Set this up using Ubuntu Linux and postfix/dovecot. RAID1 500GB (sata) hard drives and 8 GB memory. Never misses a beat, small form factor, solid performer.

Pros: Configured with RAID 1 by default, Installed WMware esxi 5.0 is flawless like a charm.
Cons: Little noise but its fine when your server room separated, no available slot for addition HDD, windows 2008 R2 came with Dell are not compatible with VMware virtual server.
Solutions: Download windows 2008 R2 evaluation copy from Microsoft web site, install as guest OS and key-in your original product key and register to activate.

good for small offices

I was concerned by the reviews about the R210 but these ones seem nice and quiet (well when unloaded at least) the fans can become rather loud during boot/post and I've not given them a workout yet but overall they seem pretty good.
even non hotswap disks in trays would be nice Though rather than needing to pull the thing apart to swap a disk.
The shortest the rails can go is 600mm btw, i put them in a 450mm deep wall cabinet and needed to chop up the mounting rails to get it all to fit.
Pros:virtualisation server
