This server perform very well on any open source operating system such as centos, freebsd, ubuntu. Last year when i start changing servers to this brand, it have not give me much hassle to installed it or even a problem, i mean no problem at all, and i love the built in redundancy storage and power supply at no extra cost. After using it over a year already, now i have just purchased 4 more for our company used and change our other old server to this for our web server, that run high traffic everyday. I even used it for our firewall with open source os. I might purchase this server again in the future. Thumb up from me for this product.
The server performs very well under OpenSuSE Linux. It provides very good file-serving throughput for a medium-sized office, with varying workloads.
The optional RAID controller is very responsive and provides some security against disk failure, making it a very worthwhile addition to the system.

BEST SERVER FOR SMEs

Yes, I would recommend this product
If you are looking for a cost effective, single Quad processor solution, with built in redundancy like RAID 1 and dual power supply (which were only available in the higher series previously), look no further. This is the one to get. If you prefer better cooling for the server, look at T300 with similar specs. Also a good bet!
The Quad Core processor should be enough to handle most tasks today.
Pros:The build quality - solid, and compact
The built in redundancy - Storage + Power! at no extra cost!
Hot swap drives
Not too noisy fans
A class above it's own
Good processing power
Good price - try comparing this to the R200, and you'll surely get the R300.
Solid metal front bezel/cover.
