Title: After a YEAR, it is still going strong...
Date: June 5, 2009
Product Uses: Connecting with Friends, Travel, Gaming, Music & Movies, School, Presentation
Review:I have read the reviews of others and saw very few people place reviews who have owned the 1530 for over a year, so I decided to take it upon myself to give a review. I originally bought this computer after owning an overpriced IBM tablet with the movable touch screen. It had a lot of strength for a 13/14 inch computer, but as an avid PC gamer it just wasn't doing it for me. My boyfriend owns the Dell Inspiron (it is 3-4 years old and runs just like it did when he first bought it) and told me if I wanted a gaming PC with a low cost and customer support then Dell was the way to go. I purchased the XPS because of the credit deal and I could not be happier with my system. I can run WoW with full graphics and have no problems. Changing between programs was unheard of on my IBM, and the Dell handles it smoothly. I would like to conclude with saying my Dell has gone through a year of college, bumps, bruises, intense gaming, and all-around usage, but it stills works awesomely. If I have a problem with it Dell Customer suppport is there to fix the problem...they even made a house call once. I was not expecting that at all! If you aren't sure about a computer to buy this one is worth the money and will last you years to come. Even if you want another computer within a year, at least you won't still be making payments, because you spent very little on a great PC.

Title: Amazing

Review:I chose the XPS M1530 due to the great reviews here on Dell. I had previously been using an almost 5 year old Dell Inspiron 700m and well it was really time for something new and fast. As soon as I received the M1530 I just knew I made a great choice. Everything is soo fast and easy to use. I just love the touch sensitive media buttons.
Cons: The heat factor that others have mentioned. Easily fixed with a Belkin cooling pad that I found for $20.
The keyboard keys need to really be pressed down. Now this may be just me as I am still getting used to a bigger sized keyboard as the 700m keyboard was small and compact.

Title: Not worth it

Review:I was so excited to get this machine cause the specs and description made it sound like a monster of a machine. However, that was not the case. It takes forever to boot up and I have done all the mods (switching to classic view, using 2 processors, minimizing my start programs, etc). In addition, my programs take forever to load and those close with errors sometimes which is odd because it works fine on xp and on my mac. I am going to install XP on this machine and see if it helps but as of now, in my humble opinion, don't waste your money on this machine. Hopefully, Windows 7 will be a big improvement.

Title: A good machine.
Date: May 29, 2009
Product Uses: Connecting with Friends, Travel, Gaming, Music & Movies, School
Review:This is a slick little machine. Its a good size for travel, I toured Germany with it this winter. Also its a speedy little bugger and can hold a good amount of music and movies. The down side is the touch buttons that control volume and movie functions. Simply brushing dust off of the panel causes the buttons to activate and change volume, skip to the next chapter in a movie, or eject a disc. Kind of annoying. Also, the grid for the speakers is almost impossible to clean. Other than those minor things, Its a great machine!

Title: Solid Laptop with almost no Problems.
Date: May 28, 2009
Product Uses: Connecting with Friends, Video Editing, Travel, Gaming, Music & Movies, School, Presentation
Review:Pros The M1530 is a solid Laptop that I have found almost no problems with.e Its high quality screen allows for stunning video and gaming. The 2GB RAM in mine allows for effortless application changing. The Disk drive is quiet and reliable. The Keyboard is firm, and after over 2 years having one, I can say that none of the keys or mouse button has become loose. The Weight is acceptable for what you get, and battery life is excellent. Cons Speaker quality leaves some to be desired Not good for you if you don't like Vista. But I do!

Review:I'm overall satisfied with this laptop. There were some minor glitches that have seemingly worked themselves out but besides those which are no more the features on this laptop are perfect, size, slot drive, touch sensitive controls, wireless connectability, HDMI functions (needs an automatice audio switch but its not hard, just go to control panel>Hardware and Sound> Manage Audio Devices>and set the default to HDMI>switch back when ready to use laptop speakers or headphone), keyboard (quite and slightly beveled for form fit), bluetooth!!(keyboard and mice work great quick connection), its all here and great!

