Title: Amazing monitor Date: May 5, 2008
ProsGreat video and image quality. Connected my PS3 to this monitor and I have no complaints. Blu-ray movies look amazing. Getting 1080p through the DVI connection with an HDMI to DVI adapter.
ConsThere is a reddish ting on the bottom left of the screen but this is not a deal breaker. It is only noticeable on an all white background. Changing inputs is a bit tedious but again not a deal breaker.

Review:I am happy overall. This is the largest LCD monitor I have owned. Fast delivery and no dead pixels.

Prosbig screen size, bright colors, many inputs.
Consaside from fiddling with its presets, none

Review:got the monitor an was instantly disappointed with it.
color was all wrong. blue was too high. playing video file, playing game, or just drawing pictures, the color was off somewhat.
playing around with its preset mode didn't help much.
but after reseting to factory setting and lowing contrast and raising brightness i was able to get colors i wanted.
seems like monitor needs to be calibrated.
but other wise its great monitor. i dun feel any ghosting or lagging.
ps3 on component or hdmi works really well.

Title: Life before widescreen now seems so dull Date: April 30, 2008
ProsI love this monitor, the picture is excellent and the extra space provides a ton of room for multiple windows.
ConsDownside is very serious...no other monitor will do once you have have used this. When I come to work the monitor I use is just not the same. I did not have a widescreen before and needed a DVI cable and graphics card to get the best picture. Well worth it though...

Title: OMG! Date: April 28, 2008
ProsLooks bigger than it sounds!
ConsStill a little bit expensive for what you get.

Review:I am so excited to have my first flat panel... and it's almost big enough to be a TV (and could be for that matter). There are more inputs on this thing than you could hope for. You can use it as a PC Monitor, HDTV, Picture Viewer, and almost any other application that requires a monitor that you can think of. The picture quality is almost perfect. My only complaint is the blacks are really not as dark as they should be... even after doing several calibrations. That being said, they (blacks) are not extremely noticeable. If you are a gamer (which I am) you will need to adjust the color settings to look more realistic, as the default color scheme is so vibrant your games will look a little cartoonish if you don't fix 'em up. I (so far) am very happy with this monitor. If you can grab this baby on sale with Dell, you will be getting an amazing deal. Oh, and it comes with a 3 year exchange warranty included at no extra cost. I usually replace a monitor once every 3 to 4 years, so if I get at least 3 years of use out of this I will be extremely happy.

Title: Dell 2408WFP 24-inch WS Flat Panel Monitor Date: April 28, 2008
ProsUsed for about 2 weeks and love it so far.
Great color and viewing angles.
Excellent adjustable sturdy stand.
No dead pixels.
Super fast delivery (received 3 days from order).
Very good packaging.
ConsConnectors are kind of hard to get at, but really not the fault of the monitor because of flat panel design. Where else can the plugs be placed?
Others have complained about the adjustment/menu buttons, and I can see how these may not hold up to heavy use. Time will tell.

Review:This is my first flat panel monitor, so I cannot compare to any other experience-wise. 24 inch widescreen is just the right size for me. Would not want any larger or it would be overwhelming on an average sized desk. I sit about 2.5 feet away from the screen and this seems about right. The brightness is set at 25, and contrast to 50. Did not have to adjust colors at all. Photos look great and print as shown on the screen, though I'm no color connoisseur. I have not tried video as yet, but plan to down the road.

Title: Large, but image quality less than expected Date: April 23, 2008
ProsLarge display
USB ports and memory card reader on side
Multiple connection options
ConsDisplay quality

Review:As other reviewers have also mentioned, the factory color/brightness settings are terrible for work tasks...the light is blinding. After going back and forth between the brightness/contrast & color setting setting menus for an hour and a half I have a decent configuration. However, the sharpness can not be smoothly adjusted, leaving you with two realistic options: 50% (default), which creates a reddish tinge around black text, or 25%, which gets rid of the tinge while blurring all your text. The sharpness probably wants to be somewhere around 40%, but this option is not available. I've been very happy with previous UltraSharp displays, but this one doesn't live up to the reputation in terms of display quality.

