Works flawlessly, the core i3 option with 4 gb of ram is just a perfect combination. Perfect for mid-level tasking and the graphics are not to shabby for an integrated video card. 720 P on this 14' screen is quiet good. I can easily be watching a video, open up 15-20 tabs on the browser and stil have extra processing power to do anything else I need. As for the battery life, anywhere between 4-6 hours based on the level of processing and screen brightness.

This computer dose not do any multimedia worth the hype. It will not play on a tv in high definition, it can not automatically switch between Bluetooth and speakers or headset without reloading drivers!!!! It dose not play DVD's lousing drivers consistently. I have had to reload operating system twice. It has not fixed any of the problems. This is the most disappointing computer that I have ever owned I would rather go back to a reliable 386 than deal with the problems this one has. It only is my video conferencing box and it works ok for that. I have 3 cameras and need to switch between them and it is using a Logitech switcher and not the internal drivers so it works most of the time. It still louses the drivers and I have to reinitialize the driver and call to fix the problem. This is costing me money and clients. I do not think that I will be recommending dell or buying a dell product ever again. We bought 3 of these units and nothing but problems!!!

You mentioned you reloaded the OS. If you are going to do this, make sure you are reloading to factory spec. Dell Includes wasy to put the system back to spec, then use the link above to ensure you have the latest drivers.

well, I purchased vostro 2420 online a week ago. It took less than 10 days to arrive. pros: nice touchpad, battery backup upto 5 hrs in new, sound is loud and clear,strong body
cons: there is no light given on power button,my system came a brigt(dead)pixel, camera is of low quality, rest everything is ok.
so,I will recommend this to other users..
Pros:Travel, photovideo editing, Gaming, net surfing, bulky softwares

Hardware is amazing for the price, really good performing regardless of the OS.
The only reason why I am not giving it 5 stars is due to the fact that the first recommended update to pre-installed Ubuntu 11.10 messes up display driver (flashing green lines on top of the screen after update and reboot). Had to rollback using recovery media and then de-select kernel and xorg packages before update to avoid issue repeating itself.
