Title: A good hiking unit - Date: February 21, 2009
ProsCompact color screen with mapping ability. Expandable with use of Micro SD card. Garmin accessories are widely available. The sensitivity of the antenna is great.
ConsUnit seems to burn through rechargeable batteries pretty quick. I can only get about 12 hours of uninterrupted use out of a set.

Review:If you need a small mapping GPS for hiking, this is it. The unit holds to its satellites when all other units in the group have dropped them.

Proswe bought this unit to take with us on a fishing trip to Canada and is was used and abused and with stood it all, it did what we needed it to do and everyone could use it with ease. I am taking it on a hunting trip next and I am sure it will be very useful.
Conswe can find a case to put it in so the glass in front don't get scratched up

Title: The handheld rescue guide and so much more!! Date: March 3, 2008
ProsThis unit for me has been a solid buy. The accurate sirf gps chip in this thing has locked onto at least 5 to 12 satelites at any given time. The expaned sd slot is really helpfull also, allowing you to load various regions of your choice.
ConsNot many in this area. If you are planning on using this extensivly in the car, it may not be a good choice. This unit is geared to hikers, boaters..outdoor activities which is why I bought it anyway. The inabilty to store a vast amount of waypoints was a low spot but with a little twaeking I was able to always have enough room

Review:this unit is the best out there at the current time for hiking, backpacking, boating, exploring the great outdoors. Getting lost with this unit would be very hard. Although to the pure gps afficanado...Who could find quirks in this unit ... It going to be hard to beat this great, handheld gps unit!!!

Title: Garmin Veteran Date: December 3, 2007
ProsThe Garmin 60CSx is by far the most useful tool/toy I have in my inventory. I am using it on road trips, while bouncing around the woods on my ATV, while hiking, and while geocaching. I am surprised to see how fast and how many satellites it picks up. On my last geocache hunt, it led me to the spot and told me I had arrived. With my old garmin I would have to search a bit but this one puts me right on top of the cache. It is a feature rich, high quality GPS. I guess you get what you pay for stands true again.
One important note is that with my Garmin V I was always having to take my laptop on a trip so I could remove maps and add maps. When I added the 2 Gig SD card to the 60CSx, I was able to load all of the US and Canadian maps.
ConsIf you plan on doing road trips, don't even order this GPS without also planning to purchase the City Navigator software.

Review:In the past I have used a Garmin II Plus and a Garmin V. It was a difficult decision figuring out which model to purchase but not which brand. Garmin technical support has always treated me well and been able to resolve any issue..

Title: mt whitney Date: July 23, 2007
Prosis able to track very well with dense cover and through canyons. Rugged and easily manageable for quick reference while hiking or walking. Just used it to track how much walking I would do when we went to Disneyland. Tracked very well yet lost connectivity a couple of times. Other than that it tracked well and recording that we had walked approximately 16 miles.
Conspurchase of costly maps.

Review:Get a screen protector or case.

Title: Good Quality Date: June 19, 2007
ProsQuick warm up time, large screen, quality construction, stores a huge amount of cache waypoints and information, transfer waypoints from computer to device... no more entering information manually.., nice to have a digital compass.
ConsYou need the backlight to see the screen unless your in direct sunlight, default maps in my Magellan 200 are more complete than in this unit, topo maps shown are not included, routing is useless unless you spend the money for the detailed maps, icons on menu page are a little too cartoonish for a serious gps unit.

Review:Overall this is a good quality, accurate, rugged gps system. If you are looking for routing, you will spend as much upgrading this than simply buying a good auto unit. Since this unit is geared for hiking and geocaching, you would think that it would come with the topo maps that are shown with the unit. To trick out the unit, you will spend another 200 or 300 bucks for maps and accessories. However, this is a quality unit. I kept 15-20 ft. accuracy in a local canyon under very heavy tree cover while caching here in Salt Lake.

ProsThe top of the line Model for Geocaching. This is the best, very accurate, quick warm up time, everything you want in a hand held GPS
ConsMaps, and finding maps for it. it comes with a base map which is basically main highways. to get detailed maps you have to buy Garmin Software if you can find it and afford it.
