PROS:
- Slim, light and very Sexy. A true portable machine that attracts a lot of attention. - This system is very fast for its size and weight. - Very durable design. - Love Dell Media Direct and touch sensitive media controls - Fingerprint reader works like a charm - HDMI out - Comes with great accessories such as, remote control, headphones, slip case, Manual and CD Holder - Discreet Graphics Card Cons- Shorter than average battery life (2.5hrs) - Keyboard needs to be pressed hard for some keys to register - Only 2 USB ports - Standard LCD is hard to see outdoors or in direct lighting - Slot load DVD play is loud - System will not hibernate properly (Windows Visa Issue) - System can only be built with Windows Vista - Screen cannot open 180 degrees due to hinge design - Attracts fingerprints and dust easily - Slight difference in the gaps on the hinges, LCD screen and placement of the battery. (VERY MINOR)
Additional ThoughtsI was looking for a new computer for months. I looked at every brand, ever product, and considered all of my options. I even bought and returned 2 other systems. In the end I picked the XPS M1330. I really wondered if I made the right choice right up until it came to my door. As soon as I opened it, I fell in love.
The XPS M1330 is the best system that I have ever owned and I am glad that I went with yet another Dell Product. There are only two USB Ports but so what! Get yourself a $20 USB Hub or use Bluetooth accessories. This system comes loaded with everything you will ever need: Internal DVD burner, dedicated graphics, high performance CPU, Large and fast hard drive and great accessories in a package that is portable and looks great. You get all of this at a price below the competition.
Dell has made a move in the right direction. My only wish is that mine came with the LED Screen. This would decrease the size and weight while increasing brightness and extending battery life. The size of the screen and the text is a perfect balance. I would never choose another 15” notebook again.
If you seriously want a high performance, light, portable, and sexy machine, look no further than the XPS M1330.
P.S. this machine will fit inside of a standard magazine envelope. It also demands instant respect at either the office or in school. Balance of professionalism and style.

Title: Best laptop i've ever owned
Date: March 2, 2008
ProsSuper-light (under 4lbs. with the 4cell battery) Does not get hot on the lap, even after 3hours of continuous use Full-sized keyboard for such a small laptop. Screen quality is excellent (LCD) Battery life is superb, both 4-cell and 9-cell ConsSpeakers could be louder The back end is fat compared to the front Only 2 usb ports Vista -- i guess i could always change that
Additional ThoughtsThis laptop is perfect for school as I am working on my Master's degree. I cannot even tell I have a laptop in my book bag as I walk around campus. With the long lasting batteries, i have not had to look for an outlet all semester on campus. I have two 3 hour classes back to back and battery lasts through both of them. I first had a Dell Inspiron 1150 and then the Inspiron E1405. This one is the best so far.

Title: M1330 With Solid State HDD
Date: November 5, 2007
Pros- No moving parts - Very fast machine (T7500/64GB Solid State Hard drive/4GB RAM/8400GS video card) - Very QUIET machine, system fan does a great job and whisper quiet - Nice and light machine, have travelled with it on multiple occasions - Carrying case provided looks professional and easy to carry - Convenient remote control for computer. (came in very handy for presentation sake) - Good quality recording TV with the TV Tuner option I picked up - 9-cell battery provides me with around 5.5hrs of battery time, or 2.5hrs if really working it hard. - Good but not great webcam - Very good microphone array - Exceptionally great finger reader ConsBeing you get such a small notebook, there will be some sacrifices but they are easy to overcome: - Only 2 USB ports. (Just buy a cheap $20 USB hub to get a fast extra 4-8 USB ports) - Carry case that comes with computer does not have a single extra component for even the battery charger. (buy a better one.) - Keyboard tends to need you to press fairly hard on keys to register a single stroke (could just be the one I have, will be getting it replaced) - Can only order this computer in Black and Red - Support phone line for tech support is not made clear for the XPS line, which it should have a sticker if your paying this much money to begin with.
Additional ThoughtsOverall a fantastic computer, I only rated the features 4/5 because USB ports are very important and this machine only has 2. Buy this computer with solid state hard drive, worth every penny.

