Title: I Like It!!!
Date: January 8, 2008
ProsThe screen is wonderful, great color, easy on the eyes. I am tall, so I do not mind that you can not adjust the stand. ConsBuilt-in webcam does not have good quality image, too jerky, image stops, voice sound go on & on. Maybe I don't know how to adjust it. I have never used a webcam, but I think Dell should have tested and programed it for the user before before shipping.

Title: DELL SP2208WFP 22IN WFP LCD MONITOR
Date: January 7, 2008
ProsIt looks large, but being so flat, it is desk friendly. In fact, Anyone entering my office can't miss it, so I don't brag. I just glow a little. The color is wonderful for all screen viewing. It makes my dull photos/movies look like sunshine. It was worth the purchase. The extra USB ports make it attractive for multitasking. Big is good in this case. No problem with faulty little defects in the screen. It's a good deal. ConsNone have been found so far. If it coughs, splutters and dies in the next 24 hours, then there will be a deficiency. I've had it since Christmas, so it's early times.
Review:I don't play games, yet. But for wide screen movies, it's a pleasure. Fast is good.

Title: Great for just about everything
Date: January 6, 2008
ProsWhat more could I say? I can hook it up to my computer, high-def players, and any game console. Play movies look great and I can see no ghosting in games. Colors are bright and vibrant. The webcam looks great when chatting online with friends. Some may not like the reflective glossy finish, but I think it makes everything look better. ConsThere was a defect with my first monitor, it had a white line at the bottom when I would set the sharpness below 75. Had to change settings because it was too bright out of the box.
Review:The price was good, and the monitor looks great. Has a ton of features.

Title: The best monitor in its class!
Date: January 2, 2008
Pros* Incredible definition * Super bright picture * Ultra fast 2 millisecond refresh rate (no trails, blurs or ghosts) * Integrated webcam with bundled software * Well-designed mount for add-on speakers * Handsome console design Cons* The widescreen (1680 X 1050) resolution is not the best for analog video signals. Very few older video cards will set to this level. Be sure you have digital video output (the white plug, not blue) to experience the full potential. * Height is not adjustable
Review:If you have digital video set to 1680 x 1050 resolution, you will be blown away!

Title: Good but not for everyone
Date: January 2, 2008
Pros-Built-in camera/mic + optional soundbar reduce desk clutter -Photos and Video look great -USB ports located on both side and rear of monitor Cons-Screen resolution limited to 1680x1050 -Height not adjustable (though probably not an issue for most people) -Glare from glossy screen -Issues with viewing angles -Text could look better
The screen resolution is limited to 1680x1050, which means that you will not be able to view HD media at 1080p (1920x1080 Full-HD). However, I watched a movie at 720 and it looked great. If you are particular, and have to have full HD look elsewhere. The resolution may also be a problem for people who are really into video games and want to run everything at super-high resolutions. That being said, unless you have a high-end GPU you most likely will not be able to run any games at a resolution of higher than 1680x1050 anyway.
Glare is an issue if you have windows behind you, and I find that when reading text or working on Word-docs my eyes are quite strained when using this LCD.
When viewed at certain angles the color is not uniform. Generally I don't find this to be a problem, but if you are viewing a movie or photos with a few people gathered around, viewing the monitor at side-angles, the picture will be off. If you are not viewing dead-center you will notice that the color is off, especially with whites and lighter colors.
Review:If you consider yourself to be a "high-end" user you may want to reconsider purchasing this monitor and look into something a little more expensive. However, for most people this monitor should be just fine.
It seems like some people are complaining about how text is displayed on this monitor, mostly complaints about text looking jagged or blurry. It is a MUST to change the default settings on this monitor. When I first got mine out of the box I was disappointed with the way web pages were displayed, text looked terrible and colors were overblown, but after adjusting the brightness, color and image settings, things looked much better. Out of the box the screen is entirely too bright, and in order to view text clearly, you need to adjust the sharpness in the image settings sub-menu or you will, as other users have noted, experience rough or unclear text.
Also, you if you spend a lot of time working on spread sheets or word-processing you may prefer a matte rather than glossy LCD. I definitely prefer matte for "work-related computing," but for photo viewing, games and watching movies, glossy wins hands down. I recommend going to a store and comparing matte and glossy monitors to see which you prefer if you are not sure which to go with

Title: I like it.
Date: January 2, 2008
ProsLooks awesome: matches my XPS tower and Creative speakers. Pictures and video look very nice. Games look amazing on this: Call of Duty 4 & Bioshock played at 1680x1050 = fantastic! Lots of inputs. ConsBacklighting bleed-thru is noticeable and slightly annoying.
Review:Some people are complaining about pixelated and blurry text, I don't have that at all. Everything is sharp and crystal clear. Sits at a perfect viewing level for me so I don't care that the stand isn't adjustable. I also prefer it's glossy screen over the matte-finished ones.

Title: Awesome Monitor
Date: December 30, 2007
ProsThe monitor is HUGE and easy to setup. No problems with ghosting or dead pixels. I came from an old 17" LCD to this new widescreen. I can't believe the difference 5" make with the widescreen format. If you're looking for an upgrade or as the new monitor for your next computer, you need to buy this monitor. ConsThe factory settings make this monitor too bright, but it's easily enough fixed in less than 5 minutes.

