I havnt had it very long, but I am very impressed on how well the alienware 18 runs every game I own flawlessly. Its a little bulky but that doesn't bother me none, because this gaming laptop is awesome. If you love bells and whistles, then this is for you. However, all this good stuff comes at a cost in battery life, there are some things you can do to conserve the battery for a few more hours.
Pros:high end gaming graphics, very sleek design, very quiet, nice sound system, bluetooth/wi-fi/game-streaming
Cons:bulky, short battery life

Title: Very good laptop, very fast, no problem what so ever.
PostedDecember 19, 2014
Yes, I would recommend this product
Very fast laptop and the graphics are amazing!! A++++
When I purchased this product it was with high hopes, and for the first week they were met. There is no doubt this machine (maxed all the components I could) is one of the, if not the best gaming laptop around. It is also good to see that most reviews support this as well, so hopefully mine is a unique case.
I say for the first week because that is as long as it lasted, then issues crept in, over the year I have "used" the product I have found myself on the line to Dell support almost fortnightly - monthly (which by the way are an excellent department and very helpful) in order to fix issue after issue, from blue screens to faulty components to the point I have been instructed to wipe (and re install) everything over 8 times and still one year on don't have a functional product.
This Laptop is awesome, I love it and would recommend it to everyone I knew, if it could work faultlessly for more then a month.
Pros:performance and power unrivaled, sleek look, clearly for gamers
Cons:consistent issues, unable to reach potential

Title: Heartbroken Former Fan
PostedNovember 12, 2014
No, I do not recommend this product.
My gaming computer just went up in literal flames while playing a game. No warning, no previous damage ever done to it. Screen went black and smoke billowed out the back.
We bought the year warranty, it died in 1 yr and 7 months.
I have had Dell computers since Windows 98 and always loved the look of Alienware. I was excited to save up enough to finally get one, and for a while playing on it was pure bliss, until this.
If the computer could be sent in and repaired, this review would go very differently. But all I'm getting is sky high repair bills from tech support because it's out of warranty and they have no legal obligation to stand by their product. For this price, it should last at least 2 years, right? Learn from my mistake. :(
Pros:lovely while it lasts
Cons:abrupt death of computer!, insufficient product suport, didn't last even 2 yrs

Title: Looks Great
PostedNovember 6, 2014
Yes, I would recommend this product
This looks great. you can customize this product to your every need on earth. I am a student needing a fast computer for school, rec, and gaming. This looks perfect for just that. Get this laptop with office and your set.
I purchased an alienware 18 with 32g ram, dual 880 8 g video cards, windows 7 ultimate, 256 g SSD and 1T disk drive, blu-ray player and i7-4 930MX processor. For normal use the computer boots about as fast as my 4 year old xps 16. I have not had a chance to play games so far but I did try Skyrim and it played at the ultra settings with no problems. Going through doors took only a few seconds and I seemed to be able to see further off into the distance. The color of the display was way off when the computer arrived. The display looked much better after I calibrated it with a spyderTV elite. I have never seen a display with the colors so messed up before. The bad news is the computer locks all the time. Sometimes just checking email with no other windows open. In the two weeks I have had the computer it has locked up over 20 times. Most of the locks up seem to happen when I am using google chrome to surf the web. Pages that cause the computer to lock up with chrome work fine with IE 11. The computer is faster than my old computer but not that noticeable for most applications. The 18 is a nice computer. If it did not lock up so much I would be very happy. As it is the price for this computer was money poorly spent.
Pros:play games on ultra settings
Cons:locks up way too much

Title: You Can find a similiar machine for half the price.
PostedAugust 21, 2014
No, I do not recommend this product.
Aside from the video cards and lights on this machine it is just OK. I think a lot more consideration could go into the utilization of such expensive video cards and setup. It seems well built but I don't drop my laptop anyway. I am more interested in performance and for the money its soarly missing an SSD hard drive and faster ram. It doesn't even come with a blu-ray reader to watch movies on this thing. Just games I guess, I just would expect more for the price. My two year old XPS with a gen 1 i7 with SSD AND Corsair ram performs equally aside from the video cards. I have written them about issues but three days have gone by and no response.
Pros:lights and casing, all around performance
Cons:missing blu-ray, missing ssd, edge of casing for typing, usb are intermittant
this product was great until yesterday, the lap didnt want to start the next day all it apear was : no boot device found. press any key to reboot the machine_
I HAVE ONLY A MONTH WITH IT , and when it was plugged in it was with a backup
i liked this lap it was fast and good graphics but then this happened, and the worst part was that i didn't have time to play games

Hello Hector18,
I want to thank you for taking some time to write this review of your Alienware 18 laptop. I apologize that you have run into a problem with the boot sequence.
