ProsPrice was not bad at all.
ConsSeems slower than my Nvidia 8600 GT with 256meg of memory even though it's supposed to be faster & more memory.

Title: Great Card,Good Value
|
Date: December 11, 2008
|
ProsThis card is not power hungry.Runs great on my Dell Inspiron 530.Small,and easy to install.Great graphics;clear and vibrant.I would recommend downloading the latest drivers at Radeon's support site.
ConsThe fan is a little louder than I thought it would be,but I'm getting used to it all ready.
Review:Other than the fan, none that I can think of...Oh,and don't overclock it. Would buy it again in a minute.

Title: Horrid
|
Date: October 20, 2008
|
ProsLooks good at first nice features on the box. When im doing simple tasks its runs fine for the most part
ConsConstant artifacting of old screens. if i move around too many things it freezes the monitor and reboots it. In Vista was just terrible in XP its somewhat useable. Drivers dont fix anything tried rolling back to using the current with same issues. Thought it was hardaware and exchanged the card and still the same issues. I even went out and got the 500 watt PSU from PC power and cooling for my 8400 and doesnt do anything to rectify the issues
Review:steer clear of this card was intending on using it as a means to hooks up for media center capabilities but cant even run common pc tasks without issues. No knock on ATI ive got a x800xt that i upgraded from that still does gaming fantastic just wanted more options thats why i originally desired the card.

Title: Not for the faint of heart
|
Date: July 28, 2008
|
ProsRaised my Vista graphics card power rating from 2.0 to 5.9. Slightly smoother screen transitions. I'm not much of a gamer.
ConsWhile the Dell site asks for a 350 watt power supply, the vendor site says 400 watts. My Dell Dimension 9100 has a 375 watt power supply supporting 2 internal hard drives and an external hard drive. When I rebooted with this video card, I got a RAID array failure! A Dell tech off-handedly suggested a power problem. I bought a powered USB hub and ran all my external devices through it. That solved the problem. My point is that this is not a simple card swap. You may need some knowledge and patience to work through the issues.
Review:Be sure to create a System Restore point and do a full backup of your hard drives before the install. I'm serious. The instructions say to remove the previous driver before installing this card. They suggest using "Uninstall or Change a Program", but that didn't remove the old driver. You need to go to the driver tab for your existing card in Device Manager, uninstall the driver, the screen then goes black but don't panic, power off and reboot your PC manually. Your PC comes up with the default video driver. Download the latest vendor driver install package but don't run it. Now replace the video card and boot up. Execute the downloaded driver install package. Reboot your PC again. Now you are up with the new card and new driver. As you can see, the issues are solvable but not trivial.

Title: Good For The Price
|
Date: June 28, 2008
|
ProsOnce I got it working, have no problems.
ConsI can't be 100% sure the problem is with the card, but in my Dell Dimension 8400, it is an upgrade to the Nvidia that came with the machine. I wish I had stuck to Nvidia. Once in a blue moon I can get it to run something in 3d, but every since I got it I think I have only had it work 1 week.
Review:Pretty sure it's some kind of setting and conflict with DirectX but I can't for the life of me figure it out.

Title: this card has an issue
|
Date: June 5, 2008
|
ProsWhen I got this card to work, games looked beautiful.
ConsThere is an issue ---"display driver has stopped and recovered...atikmdag" with many ATI/Nvidia cards anf Windows Vista (could be XP too. freezes games and then comes back in, makes games unplayable... games are the reason I got this card.
Review:Don't by any graphics card until you know this issue isn't with them. I would recommened not buying ATI, as this issue has been seen in forum posts since 2006. Still no fix, and no recalls. Wth...

Title: Noisy Fan
|
Date: April 4, 2008
|
ProsSharp graphics on all of my programs - ATI Console is easy to navigate and feature rich
ConsThe fan is way too noisy
Review:After reading the first review comments about the fan being quiet, I am wondering if maybe I got somewhat of a lemon. The card works fine, but the fan is annoyingly loud. I've read reviews stating nVidia fans are loud for the first few weeks, but then quieten down. Hopefully this ATI card will too.

Title: The Upgrade for the low budget Gamer
|
Date: March 24, 2008
|
ProsRuns all of my games and programs on maximum graphics settings. It's fan is quiet, and it's extremly easy to install.
ConsThe catalyst driver makes my screen hazy after playing games occasionally. Didn't affect anything, just minorly annoying.
Review:For a hundred and seventy dollars this card will run Bioshock on maximum settings. I wouldn't try that with Crysis, but otherwise I think it will run most new games on higher settings with little or no problem. A great card if you are looking for budget/performance ratio.

Title: Great mid priced card for stock computers
|
Date: February 24, 2008
|
ProsThis card works great with my 3D apps and gaming. The best part is that overheating and a lower power supply requirement make it a fantastic upgrade for mid range out of the box Dell pc's like mine. Installation is a breeze with no extra power supply connectors or separate sound cable connections required.
ConsNone so far.

Title: Did not work with Dimension 8400
|
Date: January 3, 2008
|
ProsLooks like a fantastic card. Excellent graphics for the all-too-few minutes it was working between resets.
ConsMade system unstable, with the graphics card resetting whenever I attempted to run a graphics intensive game or program, and eventually crashing the machine completely. I ended up returning it after never getting it to work with my Dimension 8400.
Review:Every time I booted the machine with the card in place, it gave me a bios error saying the PCI Express was operating in 1x mode. In Windows (XP) the graphics would tear in 3D games like world of warcraft and would run for a maximum of an hour before resetting the GPU (the card), and eventually freezing the entire system. I tried reseating the card, updating the drivers, updating the bios but eventually conceded defeat and sent the card back. From what I read on forums including the Dell customer support forum, it appears the issue is with the power supply that comes with the 8400.

Title: Nice Change
|
Date: December 17, 2007

ProsNo problem handling multiple monitors with different resolutions HDMI adapter included for DVI out to HDTV
ConsHaven't found any yet
Review:Works great with my Media Center PC and this was an upgrade from ATI 300 card with 128MB that was included with my Dell 2 years ago. What a difference!!! I recommend this for anyone who has multiple monitors & can use the HDMI to its fullest potential.