Title: The jury is out!! Date: April 18, 2008
ProsVery easy setup. Solid stand and mount. Nice appearance. Crisp bright picture. Lots of input choices.
ConsThe user interface for settings is OK but a little cumbersome. Awaiting replacement due to a technical issue

Review:Out of the box to desktop in ten minutes. This unit is sleek and solid, with a fairly small footprint for a monitor of this size. Adjustment to brightness and contrast was necessary as mentioned in other reviews.
The picture quality is outstanding and the colors vibrant. High def video from the tuner card in my PC is as good as any of my HD LCDTV"s.
I am a little concerned about a pink tint on the left side of the display. It is particularly distracting on a pure white background.
This unit is being replaced because of an issue with the backlight. Customer service couldn't have been more
If the pink tint is not present on the replacement and everything else is OK, I will be one happy camper with this monitor.

Title: Wait until Dell fixes the problems Date: April 18, 2008
ProsScreen is large, bright, sharp and clear.
ConsWhen using DVI cable, only six resolutions are available and only one is widescreen (all the others are 1.33:1 (4x3) aspect ratio, which makes the image look stretched). This problem did not exist on my 2407WFP HC. You need to use the VGA cable to get the other resolutions (16 in all), but with the VGA cable XP reports problems with the monitor's USB ports needing drivers and nothing fixes this (although they work fine).

Review:I built two identical computers, one with the 2407WFP HC and one with the 2408WFP. The 2407 worked flawlessly from the first day. The 2408 has been a constant problem and I am very unhappy with it. I would exchange this 2408 for a 2407 in a minute.

Title: Great Monitor -- after Calibration Date: April 11, 2008
ProsCrisp picture, tons of inputs, media readers, great colors after calibration
Consneeds calibrated to get good colors, sRGB preset is too washed out, worse than average color shift.

Review:AFTER using a monitor calibration tool, I am extremely happy with the picture of this monitor. Out of the box, reds and greens are blown way out, and it's simply impossible to truly fix by the naked eye.

Input lag is reportedly high, but I have not noticed any issues using it in MMORPGs, FPS, RTS, general desktop use, and photo editing.

Title: Awesome Monitor Date: April 9, 2008
ProsI wanted to upgrade my monitor for quite some time now, I used to have a 15 inch monitor and it was quite old, I knew that I wanted a dell monitor because I've seen how good they were and since it was what we used in art school. I wasn't sure weather to buy the regular 24 inch or the ultrasharp one but I'm glad that I went for the ultrasharp. I've seen both since we have the regular one at work and I just received my new ultrasharp yesterday, all I can say is WOW! I love this monitor so much, the colors are great, nice and crisp details, if your a designer this is a great product, I am truly impressed
ConsNone yet

Review:Expensive but well worth it, I didn't see any dead pixels or red tints whatsoever, THanks Dell

