No, I do not recommend this product.
Yeah, so this thing is a hunk of junk. I unplugged it and one of the prongs came out of the casing and stayed stuck in the outlet! Granted, it's a couple years old, but I've never owned an electrical appliance and had that happen before.
Pros:Fairly cheap to replace.
Cons:Does not last.

3-prong cord Only
PostedJune 22, 2008
Yes, I would recommend this product
I have seen a lot of bad reviews for this item. I would like to make a comment on these reviews. When I first received my unit, to replace a unit my puppy chewed through, it would only work when I wiggled the cord. This caused me great concern and I remembered all of those bad reviews I had read. I unplugged the cord and re-plugged it in, this time using the palm of my hand, and using moderate to major force. I have not had any trouble since then (6 months ago). Therefore, may I suggest that when connecting the brick to the 3-prong plug, connect it forcefully, use the palm of your hand to insure it is fully seated, and that should solve most problems. Hope this helps. PS: I have two charging units: one for the road, and one for my desk at home so I am using this item an a continuous basis.
Pros:Well made cord. Heavy duty 3-prong grounded unit. Performs as a cord should.
Cons:None noted

Weak Durability
PostedOctober 3, 2007
No, I do not recommend this product.
Cons:The description stating that this cord lasts only two years is accurate. After using my laptop for two years, my cord stopped holding a charge unless I set it at specific positions. It became difficult to use the computer in public places because of consistently having to manipulate the cord to keep a charge.

Not Very Durable
PostedAugust 7, 2007
No, I do not recommend this product.
They are too expensive and should be part of the warranty. It is a given that a laptop is going to have more wear and tear than desk PC's. They should make the power cords more durable for this.
Pros:It seems heavy duty and durable, but it isn't.
Cons:The piece that connects with the actual computer is always loose and pulls out too easily. I am purchasing my third one in 3 years. The first one burned out. This one has a loose connection at the plug in area of the computer and keeps cutting out power. It is still working but I have to constantly push it in to keep it working.

Title:
Count to three and get the right chord
PostedFebruary 14, 2007
Yes, I would recommend this product
I have an Inspiron 1501 and this chord, according to Dell's website information, is not supposed to be compatible with my computer. However it works fine and is just what I need. Now had I purchased the one they say is compatible with my system, it would not have worked. Why? Because my AC power adaptor requires a three pronged cable, not a two prong cable as Dell recommends. So, before you order, I urge you to look at your current chord and AC adaptor. If it is grounded (3 prongs) you will need a three prong cable. If it is ungrounded (2 prongs), you need a two prong cable. Simple enough.
My formula to get the right cable was: look at my old cable, count to three, look at the pictures on the website and don't pay attention to the compatability list that is currently published.
Pros:Works fine and I can power my notebook again.
Cons:Dell's compatibility list is confusing to consumer.
