Review:usingan upgraded soundcard is a plus this system really delivers on the power crisp highs great mids and mind blowing lows.

ProsAs a previous owner of the Logitech Z-560, I've had some experience with the quality that Logitech is known for producing. The sub finally went out after 5 years, along with one of the speakers, so I decided to go with the next logical choice: the Z-5500. I must say, the 5.1 surround is truly dynamic and accurate. But what steals the cake is all the options you have to mess around with: sound effects, input options, level settings, and oodles of other settings. And it's all digital. And believe it or not, having a remote is actually quite convenient; it's really the icing on the cake.
ConsThat being said, the only problem I really have with the setup is the relatively weak sub. The Z-560, rated at 400-watts, had a 240-watt sub, while the 550-watt Z-5500 has a sub with ~190 watts. While I'm sure all that extra wattage is being put to good use in the surround speakers, I've always been a fan of the big booms, and it's probably the only thing I'd change about it.

Review:Despite this small drawback, the other options are pretty much nonexistent: this is still the best value available, especially if you can get it for less than 250.

ProsIts has a speaker and bass setting the remote and the durability. the bass on this thing is sooo loud that even when its on low like on 1 or 2 bars of volume u can hear the bass in the next rooms down the hall cause my moms always yellin at me lol
Consif u put the speakers levels max with the bass max the speakers will almost out sound the sub i put my speakers at half and my sub at max

Review:i love it i would buy it again its really loud with my sound card i have the bass level up more and it knocks everything off my desk its so loud. i had one song on the bass was sooo loud that i closed my door and went downstairs and put my hand on the wall and felt the bass and herd the bass clearly i wanna see if i can hook it up to my TV its well worth the money and if u like loud music and alot of bass the will last u a long time get this u wont regret it ive had it for over 6 months now and its still sounds great and has no problems

ProsI replaced a perfectly good Boston Acoustic quad speaker system, which I bought with my first computer around 2000. I wanted the surround sound, and I was looking for better sound from my cd collection. I hooked these speakers up without any problems, and hooked into the SigmaTel sound "card" built into my system. I also downloaded iTunes to load my cds into my computer. I have to say that I am more than impressed. I am now able to use the graphic equalizer in iTunes to shape the sound from my computer. AWESOME!!!
ConsI have other things to do besides sit at my computer listening to incredible music. I don't want to turn it off!

Review:Make sure you have an appropriate sound card. My old Sound Blaster card, which is no longer supported, would not provide surround sound. I am sure any of the new cards will work fine. An equalizer is a must. Download iTunes and simplify your life. Make sure you don't overdrive the preamp by having all your volume controls turned all the way up. Play around with the volume controls and equalizer. You will be able to get it sounding better than your expensive stereo system.

Proswow, this thing is nuts. i havent owned a 5,1 system before but this thing hits hard the sound is truely amazing. the subwoofer hits harder than anything ive owned. sounds really nice under my desk i had to move it tho because it kept vibrating things off my desk lol! the speakers are nice too you dont need to have all 5 hooked up to have it work properly even tho id suggest having them 5.1. there are different settings on the control panel including a "night" mode is nice for listening if ur in an apartment or sumthing.
Consthe wires, always a pain. :( only other issue is the sub gets VERY warm. be careful were u put this puppy. i dont think it gets hot enough to melt wires but it gets pretty warm.

Review:i think if this system had wireless rear speakers atleast. it would be the best thing ever. i might actually get a second one for my bedroom lol!

ProsThis is just an all around great product. The bass is sharp, clear, and sounds amazing on all levels. The speakers don't get distorted when really turned up.

Review:For the price of this product, it's a steal to get such a great product for a fairly decent price. Before the price drop on this unit, I had bought a set of Harmon Kardon sound sticks. They're great speakers, but I found over time they began to sound distorted, as I tend to enjoy loud music and heavy bass. The subwoofer began to sound as if it were being overworked and the bass just didn't sound good. So when I found out the price of this unit had dropped, I immediately jumped on it and bought a set. They're amazing and I recommend them to anyone who loves music, heavy bass, or just want a great sounding speakers for a decent price. I can't say enough about these speakers, and the price is quite nice for such an amazing product. You may not want to spend 200 bucks for speakers in the beginning, but get em home and listen to the difference between these and your current speakers, and you'll be throughly impressed.

ProsSound quality is amazing. The bass is OUT of CONTROL, and the speakers go louder than anyone will ever need. These are sweet speakers that will make your neighbor want to call the police.
ConsThe subwoofer is heavy and hard to hide or place somewhere convenient
