Review:The playback software is clumsy and not very intuitive. I do not like it. I will use the Windows programs to handle my making needs.
The drive itself seems to do speedy file copies, and plays music just fine without any memory pauses while it "buffers." That just does not happen. So, I very much like the drive for my needs.

Review:My DVD/CD accessory to my neat Mini 10V is just perfect for me. I travel a lot and now I can watch movies which I bring along with me. Also, I can rip or burn CDs, which makes it even more special. You might wonder why I would get the Mini 10-V? Because it is light weight..and compact; but with a keyboard as big as a regular laptop. It has a Passion Purple shell, so it is known as the Purple People Eater. I would not have anything else but a Dell. It suits me to a "tee".
There are no cons with this item, nor with my laptop, as far as I am concerned. I have given Dell laptops as gifts and graduation presents. Dell is number one with me..

Review:Dell software support told me I had re-install Windows XP to fix the faulty power save feature that was locking up my mini 1210 apparently due to a bad driver or some other Windows XP software cause. Therefore I was forced to buy an external drive. I chose this one because it was the least expensive. It works fine.

Title: I/O Magic External DVD Blues

Review:Okay, I spoke to a few technicians regarding this device. When I built my Inspiron Mini 9, back in Jan '09, Dell had suggested (through their build wizard) to purchase this "Made for Dell" external DVD Burner in the unlikely event I will ever need to re-install my O/S. I reformat my system all the time, playing with all of the different O/S's on the market that claim compatibility with this little unit. Unfortunately, I've never been able to successfully use this device as a bootable optical device. the system simply will not boot with this device. It has successfully played a CD (not DVD) once. Although it was purchased with my laptop, Dell does not offer any warranty after 21 days. Why doesn't this surprise me? So, what a bargain! For $90, I received a DVD burner, that comes with a poor quality USB cable, and the Mini9's USB ports apparently don't offer adequate power for the drive. Oh, I've tried all 3 ports, purchased a "Highspeed" USB2.0 cable, and to no avail, this little paperweight simply does not work. Hey Dell, your recommendation for me to call I/O Magic to have it replaced is a crock of garbage. If the Mini9 doesn't have the capabilities to power up this device, what is I/O Magic going to do for me? Send me anothe useless paperweight? Indeed, they did. guess what, Habib... the replacement didn't work, either.

Review:I have a Masters in Information systems so I was fully prepared to get into some heavy duty install procedures. SURPRISE plug in 1 usb cord, insert software disc and go right out of the box! after software installed and a reboot, I was watching disc 2 of the Eagles Farewell tour in Melbourne Aus, in about 20 minutes from the time I opened the box. Great product works great and could not be simpler to set up and run.

Review:We have had a portable CD/DVD -- read/write drive the DVD playback software is an incredible and small light weight is accessory. If you own a mini like my many can than a century like this is practically mandatory because of its ability to a load programs to store data on the CD or DVD receives same data for use in another computer or elsewhere. Without this accessory the capabilities of our Mini 10 would be severely limited. On a business trip or just a trip to friends and family the very small CD/DVD-RW drive allows us to share our lives with others around us.
