ProsI love this computer! It was a great deal and so easy to build to suit all my business needs.
ConsSometimes when I'm typing the words can't seem to keep up. This is true both when typing and when backspacing.

ProsA good PC laptop replacement for desktop! Excellent speed with 3gig ram. Went with Windows XP cause Vista is still a little quirky, has too many "Gotchas" and I have too much invested in software that sometimes does not run on Vista. The Dell machine is great with MS Windows XP!! And it works with all my software!! XP is a very stable system.
ConsA little heavy but it is a desktop replacement and a lot easier to carry than a desktop PC.

Review:Keep offering your PC's with Windows XP for as long as possible to give Vista a chance to stabilize more. I bought the Vostro 1700 for me and the Vostro 1500 for my grandson.

ProsI have been very pleased with the capabilities of the laptop. It is slated to be a replacement for my desktop and I am finding it to be very good for that purpose. Screen colors and graphics have been very very good and renderings of my digital photos has been extremely good. I have already recommended this unit to several friends. Hope they buy and are as satisfied as I am

ProsThe display is beautiful, the wireless networking works like a champ, the fan is quiet and unobtrusive, and it doesn't get very hot, even when held on my lap. I love the professional-looking black color scheme - like Darth Vader's helmet, this pure-black laptop says "I mean business!"
Cons1. Keyboard trim feels flimsy and acts like it wants to dislodge sometimes - I could see this becoming a problem eventually.

2. PageUp and PageDown keys are in an awkward position above the numeric keypad, side-by-side. Because of this nonintuitive location, I've started using the touchpad to scroll instead of using PageUp and PageDown. Luckily, this works great.

Review:I love my Vostro 1700. No matter who shows up to a meeting (or how much they may have paid for their machine,) I always have the coolest laptop in the room. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!

ProsThe full size keyboard is great. All other fantastic Dell atributes are present in this awsome sleek laptop.
ConsIt's not your tiny, take anywhere laptop, but a full functioning desktop alternative. (not so much a con for our use, but for some, it may be)

ProsGreat machine. Excellent spec - 3GB RAM, 320GB hard drive, WiFi/Bluetooth, Very good processing and amazing graphics & display. Many applications working very good. I’m surprise it’s working so quiet.
ConsA little too big, a specialy if you take 9Cell batery. This batery is too big, also is have if you plan to move around often you need good case or backpack.. But the extended keyboard is great help if you working with numbers. Off-center mouse pad is not so comfortable but working fine

ProsRecently received my new computer and it was very easy to set up. Has an amazing screen and has a great layout with the full keyboard including the number keypad. Haven't used it extensively yet other than surfing the net and email but it moves quick and works great!! I also added the built in camera and have done some video conferencing and the people I speak with say the video they see of me is excellent and very clear.
ConsIt's definitely a big laptop computer which I expected and primarily use it at the home and office. If you travel a lot it's probably more than you want to carry around.