Title: poor image quality on some Dell machines
Date: December 26, 2007
Prosnice features Consdoesn't work
Review:This screen was a Christmas present from my wife to replace my big CRT's here at the house. I already have a couple of 19" Dell's at work that I run my laptop off of. My wife's Dell desktop has an 2008WFP. As soon as I unpacked the SP2208WFP and connected it my first complaint was brightness and contrast. It was waaaay to hot coming straight out of the box. I have a Dell Precison 620 with a docking station. The native resolution of the machine is the same as the monitor. So, its not a matter of the video card being overdriven. I have tried every tweak in the card, and on the monitor, and the video is washed out. The blacks are gray. The small text in menus is exteremely pixelated. At first I thought the monitor simply had to be defective. Then I read all the reviews and found it to be the same issue everyone else is having. So, I decied to do a small experiment. I took the monitor and hooked it up to my wife's PC. The monitor looked outstanding hooked to her machine. None of the issue I had were in evidence at all on her machine. So, as a A-B test, I hooked her 2008WFP to my laptop. Again, the thing looked 100000x better hokked to my machine. Apparently this monitor just doesn't play nice with some video card/PC combos. I've tried it both the VGA and HDMI mode, and it has no effect. But switching PC's made a huge impact The monitor is unusable with my setup. So, I'll have to trade it for another model and hope it works better.

Title: Excellent WideScreen HD Monitor
Date: December 25, 2007
ProsCrystal clear bright picture, excellent color and detail reproduction, response time (2 ms) DOES decrease ghosting and undesirable effects in gaming, beautiful overall design. The built in camera is an unexpected bonus. I didn't expect to get any use out of it, but with the software package it makes it a fun and useful addition without compromising the appearance of the monitor. This monitor has become my home entertainment system. HD DVD's play extremely well with crisp clarity. Paired with a wonderful set of speakers and a comfortable chair, you can't go wrong with this monitor as your main visual setup. Multiple signal inputs are also a big plus. ConsAs with all LCD monitors, side lighting shows up on a completely black screen. I wish the native resolution were slightly higher, but most people will find it more than sufficient. (I personally like small icons and tight text, but that's a programmer's perspective.) At certain angles black text appears slightly off-color and jagged. Viewed straight on this is not an issue.
Review:This is a very good buy; great value! The market for widescreen HD monitors (mostly for home/consumer use) is competetive and this monitor is well priced to fit that market. The features make it a desirable buy as well as a wonderful investment whether you are a high-end PC user or you're a regular internet browser. I did not purchase any additional products with this monitor (sound bar, wall mount, etc...). I believe that money would be better invested in a good 2.1 sound system or other peripheral device. This is a wonderful product and a fantastic purchase. I couldn't be happier.

Title: Only the best!
Date: December 25, 2007
ProsGreat picture, HDMI input, Webcam, Blue LED at the bottom right on buttons, no ghosting at ALL, no dead pixels, no stray pixels, 4 USB ports, HUGE SCREEN. I went directly from a 17" CRT monitor to this one, and WHOA its huge and really is the best monitor, in my opinion. Had a great price too, so heck, I just went ahead and bought it! ConsText on the screen, in iTunes and such, seems a little pixely. Not a big con, but still...
Review:This is a really great monitor, buy it!

Title: You get what you pay for
Date: December 23, 2007
ProsBig screen. Good color reproduction. Nice design. Built-in webcam and mic. Inexpensive. ConsGlossy finish. Highest resolution is the same as in 20" models (1680x1050) which means that the pixels are larger, and, trust me, it is noticeable. Text is hard to read. Screen is splotchy, bleed-thrus at top and bottom. Too bright. Brighter on the sides than in the center.
Review:I was looking forward to get this monitor and when I got it I was pretty disappointed. I'm a programmer and this monitor is definitely not the one I would be able to spend a lot of time in front. My brother owns the UltraSharp 2007WFP and it is way better, you can't even compare. No wonder it's more expensive. It has the S-IPS panel, not the cheap TN. I returned the SP2208WFP and ordered this one instead. At least I'm almost sure I'll be happy this time. I did want 22" but looks like Dell doesn't have any good monitor of this size. They all come with this cheap TN panel. I'm also a gamer and let me tell you, games don't look any better on this monitor than on those with slower response time. Don't fall for the 2ms response time and 2000:1 contrast ratio. Unfortunately it's far from being truth.

Title: Amazing monitor
Date: December 23, 2007
ProsThis monitor is absolutely fantastic. I saw the 20' version at one of the kiosks in the mall and decided the 22' would be the same but bigger and it was worth it to get the bigger one. The Truelife technology, the same on their laptop screens is gorgeous. The colors on photos and movies absolutely pop. The built in webcam and mic work well as well. It also has 2 USB ports on the left side which are useful so I dont have to keep bending down to my tower on the floor. ConsOnly has DVI and VGA, and it would be nice to have other video inputs but thats a small issue.
Review:The picture quality is amazing and that is the whole point of a monitor. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

Title: Not good! Look to another 22" model!
Date: December 22, 2007
ProsBlue LED in panel. That's it! ConsWashed out colors. Edges of screen brighter than center. Brightness and Contrast does not work well. Auto Image feature causes pixelated fonts. Non-adjustable height/swivel. Glare from highly reflective screen. Blacks are not true BLACK on this LCD, it's grey.
Review:This is my seventh Dell Monitor. I have five at my office that my employees use and 2 @ home (2008WFP). Compared to all of them, this one is by far, SUB PAR. I am quite frankly pretty disappointed in Dell for producing this model. Especially compared with the great color and contrast and true black color from the 2008WFP. The negative reviews are all true! Trust me, I have adjusted everything and then some with my graphics card interface as well. Turning OFF the "color management (on by default)" is the only was to make the fonts not look pixelated on screen. But the edges of the screen are so that the backlighting is leaking through the edges. As I am typing this review on this monitor, I am quite annoyed with the either-too-dim-that-white-looks-gray or so-bright-that-your-eyes-start-to-burn setting choices. Oh, BTW, have I mentioned that in ANY setting, the colors look washed out? I am exchanging this for the 2208WFP (the bigger sibling of the one I had before that is now in another room). I've got my fingers crossed.