Title: Dell churns out a vivid gaming dynamo Date: April 9, 2008
ProsI'll be the first one to admit that I am an extreme pain in the behind when it comes to image quality. I see things not many other ppl can see when it comes to picture irregularities, distortions, screen grain, poor black levels -this is a blessing and a curse as very infrequently am I satisfied with a PC display, especially for gaming purposes. For quite a number of years now I've stuck with a high-end CRT due to the fact that LCD's have never impressed me at all, that is until now... For the first time ever I am blown away by the clarity and vibrance that this display offers. Gone is the slightly washed out, image smearing, low contrast-ratio beasts of yesteryear- this display offers gamers a clear, colorful, fast responding display that makes games look jaw-dropping- if you thought World of Warcraft was a colorful game before, try running it on this beast with a decent GPU with your brightness setting around 35, Contrast at 50, Desktop preset mode. You will be amazed at the sheer image fidelity. Is the panel perfect? If you are a gamer, which I am, then I will say 99% yes. Do I see the reddish tint that's present toward the bottom of the screen?- it's there, albeit very subtle, and when I am playing a game I can't notice it. Not to mention the fact that this LCD has the finest black-level performance I've ever witnessed by far for this display technology, made even better by the dynamic contrast setting- it doesn't best a high-end CRT in this department (I doubt anything ever will) but it definitely approaches it- no longer will entering a dark cave in a video game become a greyed-out mess of an experience- you will see more detail in dark areas then you have ever seen before on an LCD. All this being said, Serious photographers and the like who rely on pure image/color accuracy should probably steer clear of this display due to the panel pushing that very slight reddish tinge at the bottom, but for those of you like myself that want a large flat panel that displays clear, colorful, vibrant images with very little image smear and deep, convincing black levels should definitely give this a try. For the price this LCD is an absolute steal in my opinion. -Lots of video connection options, enough to satisfy anyone IMHO.
-Excellent height adjustment.
Cons-Reddish tinge toward the bottom of the panel could turn some people off who are looking for absolute color accuracy. -Menu navigation could have been designed better, it's not terrible but not great.

Review:A panel that will have gamer's jaws dropping over and over, as well as those looking for a Vibrant, Colorful, clear image with excellent contrast and black level performance.

Title: This is a very nice monitor Date: April 8, 2008
ProsTons of added inputs over previous model
rotating screen, 1920x1200 resolution
I thought the OSD menus were easy to use
No dead pixels :)
ConsScreen does not auto rotate (desktop)
Does have a very slight input lag (only worse than a CRT or TN panel), but you would never notice unless you had one of the previous right beside it.

Review:I'm running this monitor on a BFG 680i, E6600,EVGA 8800GTX, on Klipsch Promedia 2.1. I use this monitor mostly for gaming and web surfing. Now I know what you're thinking, but I from a Dell Trinitron 19" CRT and have no complaints. I play Diablo LOD, F.E.A.R., WIC, Morrowind, Oblivion, Sim City 4 Rush Hour, War Craft III, COD 2 &4, Medal of Honor Airborne, Crysis and ALL are crisp and very fluid. I'm not seeing any of the red issues some others are having. I took one star off of the features becuase of the lack of the auto screen rotation. The one off the image quality becuase of very slight backlight bleed through in all four corners ( you have to be in a pitch black room watching a black screen). I don't use this for professional printing or CAD work so I can't honestly comment on the color accuracy. Out of the box it is very bright but after adjusting the settings I found it very nice and easy on the eyes.

Title: The top dog in it's market Date: April 8, 2008
Pros- Installation out of the box in less than a minute
- Great color reproduction for photo work
- Makes my old 19" LCD look dark and washed out.
- No noticeable lag at all for 3D apps (Maya) or fast paced precision games(Quake 3, HL2)
- Absolutely beautiful and immersing for 1080p movies. The fast motion and wildly colorful speed racer trailer looks amazing
- Rotating the monitor gives you a whole new screen setup for ease of reading and word processing. A dual monitor setup is perfect for this
- The pivot stand is very sturdy and easy to use
- Excellent warranty (advanced replacement and forum support)
Cons- OSD/power buttons are very flimsy and unresponsive
- The inside edges of the panel reflect the LCD image almost like a mirror which is disruptive should you need to look at the edge of the screen
- PS3 to HDMI input crops/scales 1080p video. HDMI w/ DVI adapter works fine
- Brightness is not uniform (left brighter than right), but not that noticeable

Review:This is the best monitor for it's price category for color reproduction work, games, and HD content. Only thing that bugs me is that one of Dell's flagship products, obvious flaws were completely ignored. It's as if you bought a new sports car where the car itself is amazing... except the wheels are square.