Title: A wolf in sheep's clothing
Date: September 19, 2007
ProsNot only is this laptop very attractive and extremely light, it packs a really heavy punch. If Tim Allen had to build a laptop, he'd build this one. It loads pretty much all of my applications in a snap (I use MS Office on a daily basis, and have at least a dozen windows open), and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. I also do some light coding in the background while I have all my windows open. Being portable means that I'm able to take this on the road with me and hookup to the free wifi spots and do my work on the fly. This is truly what I have been looking for, and I've been looking for the last 3 years... ConsNone at this time.
Additional ThoughtsI was debating upon this one or the MacBooks, because I really needed a portable laptop, with a slot drive. I'm a huge fan of these types of drives, and I chose the XPS over MacBook because of the weight. I know there's only one small pound of difference, but it was a factor for me.

Title: Corvette
Date: July 22, 2008
ProsVery fast, the latest processors (45 nm), small & portable (with 6 cell), bright and colorful dislay(w LED light LCD+GeForce 8400 video, it has 4.1+4.7 Vista index), pleasant and reliable keyboard and touchpad (none of the problems posted by others), with 3GB of RAM still works in dual channel even if the owner manual says otherwise, remote useful in presentations, simple access to all components to upgrade (RAM, Wireless card, broadband card, bluetooth, hard drive) on the back, nice magnesium alloy case, clean look, fingerprint works 100% after update ConsSomehow noisy (fan working most of the time at low rpm) but less noisy than my miniature Latitude D420, hard drive (at 7200 rpm) could be better (only 5.2 Vista index), sound (I have the basic sound card) could be better, palmrests get warm. Expensive, very expensive with the latest processors, slim LCD, GeForce video, 7200 rpm hdd. Also batteries are expensive. Dell Support Drivers and Downloads is very slow lately, with speeds of only 40 Kbps ?? - it takes too long to download a video driver.
Additional ThoughtsI bought the system refurbished. It came like new - Thank you Dell - only that I had to re-install to recover the hard drive space Dell occupied with the custom installation (3 partitions?!?! and about 15 GB). The T9300 processor is very fast. The system is very stable with Vista. Running XP might not be the best solution, under XP system is slower and warmer. Enabled virtualization and I am using Virtual PC for multiple machine, networking, and software demo. It works without a glitch, fast. Very happy with the system, excellent specs and like new condition for a 'refurbished' price.

Title: Well Pleased
Date: July 14, 2008
ProsThis is a nice machine. It is fast, user friendly, and looks great. I work with different computers all day, every day and this is by far the fastest. I love the fingerprint signon, it saves clicks and the chance that my password can be compromised. ConsThe only con that I can think of is that the voice recognition software isn't what I thought that it would be.
Additional ThoughtsI am so glad that I purchased the in home warrenty. When my son spilled soda on my brand new laptop, dell came to my house to correct the problem within days of the phone call. Now that is service!

Title: Slow, slow, slow!
Date: July 13, 2008
ProsIt is a nice looking computer and has a lot of features. ConsIt is the slowest computer I have ever used. I paid 1300.00 for this note book including all additional features and upgraded ram and the computer takes around 10 minutes to load before it is usable. I hate it and I will never buy a dell again.
Additional ThoughtsIf you want a notebook that you can open up and use then don't buy the XPS 1330.

