Title: JVC hard disk camcorder Date: January 11, 2007
ProsNo tapes, no disks, no problem. Download video directly into PC for editing and storage, or burn directly to DVD. Four modes of video quality gives you flexibilty when managing space on the hard drive, also has a memory card slot for emergency storage of video or pics. The stock battery will give you about an hour of record time, so a more powerful backup is recommended, (standard procedure for anyone who's ever owned a camcorder). Very easy to use and lightweight. Thumbs up to the large OPTICAL zoom.
ConsThe low light option does not work nearly as well as the Sony, and the built in light will not do much except to drain the battery quickly. The jury is still out on the picture quality. I don't think it is as good as my old mini dv format, even on the fine setting, but it is close. The small size is a minor inconvience for my larger hands, but fits my wife perfectly.

Review:Great little camcorder if you are tired of messing with mini dv tapes, or dvd disks. It does probably lack some of the bells and whistles you'll find on the Sony's, and other more expensive cameras, but is definately the best bang for your buck in this price range. I would recommend this camcorder.

Title: Not the best, but CERTAINLY not the worst! Date: January 8, 2007
ProsAlright, first of all, it's size... It's tiny! I has a massive 20 gig HDD which is way more than enough. It takes stills as well. Cool features that show HDD space and battery life remaining. Fade effects. Comes with software, though not most curent versions, still useful. 32x optical and 800x digital ZOOM!
ConsOK, my major disappointment: Night Vision... or lack there of. Although this camcorder has NightView, it is horrible. The frame rate is dramatically decreased and the image skips. There is also no view finder, just an LCD, which leads me to my next con: Horrible battery life. I upgraded my battery, but the stock lasts ONLY 70 minutes MAX! Video quality is nice, but digital stills are small, and fuzzy due to lack of stabilization. For ~$600, it doesn't come with a case.

Review:Great camera. Not the best deal over the Web, but worth it if you have a Prefered Account. Buy a case and spare batteries. You must have a computer or direct burning knowledge to take full advantage of this camcorder. Due to its miniscule size and feather weight, this camcorder turns heads... which is a good thing. Believe me, you'll enjoy this camcorder.
