Great MFP

Yes, I would recommend this product
We have three of these, and a 3335dn. They work great and I don't have paper jams or ghosting. Maybe they need to replace the imaging drum.
My only suggestion would be to allow for thicker card stock.

Never had so many problems with a printer

PostedDecember 20, 2010
No, I do not recommend this product.
I purchased this unit in July, 2010. It arrived and was actually quite easy to install and get working properly. I was actually amazed at the quality and print speeds for several months. It far exceeded my expectations.
Then suddenly, in November, 2010, things started to go wrong. The printer started printing ghost images around any transparent image on a document.
Then the paper jams began. First, it was only when attempting duplexing. Then it extended to single side printing as well.
Then the printer stopped accepting certain paper settings set from software. For instance, I could no longer print envelopes.
All along, after the problems began, I would have the unit freeze up with an error message on a blue screen. (Visions of Microsoft Windows Vista began to haunt me at this point)
I called Dell and I suggested to them that perhaps there was a software problem. They assured me it was hardware and given that the unit was so new and on warranty, they would immediately ship me a new one. To my great satisfaction, a "new" one arrived in less than two days. I was originally very pleased at this fast turnaround time . . . Until I installed this "new" unit and discovered that it was experiencing THE EXACT SAME ISSUES.
I immediately called Dell and told them of the issues and again felt pretty confident that this was a software problem. They again told me it was not software and that they would send me out a "new" printer. I pointed out the obvious that they had already sent out a "new" printer and that obviously it was not a hardware problem. At that time, they informed me for the first time that the replacement unit that was sent out was NOT NEW but was in fact REFURBISHED. Wow, that took me buy surprise. The Customer Service rep felt confident this was not a software problem and put a support order to have a NEW unit shipped. This was on December 7, 2010. It is now December 20,2010 and despite numerous calls to support, the replacement unit is still "in production".
Why do I get this feeling that it is going to be weeks before I can print again and why do I get this feeling that the NEW unit will not solve my issues?
I have been pretty happy with Dell in the past, but after this fiasco, I don't know that I will purchase a Dell again.

No built in fax

PostedNovember 8, 2010
No, I do not recommend this product.
Now you would think that an almost $1000 multifunction printer would have the simple built in capablity to fax but it doesn't. You have to buy the exact same thing except its call the 3335dn for $300 more to get fax capablilities. Very Annoying
