Title: Ok for the money
Date: December 29, 2008
Pros-Its a cheap GPS -It gets you from point A to point B ConsTo many to list but most notiable, week signal lost it under an over pass in traffic, can't change voice, and when it re-routes you it wants you to turn around instead of just going to the next street.
Review:You get what you pay for.

Title: Pharos Drive 250 is easy to use, and a great value
Date: June 19, 2008
ProsLarge screen with easy to see icons Simple graphics, easy to interpret Navigate to POI selection is AWESOME Simple menu system Auto night and day screen Auto zooming based on speed Text to voice is understandable Finds GPS signals quickly Updates route quickly if you miss a turn ConsCannot input way-points, it navigates to one selected destination at a time Speaker is sensitive to set, but once it's set, it sounds fine
Review:I bought one of these for my "directionally challenged" wife who has a hard time with complicated electronic devices. She can navigate throught the menus, no problem. We like it so much, I plan to get one for my car too!

Title: great portable GPS at a bargain
Date: June 9, 2008
Pros. clear and large screen . annouce turn-by-turn directions with street names . GPS is very sensitive, it tracked me into my garage and house . user interface is simple and easy . come with carry bag and AC charger ConsIt would be nice if this device could provide gas prices and traffic alerts. Need to hold power button for a while to turn on the device.
Review:Does it come with different colors? My girl friend likes brighter color.

Title: Review: Pharos Drive GPS 250
Date: May 29, 2008
ProsAt $299.99 (list), the Pharos Drive GPS 250 is quite a bargain, especially since it hardly seems like an entry-level model. This inexpensive device comes with many of the features found in premium, higher-priced personal navigators, such a large, 4.3-inch screen, a sensitive, top-notch satellite receiver, and text-to-speech functionality. On the road, the GPS 250 created routes that were consistent with test routes generated by other devices using Navteq maps for navigation. During my standard route calculation tests, the GPS 250 took approximately 12 seconds to plot a trip to a destination 12 miles away in Brooklyn. Finding its way to a destination 640 miles away in Ohio required 21 seconds. Route recalculation time after a missed turn was acceptably speedy. Cons- Lacks media players and a Bluetooth phone interface - Support only two spoken languages, English and French - Its POI database is small
Review:Small POI database aside, if you're looking for a basic, wallet-friendly, widescreen GPS, the Pharos Drive GPS 250 is definitely worth checking out. For a video review, please search Pharos Drive GPS 250 Video Review on PC Magazine web site.

Title: OK, very slow and don't rely on built in addresses
Date: May 19, 2008
ProsFor the price it's a good deal but you really do get what you pay for. Cons1. Address book is severely out of date, it has taken me places that have been closed for years. (Forget about updating the software, if you remove the memory card you void the warranty) 2. Very slow, takes around 10-20 minutes to obtain a GPS signal, may be my area but I am just north of Orlando and it takes fooorrreeeveeerrrrrr!!! I did download an update from the manufacturer to no avail. 3. Voice direction gets a little annoying, it will prompt you 1 mile, 1/2 mile, .2 miles and at turn (sounds good right?) WRONG! when you are traveling county roads or roads with long or multiple names you will feel like it's prompting you for 5 minutes to make a turn. you cannot turn off this feature.
Review:Spend a little more money and get a better brand / model, it's not that this is a bad unit it's just that you the little annoyances it has will quickly make you wish you had bought something better.

Title: Solid Product Poor Company
Date: February 29, 2008
ProsUnit does what it is suppose to do and does it well. Unit can be modified with ease ConsPharos did not honor my rebate because I had a coupon code I applied at checkout from Dell .. I believe the company behind the product is just as important as the product itself and thats why the low star rating. If you can get this product without a rebate at a good price and don't need to deal with the company then go for it, I think you will be pleased.

Title: Great first GPS
Date: January 16, 2008
Proslots of features you only find on more expensive units, easy to use/navigate the menu, bigger screen a plus, A/C charger included, which is usually a add-on on the more expensive units. Quick when it comes to recalculate routes. Has everything a basic GPS needs (and more) for a great price. Yeah, there is always "bigger is better", but don't fall always for the big names too quick. The Pharos does the trick. ConsUnit outlet for car power connector should be on the right side (not a big deal). Plug for cig.lighter outlet should be angled (interfering when shifting).

Title: Pharos GPS 250
Date: December 31, 2007
ProsVery easy to use. Really didn't use the instructions that came with it. After a few minutes, it just all came together. Very happy with the performance of the GPS. Our first trip was from Tulsa, Ok to Austin, Tx. Getting through Dallas was a snap. Plenty of warning on turns and exits. ConsHaving trouble with registering the GPS at Pharos.com. Probably my fault. Can't get the tech help from Pharos because of the holidays, and they are closed. Not a problem so far. Our first trip was to Austin, Tx, and on the north side of Austin there are a lot of new main roads. The GPS showed we were out in the middle of a field off of 620 on the North side of Austin. I hope there is an update that will show where we were. I though when I ordered it, I read that the download updates were free. I can't seem to find that now. Hopefully after the holidays, we can get all this worked out.

Title: Great GPS Unit
Date: December 23, 2007
ProsIt has lots of features you find on much more expensive GPS such as text to speech, StarIII antenna, walking mode, rerouting, and comes with all accessories. The voice prompts is clear and understandable. The interface is simple and intuitive. It picks up signal fairly quickly even on a cold start. The most I've had to wait is about a minute but once it has the signal it stays locked on. ConsThe text-to-speech voice is not natural speech. It is kind of difficult to demount, once the unit snapped on to the car mount.
Review:I am satisfied with this units performance. For its price I would recommend this product to anyone who is interested in looking for a simple but reliable GPS unit.
