ProsThe Inspiron 1525 offers a nice combination of performance and features at a very affordable price. I was very impressed when I received the laptop with how well it performs. The display is beautiful, and it runs Vista without a glitch.

Title: A lot of bang for the buck Date: April 1, 2009
ProsAfter reading some not so great reviews I was hesitant to buy the 1525. I'm happy to say I've encountered none of the problems the negative reviewers complained about. The 1525 replaces my old M1730 and is twice the machine at half the price. It's lightning fast (T6400 processor & 4 GB RAM) even with Vista. Boots from startup to ready to work in less than 60 seconds. Astounding battery life (upgraded to 9 cell) of about six hours in the perfomance mode. Haven't even tried the power save mode. Why bother? I just love this laptop. Highly recommended.
ConsKinda heavy, but that's due to 9 cell battery. Cheap sounding speakers.

ProsHigh end configuration for the price: Core2Duo Processor, 320 GB Hard Drive, 3 GB of RAM. That's a terrific config for a laptop for 650 dollars (including tax and shipping).
ConsSpeakers are horribly weak. I have had several laptops in the past but never saw such weak speakers before. If you are going to spend a lot of time on youtube watching videos or watching dvds, this isn't the laptop for you. You may be pleased with its speed but you will be constantly annoyed by its weak sound volume. You will press the volume button hundred times in the hope of raising the volume but your efforts will go in vain.

Review:This laptop is so different from other dell laptops. It's very light, has good looks, does not heat up too much and does not make too much noise. I recommend it if you have only 650 dollars in your pocket.

ConsThe battery life is poor. I purchased the lowest level battery, but nonetheless the battery life is a maximum of 1.5 hours on power saver mode, which is kind of unacceptable.

ProsIt is a nice laptop and for the most part functions as I expected.
ConsI have been having a lot of difficulty with Vista not keeping my internet connection. I also have problems with Firefox locking up during use. The space bar does not always register when I am typing.

ProsWorks for everything I need as a music student. I thought vista might be annoying, but I have gotten used to it and my computer is great!
ConsThe touchpad is VERY annoying. It is a part of the case whereas most touchpads are a separate piece from the case. It does not respond like a regular touchpad and anyone who tries to use my computer gets highly frustrated with it. Even when keeping it on the same setting, sometimes it is super sensitive and other times it is non-responsive. Works just fine with an external mouse. THE ONLY THING DISAPPOINTING ABOUT THIS LAPTOP IS THE TOUCHPAD!!!

ProsThe Dell Inspiron 1525 is a good value for the money. I was looking for a basic laptop that would give me a good size hard drive but not all the hightech "Bells and Whistles"

ProsSpeed is excellent. The screen is nice. Though if it was a matted screen I would have liked that. This was not an option. It sometimes is too bright.Cost was excellent for what it came with.
ConsHard drive not as large in usable memory as others of it's size.(320 gb) Mine is about 89% usable drive. From what I have read online 93-90 % is good.
No option to select a matted screen.

Review:Minor problem:This annoys me on a new machine.
Battery light does not seem to light as advertised. When the percentage of battery power is good, the led is not always lit.
