Title: Great Computer
Date: June 24, 2009
Product Uses: Connecting with Friends, School
Review:I purchased the Inspiron to replace my old Dell computer. I was very pleased with the ease of setup. I am not great with computers and managed to do everything myself. Also, this is extremely quiet and fast. I would highly recommend it.

Review:At first i was undecided because of the price. I figured i cant b getting much 4 the price... But then i realized that i could customize it. Everything was crimson and clover after that. You could literally build it up from a pinto to a ferrari! Even if you dont have the money right now, you could always buy stuff for it later on their website. Its so easy!

Title: Great value

Review:The Inspiron 530 is a great value for the money. While it is low end of the Dell products, it delivers what the average home user needs for the Internet, word processing, photos, and other areas. While I am not a great fan of Vista, I'm sure I'll get used to it, much like I did with XP several years ago. I do wish the software included a DVD player. I thought that would be standard for computers. So consider that when you purchase an Inspiron. Otherwise, the PC appears to be durable and runs relatively quietly. I am very pleased with the Inspiron 530. While 4 Stars only represents "Good," I would give the Inspiron a 4.5, or "Very Good."

Review:My only disappointment is in the program (Vista) that I am now using. I should have ordered Excel, which I had used before. I didn't think how limited Vista is. It was my own fault. The computer itself (Dell Inspiration 530) is a great improvement from what I had been using. Regards, Audrey Bourbonnais

Review:Nice, fast, small computer. I have not had mine in service very long, but it seems to be a very good machine. I purchased plenty of memory and enough goodies that my grandson can play games with ease. When he says that it is OK, that is high praise.

Review:Nice machine but need better motherboard. Not enough pci slots and needs better video slot. PCI Express is okay but needs more. Had I known, I would have upgraded. It does do the job and is well worth the money.

Title: Not that expandable
Date: June 17, 2009
Product Uses: Connecting with Friends, Video Editing, Gaming, Music & Movies, Finances, Presentation
Review:Power supply is weak in wattage, so do research before upgrading. Power supply has no 4-pin plugs for video cards, so if your card has one of those inputs, then you're out of luck. Power supply has almost no extra cables like any other power supply on the market, so I'm not sure how Dell envisioned you expanding this thing outside of replacing components. To replace the power supply, you have to take out the motherboard first because of the way it's crammed into the box (and you can't remove it from the back). The selling point for me was that I could buy a cheap core system without falling victim to analysis-paralysis due to researching and bargain-hunting for processors, motherboards, RAM etc.; then I could just upgrade as I went. Dell built these so that it's very difficult to upgrade anything except the memory, the hard drive, or add a non-video card. If I had to do it over again, I would've built my PC myself since the time I saved in research has been spent screwing around with this thing to get it to do what Dell promises it can do.

Review:I bought the 530 to set it up as a linux box to learn how to configure and use virtual machines. Had to set the bios before linux would recognize the sata hard drive but other than that the linux installation was very smooth. Installing the virtual machines was pretty straight forward and they have been running very well.
Since installing linux on this machine, I've had the opportunity to compare this box to several others running the same configuration and the 530 not only outperformed comparable machines, it was almost silent while doing so.
Very happy with the box.

Review:Upon initial setup encountered problems resulting in un-install and clean install of Vista and re-install of all Dell software. This took almost a week of frustrating and lengthy sessions at the computer. With the EXCELLENT help from Dell support and Microsoft The computer finally was in the out-of-the-box state I expected. I am very happy with the 530. My previous is a Dimension 2400 and satisfaction with it led me to Dell for a new system. The only regret I have is not having XP installed instead of Vista. I am very unhappy with the Vista program and should the occasion arise where I were to purchase a new computer I would not have it installed. This is no reflection on Dell, of course. I will continue to consider Dell as my first choice for any future needs. I would again like to express my thanks to your great support team for their patience and help.

Review:Im 86 years old and kept getting hand me down computers from my son-in-law until finally he told me to splurge on a new one. Im so glad he did. My ladyfriend and I can now use the internet to keep in touch with family and friends sharing photos and stories. Thanks for the great service in getting the computer to me quickly. Also, the price was not restrictive even for a senior citizen on a fixed butget!

Review:My Ubuntu desktop is blazing fast. The dual core Conroe along with the low footprint Ubuntu make for an exceptional performing workstation for ~$500! I added an NVIDIA graphics card for dual monitors and I can work on multiple things at once, never waiting. I also added a DNS cache for lightning fast Internet. I couldn't be happier.

Review:So far this computer has been just fine. Very easy to set up. It's rather basic, but that's all we need. I especially like the fact that I was able to buy it with Windows XP installed and also that it came with the operating system backup CD and all the program CDs that the computer was installed with. I needed XP because of an older digitizing program I have that is no longer supported by the manufacturer and will not work on Vista.

Title: Good value for money
Date: June 10, 2009

Review:This computer was a little slower than I hoped it would be but that could be the fault of Windows Vista and all the stuff it seems to have to load on start up. Otherwise it seems to be great value for your money. It is a very quiet computer compared to our older (5yrs old) one which is a relief.

Title: Product key

Review:I bought a desktop computor and I wanted to write a business letter and it ask for a product key and the envelope it was purchase in didn't have it so now I found out that Dell can't or won't help you with this problem leaving you out of this part of your computor not being able to use this part of the package you pay for and it has the full Microsoft office keeping me locked out. I am very disappointed with this part of my computor. My husband also bought me an 17 inch laptop from Dell.
