Title: Buy this Those are the rules..
Date: March 7, 2009
ProsAwesome picture, lots of connections, stand will adjust to any positon you require. Quality construction. I purchased this monitor just to play World of warcraft and it changed my whole experience. The detail will blow you away..the rules are simple BUY THIS>>> if your thinking of the Cheaper 2409 Don't, be patient I promise it is worth the extra coin. ConsOut of the box the saturation will give you nucular burns..I still have not figured out how to reduce the reds. not that its off color but because it almost glows.
Review:I went with the HDMI to DVI cable (MONSTER). The difference is not that great but noticable.

ProsRock solid stand...height, swivel, tilt, cable management, and heavy duty. Doesn't even compare to cheaper brands with plastic stands. On-Screen Menus are straightforward, and easily accessed. The A01 revision I received has no major issues. ConsWould prefer inputs pointing straight out the back, instead of down....no big deal though. Height adjustment on stand is two-position only....again, not a big deal.
Review:There were a few reviews I noticed, that were rating this monitor bad for games. Possibly, they aren't running it on a proper system?..or a weak graphics card?..or using the wrong connections? At any rate..I don't know what kind of games they are playing, but I hesitated before buying this monitor due to comments of them having too much lag, but after getting an incredible deal on one, finally went for it anyway. I also figured that a very good MaxPC review and the fact that a certain well-known gaming computer maker (with an alien logo) has been selling them as an upgrade with their gaming systems for years (long before Dell became involved), has to carry some weight. The bottom line is...I'm having absolutely no issues when playing games which include Far Cry 2, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Call Of Duty 4, etc....mostly single-player FPS games. Now...I can't speak for on-line multi-player games, but until you experience Far Cry 2 or Crysis at 1900x1200 with max settings on one of these monitors, you don't know what you're missing. It's, for lack of a better word, awesome. (I'm running the 2408WFP on a system which includes the GTX 280 SLI Superclocked graphics card). Out of the box, the adjustments I made were: Brightness turned down to 10(very bright at factory setting), Sharpness down to 20-30, and Contrast at 50. Colors are vivid and bright. May calibrate in more detail later with proper software, but looks pretty good with these settings anyway. In short...if you can get one on a good sale (I paid $493.00 w/coupon + tax), treat yourself to one of these. After all, it's what you're looking at all the time when you're at your computer....and games such as those mentioned above...well..you'll have to experience it for yourself. I hope this review helps someone such as myself, who took months to finally make a decision on a monitor!

Superb Resolution
ProsCompared to anything I've ever used, including the very highly rated Brand X (Dell would prefer I not name names), this dual monitor setup is fantastic. Vibrant colors for CAD work and the display port connections minimize the desktop clutter. The wide screen size easily fits within a 48" space. ConsSeems even when setting the color settings exactly the same for both monitors, there is a definite difference between the two screens. I am considering a Spider3Pro Colorimeter from Dell to calibrate the two monitors. The difference isn't huge, but enough when running AutoCAD on two screens that is mildly irritating.
Review:Wished that the card readers and USB slots were not located on the sides. A top location for the card reader and a bottom location for the USB would enable a dual monitor user to have access to all slots that are located to the left of the monitors placing one set between the two monitors virtually making this set unusable unless the monitors are separated.

ProsLove being able to rotate display (once I developed the coordination not to bump corners,) from Landscape to Portrait and that I can use it as common display to a bank of 3 computers.
Wonderful display, once setup and calibration issues resolved. ConsVery gracious PC-centric tech support out of Mumbai had no suggestions for this multi-Mac home.
Ultimately, it takes some horsepower to drive the display smoothly in its portrait orientation.
Review:For a mac to use the display rotation feature, it seems simplest to install an applet to toggle orientations from the menu bar, like Display Rotation Menu from Mage Software. Stick to native resolution

ProsVery clear monitor. No fog or haze. Color is amazing. 178/178 viewing angle. Very bright. Minimal to no glare. Height adjustable/pivot/swivel. Consnone. just needs a lot of fine tuning.
Review:I owned a 22" Acer LCD for about 2yrs. I was not pleased with it. I always wanted a DELL monitor and dreamed about owning one and WOW...Blew all my expectations out the door. The price for this monitor is pretty fair (on sale). You get a VA panel with massive inputs. A TN based 24" already runs you close to 435$ after taxes/shipping.
I bought this monitor and found one dead pixel. Was very sad to find out about it. I tried calling DELL to get a replacement but that took too long. I decided to email DELL instead and I was sent 2 replacements. Finally got a 100% flawless monitor. Extremely good customer service via email. Very very pleased with this monitor and DELL.

Title: Expensive, but worth it...
Date: February 20, 2009
ProsAll the connection options you could wish for, including direct DisplayPort, 2 DVIs, HDMI, etc. Image quality is noticeably better than the 24" monitors you could buy at a local Best Buy. ConsPower button feels cheap. Gets warm after several hours of steady usage, especially gaming. Of course I don't know of an LCD monitor that doesn't. It will be nice when the technology is ready to produce a monitor that doesn't generate ANY heat.
Review:Wait until Dell has it on sale. It's expensive.

