Not for SFF Optiplex GX745 Machine as Listed
PostedJanuary 21, 2011
No, I do not recommend this product.
I purchased this ps2 port adapter to add functionality to my new Optiplex GX 745 (small form factor) pc [actually, so I could use my kvm switch to be able to go back and forth between it and another dell--dimension pc]. It was advertised for the 745 but when I tried it it wouldn't fit. Probably fits the tower machines.

Reliable RS-232 connection; much more so than a USB-RS232 converter.

PS2 Serial Port adapter
PostedNovember 6, 2009
Yes, I would recommend this product
This little gadget allows you to use your old PS2 mouse and/or keyboard instead of buying a USB version. Since it is a Dell-branded device you can be sure it is compatible, as opposed to some other PS2-adapter solutions. It simply plugs into a connector on the main board and takes up one slot at the rear. Five minute installation. The Dell price is probably as good as you will get anywhere. I didn't actually need the serial port but some people might.
