Inspiron Zino HD

Review:Excellent PC.
Very easy to set up, worked straight out of the box, even recognised the Sony AV Amp I plugged it into.
Very quiet operation and is located over my satelite receiver with no heating issues.
Performs very well at browsing, on-line gaming and streaming video, despite weak broadband signal at this location.
Also, very glad I ordered the matching remote control unit - makes life a lot easier when watching DVD's.

Amazing Little computer, might need a few tweaks

Review:I have had my Zino HD 400 for almost 6 months and am SO impressed, but there are things you need to know. First, if you use it with hdmi cable and have no sound go to the sound in windows 7 control panel and select hdmi. Second you might have to make it fit to your hd tv. With the Ati 4330 graphics card go to catalyst control center and find the property's and adjust to fir your aspect if it does not fit. Make sure your tv is set to 16.9. This part might be tricky and you might want to use google for help. Windows 7 gives the Ati 4330 a 5.9 (out of 7)for 3d graphics, impressive for a small form factor computer. Also get at least a Athlon x2 cpu. These are low power but very capable cpu's.
In all the 16 years and with all the computers I have owned, this is my favorite. Plays dvd movies and 1080p videos without effort yet uses only 38 watts. I can most anything my high power desktop can do. I am not a big gamer but this will play many games. I also added a dell wireless keyboard and mouse for $49.00 Very solid mouse and keyboard with the usb receiver for a lot less than many other brands.
Dell does have sales from time to time and you can save a lot of money so use the internet to look for sales. My only regret is when I bought this unit on sale is that I didn't buy 2. This is the perfect home media center pc and a very capable (with a few upgrades) desktop pc.
I have not had one single hiccup with the Zino hd 400.

Zino HD

Product Uses:family entertainment, streaming, photo video & music collection, surfing, homework, sky player
Review:I have just bought a top of the range Zino HD to replace my 10 year old Dell Dimension 8200, what a difference time makes and what a delight to use.
I recently turned our Dining Room (only ever used at Christmas time) into a Family games /media room.
The Zino HD is hooked up to a new Panasonic 50” Plasma and a new Panasonic Blu-Ray Home Cinema system and a Wi console. The windows Media Centre seems to be sorted now compared with earlier versions and very easy to use, we have also subscribed to the Sky player for fun.
I would recommend the Zino HD to anyone who doesn’t want a Tea Box next to the telly and forget the overpriced Apple equivalents.
We are also proud owners of 2 Inspiron Laptops and 1 Studio Laptop and couldn’t go past Dell.
By the way, we are normal people and not Computer Geek’s.
The only quirk I have with the Zino is:-
Why did they not fit an optical output?
The HDMI output does not give a sound output to the TV. I have had to run a separate phono output / twin channel input cable from the Zino to the Home Cinema System. But apart from that, it’s great.

Overheating, worked around using eSata ext disk.

Product Uses:media pc, office/studying
Review:Worked fine for a year, then constant bluescreens. Narrowed down to overheating as happened more often when the Zino was pushed such as video conversion.
Removed the internal hard disk, bought a caddy and connected via external eSATA connection, no problems since.

Zino HD

Review:We use it as the multimedia PC mainling staying connected to the TV. The graphic working smoothly with Windows Media Center with tv card and attenna. I can record TV as it technically now functioning as out DVR box w/o Cable TV bill. At the mean time we use Netflix, Hulu, Youtube and all kinds of internet tv. So far we are really happy with the performance.

Works well

Product Uses:htpc
Review:Works well for it's intended use as a HTPC. Very easy to get up and running.
I did have problems with the wireless feature, very inconsistent connecting to my network. Tried a new router (needed to upgrade anyway) but that didn't solve my issues. I ended up just purchasing a new wireless card with the dual frequencies and that has solved the problem.

Good but not great

Product Uses:streaming, email, photos
Review:Overall the computer has been doing what I want but there have been several gliches and when I called support they were not able to help. I have my set up into my flat screen. Most of the time it works good to stream movies and check email and do normal things. I had to fix some sound settings and the video driver still turns off somemtimes for no reason. It acts weird when it is put in sleep mode and I start to use it. Nothing a simple restart wont fix but still annoyting. Overall the computer is doing what I want it to do.

Great system

Product Uses:surfing the internet and checking email, music and pictures
Review:I am very satisfied overall with my purchase. It is lightning fast and easy to navigate. The only negative is that there are no instructions on how to set up the remote that came with the unit. Otherwise it has been flawless.

Getting there

Product Uses:domestic use
Review:For:
It's certainly quicker than my old e machines desk top.
The size is superb and the noise once it is running is negligible.
The picture quality for DVD's is OK
The HDMI Connection to my TV supplies both Video and audio signal.less wires - good!
Straight into my wireless network with no problems.
Wireless keyboard and mouse fine
Against:
Really does not like Firefox and Thunderbird and have switched to Opera. Is this the unit itself or Windows 7 ??
DVD picture ok but not as good as a cheap Samsung upscaling DVD player I have been using up till now.
Key Board could do with some indication of what the buttons do, at the moment I am only guessing.
Early days but as yet glad I bought it.
Keep you posted

zino hd 410 uk model

Product Uses:behind main tv, general computing
Review:The unit is really compact which is what I wanted, the blu ray player pixalates with most discs i have tried so far, but the machine does suit my purpose, I chose the higher spec option on offer, maybe dell could investigate yet further higher spec models
in summary very good machine and would buy another without doubt

Inspiron Zino HD

Review:Dell shipped me the Inspiron Zino HD quickly, initial setup was easy. My only complaint is the Dell DW 1501 wireless card. It will not handle 5Ghz Wireles N Frequency, not will it support expanded 2.4Ghz (300Mbps) speed. The computer is great, the wireless card is an embarrasment and should be replaced in the lineup with something much better like an Intel 6200 wireless card.

Just not enough!!!

Product Uses:watch movies, stream movies
Review:I bought this thinking I could watch HD movies that I have purchased online... not the case. It is glitchy and the video stops, pixelates, starts, pixelates and so on.Smaller files are fine and Blue rays movies are fine it they are on a dvd. Also video streaming is inadequate. Comes with a remote control, but not sure why??? it controls nothing that I see, or at least anything I use. It comes with outdated software as well. The video card stops working from time to time when surfing the web (not while watching a movie...odd) then sends an error message to the monitor stating it has recovered from an error without saying what it is...

Review:This is an all purpose machine, I am using it as a general desktop. It's a bit slower than what I thought it would be. The display driver keeps failing, so I have to find a replacement driver. I like the SyncUp.

For What I Wanted...It's Great !

Review:I wanted a small and quiet pc for my greatroom. One that could run my video surveilance software (Blue Iris), monitor my home control software (HomeSeer) and web browse. Displaying on either or both a 22" monitor or Samsung 46" HDTV. Also be able to play Sirius Internet radio thru my sound system. I am sure there is more I'll ask of it later, but these things it is doing perfectly so far. I matched it with a bluetooth Logitech mini keyboard.