ProsVery nice image. Enjoyable to watch videos and play games on (Company of Heroes looks great). More features than I can even use. 2408 is a pleasantly noticeable improvement over the 2407. ConsHad 2407 with a line eat in from the corner over a couple weeks - 2 1/2 years in.
Review:2407 replaced to this for free no questions asked. Very happy with the quality and service. Fun to use for making films. Will 100% be looking at the 30 inch for the next one. Happy with dell sticking behind their product!

Title: pricey, but in a league of it's own
Date: February 2, 2009
Proscolors are vibrant, great resolution more inputs than you will ever need, the media card inputs are a nice addition. Tilt, swivel, adjustable height, it can do it all. Great Warranty!!!! Consadjusting the color or better yet finding that "perfect" setting will take some time bright is an understatement, probably too bright for most people, the first setting will be to lower it all the way.
Review:I have a dual monitor setup, the other is a Samsung 244BWX. Now that is 1/2 the price less (if not more) that the 2408WFP. There is clear difference in colors and brightness with the 2408WFP being superior. It also does not have close to the bells and whistles the Dell has. Are all the bells and whistles worth almost double the price? That is something the buyers of the 2408WFP have to decide.
personally, if I could afford 2 of the Dell's I would have them. The product is outstanding, too bad the price isn't.

Title: Terrible for Gaming
Date: February 2, 2009
ProsGreat image quality, viewing angles, numerous input options, wonderful ergonomics ConsThe 6ms delay is a little misleading. In addition to the 6ms response time, there's an average 70ms of input delay. That means, on average, what you see on your screen is 76ms behind what your computer sent to it.
Review:This panel is worthless for any gaming. No other similarly priced and sized panel has such a high input delay.
Posts on Dell's support forums have stated that an A01 revision of this monitor would fix the input delay. After an hour and 47 minutes on the phone will Dell, the support agent told me that there is no update and effectively refused to accept an advanced exchange, even though I spent extra money on the 5 year warranty with advanced exchange.

Title: Don't buy this if you're a Mac user
Date: January 28, 2009
ProsNice screen, good resolution, lots of features, good price. ConsCannot calibrate proper colors on a mac.
Review:I bought this monitor on a great deal from Dell Days sale, but after I plugged it into my Mac mini (intel) I realized I just couldn't calibrate the colors properly such that the reds/greens weren't overly saturated. I read through a ton of mac forums and it seems like everyone else is having the exact same problem, and cannot calibrate it properly even using external hardware device. If you do any kind of serious photo editing that requires accurate colors, then avoid this monitor.

Title: So far, so good
Date: January 26, 2009
ProsThere were no problems with the display, and I really enjoy having the real estate. I haven't really given it a good "graphics" workout, so I can't say for certain that the color gamut is excellent. It certainly shows more sublety than the "free with a system" Dell monitor I use at work. ConsAlthough there are a number of preset display "modes", including a custom RGB option that you can fiddle with until you go mad, there is no explicit temperature setting. That makes it hard to get a reliable starting point for color calibration.

Title: great gamer monitor
Date: January 26, 2009
ProsFast and beautiful when gaming. I mostly game, Half Life 2, COD4, DDO, BF2142, and this monitor plays them all maxed out with no lag, no ghosting, no artifacts. I push it with a 4870x2 and connect using a DVI to HDMI wire (important for gamers). I was worried if I would see gaming issues with input lag and have seen none at all. ConsOn screen commands could be better.
Review:Get a DVI-HDMI cable. Can buy them cheap on web and makes a big difference gaming.

Title: Excellent Display
Date: January 25, 2009
ProsThe good: - tons of features - great color (almost too saturated!) - Full ergonomic mount - tons of inputs - Picture in Picture is great! - Great warranty ConsAppears some people have had some issues with the display. I haven't had an issue. If one arises, warranty will cover it. Also: when using picture in picture/picture beside picture, only 1 can use the digital, and the other the analog. So I can play XBox while I browse the web; however, having 2 computer screens both via DVI is not possible; even though there are 2 different dvi ports.

Review:I had 2407WFP at my work, and that model was a perfect display. I thought newer model should be better than previous one, but this was not the case for this display. If you are not going to use it for reading text, this may work for you. I tried 2 different monitors, they both show the same problem and I had to return them. Title: Great Monitor
Date: January 18, 2009
ProsWarranty guarantees no dead pixels. Very Bright. Built-in USB hub. Adjustable height, not just a swivel. ConsNo web cam.
Review:A little on the expensive side as far as 24" monitors go. Clarity is great, and having usb ports on the side and back of the monitor is very convenient. Newer computers already have media readers, so I would have preferred a web cam over the media reader. 3-year no dead pixel premium panel warranty made me comfortable enough to purchase, and I am glad I did.