Review:I got this laptop just over one week ago, and let me tell you it came 4 days after i placed my order. Now That's fast.
It could be one of the nicest looking laptops that i ever seen. I love it's look ( i got the midnight blue ). I got it with the LED screen, It's amazing everything looks so good on it. I recommend you get this LED screen. The keyboard is good does not make to much noise and does not bounce. Never used my camera ( come's with 2Mp camera) but opened it just like that and the image looked very good. What I love about the XPS M1530 is that it's fast, when i say fast i mean i click on a folder and it just opens (FAST). Also love the finger print reader, I got use to it now and woks great. It does not really over heat like some people are saying ( and i leave it run for like 6 hours none stop) It gets a little hot but nothing to say it's a problem. The speakers are good for me I know allot of people are having complaints about them but i think there good for a laptop. If i really want to pump out my music I connect my Bose speakers on.
I general it's my favorite laptop/pc i have ever owned. I am very happy with this buy.
I would recommend this to everyday users like me ( i can't say gamers because i don't really play games on my laptop)

Review:I am not impressed at all with the quality of the system. The 9 Cell Bettery does not haold a very long charge, maximum is an hour. I was sent this as a replacement for another model and it is overrated. It is the last Dell product I will buy after buying multiple items from Dell. All repairs are done with reconditioned parts from other deam computers.

Title: XPS M1530: I love it!
Date: May 21, 2009
Review:Rather than to repeat all the up-side review data that is already stated here many times over, let me just add that this: I’m a small publisher and I create the camera-ready copy for the books I publish. I do the cover and inside graphics, the formatting, the layout and every other detail required to create this copy for the printers. Sometimes I have Photoshop, Illustrator, several Web sites, MS Word and other apps all open and running at the same time.
My desktop handled all of this quite well, but it was time to replace it and this time I wanted a laptop that I could use as a desktop replacement as well as a laptop. I found it. The XPS M1530 has not let me down yet. The real bonus of this setup is that I have it docked on my desk just to the right of my 22” display, so the laptop is my second display.
Before this setup materialized on my desk I could never have known how indispensable a dual-display setup is. I will never do without it again! It speeds up my work and lets me utilize my big display fully while keeping the tools I need on the laptop display.
Moving right along, this laptop runs 24/7 and has never approached “hot.” Warm, yes, when I really push it, but I’ve had it on my lap for long periods and it has never gotten as warm as any of the several other laptops (not Dells) in our office.
I love the slot-load DVD/CD drive and yes, it does make a slight clicking sound occasionally, but since it appears to be normal, it doesn’t bother me.
The bottom line is that I wanted a capable, fast and powerful laptop that would exceed the capabilities of my desktop, and I got it.
I did do one thing to it straight out of the box, however. I wiped VistaBloat and installed a nice, new copy of XP-Pro SP3. I almost didn’t buy this computer just because Dell would not supply it with XP as they do with other business laptops, but XP installed easily, recognized all the hardware, and was up and running quickly. To anyone else interested in doing this, visit Laptop Forums and do a search for this installation. There’s a complete, easy way to create a new boot disk from your XP-Pro disk. The new one will contain all the necessary drivers to make it happen glitch-free. The WiFi, camera, drives and everything else worked on the first boot-up. The best of both worlds: An XPS M1530 and no Vista! I’m stoked.
And on top of all that, it looks terrific! Very creative of the Dell designers to come up with a design that is functional, straightforward and yet it stands out from the rest with its distinctive, understated flash.
Cons: None.

Review:I purchased an XPS 1530 last May, and while it has performed competently, it is far from the speed demon I expected. However, its biggest shortcoming is its keyboard; Dell utilised a grey on grey color scheme, and the contrast is far from ideal... in a low light environment it is very difficult to discern the letters. It would have benefited from something as simple as utilizing black lettering, though a backlit keyboard would be a major improvement. Overall, there are better laptops for the money.

Title: Nice Laptop
Date: May 14, 2009
Product Uses: Presentation
Review:I have had the laptop for about 6 weeks and thus far has performed well, very quick, nice screen, and everything seems to work. I have yet to give an opinion to see how this will stand up with all my travel, airports, etc.
The only 2 items that is a little annoying is the mouse/tracking pad. I find my self having to hit the pad several times before it recognizes the cursor or goes to a web site. The other item was the on-line ordering process. After I configured the system the way I wanted it, Dell gave an estimated ship date of approximately 8 days. When I completed the order, it gave a ship date of approximately 6 weeks. The lap top ended up coming in less than 7 days.
Overall, I would recommend this lap top.
