatement--"mirror" is a better description. Truly awful. I'll would much rather deal with the annoyance of two different monitor sizes.
I'm disappointed, Dell.

The monitor has overall great quality. My child uses it for drawing connected to a bamboo pad. The pictures come out in great color. The monitor does not take too much room on the desk.

Yes, I would recommend this product
We upgraded from a small 16" monitor. The monitor is on a workstation used by a variety of people to record museum activity. It is also used to view video recorded at events and some webinars. NO GAMING!
The size and the viewing angles supported are great. When training new people, a group of people easily can view the screen. The amount of tilt makes it comfortable for both the short and tall people.
The only con I encountered was that I initially had trouble find the power button.

No, I do not recommend this product.
After reading TFT Central's review of this monitor, I bought one for my daughter for the holidays. It just arrived. The glossy finish and glass are simply lovely, but the text - OH NO! It's worse than a VGA driven monitor of old way out of alignment. Two hours later after trying it on other computers, it's on it's way back to Dell. "Simply awful text." Don't bother with this one if you care anything about text.

This monitor does have 1920x1080 full HD resolution, and when set up properly for optimal screen resolution, the text should display beautifully. You can adjust the screen resolution of your monitor through the Control Panel → Appearance and Personalization →Display → then Screen Resolution. From there you will be able to choose the correct 1920x1080, or recommended resolution.

No, I do not recommend this product.
New monitor was defective out of the box. It took an hour (54 min) of long waits and three customer reps to order a replacement. Now I must wait some days, perhaps a week to receive a new monitor. The Dell techs in India were pleasant and not too difficult to understand. I should have purchased a monitor locally from a no-hassle merchant.

- Overshoot causes slight inverse ghosting.

Other Thoughts:
The picture quality on this monitor is great once calibrated. The colors are very accurate and the black levels are very deep thanks to it being a A-MVA panel.
This monitor is very glossy since it has a glass cover that's embedded on top of the actual display panel and reflections could be a problem for some if the monitor is placed in a area with lots of lamps or windows. The glass cover is very similar to what Apple uses on their iMacs and Apple cinema display monitors so if you ever used one of those and reflections don't bother you then they shouldn't bother you on this monitor as well. Also since this monitor has no anti-glare coating it makes the colors on screen really "pop" and everything appears very clear on screen when compared to monitors that use a anti-glare coating.
If you are using a Nvidia video card with this monitor then you have to do a work around to get it to display the full RGB color spectrum. This is not a issue with the monitor but a issue with Nvidia drivers since the drivers have a problem with displaying RGB over HDMI. If you don't do this then your picture quality will suffer on any monitor when using RGB over HDMI with a Nvidia graphics card.
You can find the RGB work around by typing "A Way to Fix RGB Output in NVCP (HDMI)" in Google and clicking the first result from "Guru3D"
Overall I think this a great monitor and recommend it to anyone who likes glossy displays! The color accuracy and deep black/contrast levels combined with the glossy display really make this monitor stand out in a good way when compared to TN and IPS panel competitors.

No, I do not recommend this product.
Plugged this monitor to my brand new XPS 8500. The picture is terrible compared to my "older" LG monitor. The glass is reflective, which is very annoying. I love the design and wish if I could have made it work for me, but I ended up returning it within 24 hours. Very disappointed with the picture quality.