Title: A great combination of style and proformance
Date: July 13, 2008
Pros-LED screen -Light weight -Appearance and Style -Media card reader\ -Keyboard is nicer to type on than I thought it would be -Remote control Cons-Touch pad could be bigger -Power, HD, Battery indicator light on front not visible when you are using the laptop. -Two USB ports may not be enough for some -Should ship with 65W power adapter and not the larger 90W one.
Additional ThoughtsThis is my third Dell laptop and the fourth or fifth in my family. I have always used Dells for personal use and been provided other laptops for business. All other Dells have been good, but they have all been too big or slightly ugly. The most recent other Dells I've had are an older Inspiron 600n and newer 1420. The 600m was used for 4 years and is still working perfect as my backup laptop. The 1420 was bought 8 months ago by my girlfriend. I liked the 1420, but it is a little too heavy and has a bit of cheap material for my taste. The XPS1330 is (for me) the perfect mix of size, usability and portability. It is very light weight and fits easily in my various bags. It is much easier to carry around than the old 600m and a little lighter than the 1420. When its in my backpack, I am amazed there is even a laptop in there! I have the LED LCD screen, which is amazing. I will never go back to normal LCD screens. I also have the Intel graphics. Both allow me to get at least 2 hours of out the 4 cell battery. I'm pretty sure I could get 3 hours or more out of the 6 cell, but I don't want the extra weight and am rarely without a plug for more than 1-2 hours. I use the screen at maximum brightness too. On the negative side, the touch pad really should be bigger. I use a wireless mouse most times, but when I use the touch pad, I wish it was bigger. Also, the indicator lights on the front of the system are pretty useless, because you can't see them when you are typing. I think they should be moved a little higher up. I don't know why Dell ships this with their 90W power adapter. Its larger than the 65W ones, which work just fine. For a lightweight system, you should get a smaller power brick. I have the fingerprint reader, but never use it. Some people may not like Vista, but that shouldn't be a negative to the hardware. I was going to put Ubuntu on this laptop, but didn't want to bother, since I have a few applications specific to Windows and I've learned how to configure Vista to get rid of most of the things that annoyed me.

Title: Wouldn't recommend
Date: July 12, 2008
Pros-Nice LED screen -Compact -Good battery life Cons-Not reliable! -Poorly assembled (plastic cover coming off after 6 months) -Vista crashes -Motherboard crashed
Additional ThoughtsI've had the computer for six months. Came from factory with a scratch on lid (which I didn't notice at first and forgot to mention when I called customer service since I had other major issued to address). Vista has crashed twice, apparently I have a bad image on my HD. The motherboard was replace a couple of days ago, since the computer started going crazy, and the black plastic covering the LED lights and microphone and headphone jacks just came off. I thought I was getting a good deal with this computer (I had wanted it for a while!) but ended up regretting my decision ... I don't consider it reliable at all :-(

Title: Dell M1330 Laptop
Date: July 12, 2008
ProsThe laptop is quick when it works properly with programmes like photoshop and illustrator loading up large files fast. ConsThe laptop has massive incompatibility issues whether it be dell or vista. I took delivery of the laptop and the main bar where XPS logo is was lifted up and wouldn't stay down properly. I emailed Dell and they refused to anything about this. This was a day after i got it. The battery life is quite poor compared to my old laptop. I used to get 5 hours from my medion laptop but only get about 2 on this with low battery settings and doing basic work. Laptop has big issues with the keyboard. When you go online and type in the text boxes it misses letters out because it seems like its still loading. I looked online and its a problem with these laptops and no fix has been issues. Internet explorer crashes constantly and restarts and it is very slow with phpmyadmin and online databases. I now use this laptop for design work but use my old laptop for basic work. I wouldn't recommend this laptop to anyone and definitely wouldn't buy another dell based on its handling of my complaints and problems with the laptop. I never once had a problem with my old laptop.
Additional ThoughtsIf you are thinking of buying this laptop then don't until all the bugs are ironed out. I'm running a duo core 2.10 with 4gig ram and a seperate graphics card and it still struggles online. Photoshop runs great on it but vista drains the memory like crazy and even with 4gig it still takes up a lot the memory through vista. Unfortunately i wouldn't buy dell again. If i was the only one with these problems then you could understand the time its taking for a fix but if you search online for the problems i've mentioned you'll find that theres many people with the same problems but yet still no fix. The online typing and missing letters is the most annoying thing ever.

ProsBeautiful product. The case design is very impressive, especially the LED screen (which is a must)! The computer is very responsive as well as the fingerprint reader and the media keys. ConsThe 9-cell battery is too large and heavy. I thought that it would not be that large and heavy and would give me a very long battery life (It maxed at 4h 00min when word-processing). I definitely recommend a smaller battery since it would make the laptop the advertised weight! Also, the laptop was filled with some useless programs (especially the Google Desktop which degrades performance).
