Title: Solid Monitor at a Good Price Date: June 11, 2008
ProsPicture is sharp and colors are bright and true. I really wanted an Ultra-Sharp, but the price on this one was much lower and this is still an execllent monitor.

Review:Next time, I'd look for built-in microphone and speakers to save room on my desk. This is a lot smaller than the CRT monitor it replaces, but it's still a big monitor.

Title: Can't never get the color right! Date: June 2, 2008
Pros?
ConsI bought this monitor to replace my old 19" Planner digital LCD monitor. I am using GeForce 6200 graphic card that I have already had in my PC. As many have pointed out, the color of this monitor changes with a slightly different viewing angel. I also have problem with the overall image/color combination. It makes my eyes hurt. I tried to adjust brightness, contrast, color, etc., but could never get it right. Worse, after the adjustment, the color changes when I scroll!
I am using this monitor at work, not for game, so the task is not very demanding. All I want is a bigger monitor so I can have more area to display. But this monitor is causing me headache, I am thinking about changing back to my old 19"!

ProsThin bezel, attractive design.
ConsExtremely poor image quality. Making any side-to-side head movement distorts the colors. Looking down at the screen makes whites appear green and looking up at it makes white turn pink. Not even usable for any design, print or photography work.

The out of the box color quality is also very poor. I had to calibrate the monitor using a Spyder calibrator. The calibration settings greatly improved the color, but did not stop the colors from being distored from indirect viewing angles. And when I say indirect viewing angles I mean 2-3 inches off center.

I was running 2 - 8500GT video card.

Review:I have ordered the UltraSharp 2408 monitors which have been reviewed as having far superior image quality. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for!

I attached a photo of the color issue from a hard viewing angle. The banding is is not an issue, it is from the refresh.

Title: Best Quality with a good price tag Date: May 18, 2008
ProsThis monitor is the sharpest in the world!!! I upgraded from a Samsung 22" 225BW to this and it definitely eats the Samsung for lunch!!! Videos and games are so amazing on this screen. I pair it with a Powercolor ATI Radeon HD2900XT 512MB graphics card and it is sooo awesome. This is the perfect display for my Xeon "Harpertown" Workstation that I have at home. A graphic designer/3D modeller's dream!
ConsI had to set the color settings to R=89 G=92 and B=97 to ge the colors just right. With factory settings, the colors were way off. But at this setting, the clarity is incredible. Be aware to check your color settings before you start using this monitor and the above settings are what I recommend for the color settings. This monitor is definitely worth the money especially after you fine tune the color settings....

ProsDell quality, excellent picture resolution. Overall a very nice monitor at a reasonable price.
ConsThe monitor could have a little more tilt angle range, but is acceptable.

Review:I did have to make some setting adjustments to get the picture quality to what i like. Very simple to do. Yet my wife says it has to much red and my daughter says it is not enough red. Enough said.

Title: Nice monitor for the money Date: May 8, 2008
ProsFantastic price point for the money.
Much better color range and decent size. Would have prefered a 30", but no one has bought it for me yet.
Nice appearance. Very clean... no USB, card readers, speakers, etc..., to detract from the monitor. I have my own stereo system and don't like paying for stuff I'll never use. Better packaging than my older monitor had (bigger monitor in a box about half the size).
No dead pixels (only one on my older Dell)
ConsViewing angle is pretty bad. No where near as good as my older 20" Dell (but I paid less than half for my 24"). Buttons don't feel as solid as the my older Dell... will see how they hold up.
Would have liked an HDMI/Display Port on it, but for the price I understand.
My younger brother will be upset when our mom get's the 20".

Review:Doesn't raise up, but it's only a problem due to the viewing angle. I hadn't given it a thought because my older Dell LDC had a great viewing angle.
I typically buy for my family (or they get the hand-me-downs), so if someone wanted an recommendation, I'd suggest this monitor over a cheaper odd-name brand because Dell has consistently been on top of the game with their LCD's (aside from some button problems with an older line).

Title: I gave this one to my Parents Date: May 6, 2008
ProsIt is good for them given their age, and they do love it with no complaints. I have always used Dell Monitors, I still have a 19" that came with a PC about 5 years ago and is still a great monitor.
ConsNot the one I use, this was as I said a gift.

Review:I have two of the UltraSharp 2408WFP 24-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor with Height Adjustable Stand, outstanding features on my XPS 720 SLI system, did not attach the speaker(s) not needed, one of my buddies had a 22" Viewsonic, after using mine for a few hours, he promptly bought a E248WFP 24-inch for himself. Said he did not need the bells & whistles.

ProsExcellent monitors. Purchased three of these for a triple monitor display system, they are amazing. Well worth the money. I've owned prior dell lcd monitors in the past and they are 100% reliable. Excellent price.
ConsNone that I can think of considering the options they have provided. If you want a higher end model with all the fancy features, go for the Ultrasharp 2408.

Title: Big Bang for the Buck Date: April 30, 2008
ProsIt is big!
Good image quality
Good deal for the price
Has both analog and DVI-D connectors
Fast response time
Attractive styling (I love all my Dell monitors!)
ConsAlthough this monitor lacks bells and whistles, I really don't need usb connectors, speakers, etc. and for the price I wouldn't expect much. However I would like a height adjustment. Other than tilt you cannot adjust the screen position. The factory settings were way off the mark and created a horrible and unusable screen image, but after adjusting the brightness, contrast and screen resolution it looks great. For me the so-called native resolution of 1900 x 1200 is way too small for comfort, but I'm in heaven at 1024 x 768.

Title: Very Poor Image Quality Date: April 29, 2008
Pros-Nice silver finish allows it to blend in with the newer Dell monitors
-Built-in webcam
-Lots of USB ports
-Nice size for a decent price
Cons-Text looks terrible
-Image quality unbearable

Review:I had a Dell 27" and a four year old Dell 17" side by side for a couple months, but the older, black 17" didn't fit in nicely beside the newer, silver 27". I purchased the 2208WFP and replaced the 17" with it, and immediately noticed a huge difference. The image quality of the 17" was on par with my brand new 27" and both looked great, but the new 22" looked terrible beside the 27". Black text on any non-white background appeared to have a white outline around it and was hard to read. I adjusted the contrast and brightness settings for a couple hours and even tried using software to help me calibrate the settings. No luck. The text is only crisp and readable when the contrast is set to the maximum 100, but then any light-coloured images that are on a white background are invisible. Reading other reviews of this monitor have stated similar results. I am going to try and return this monitor and go back to my four year old 17".

Title: E248WFP Thoughts and Review Date: April 28, 2008
ProsThis is a basic, no-frills, get-what-you-pay-for 24 inch wide screen monitor that does an acceptable job with everyday tasks such as Web browsing, word processing and picture viewing - once you tweak it out.
ConsThis is not a Dell UltraSharp model, so don't expect it to have the inputs or performance of an UltraSharp. The factory default settings are way off the mark (to bright, to much color saturation, etc.), out of the box so be ready to tweak them almost immediately. I played with the settings for a full weekend before I got the monitor to an acceptable display. The two main issues with this monitor are the fact that it is a "TN" panel - which by design are less expensive to produce and not that clear to begin with regardless of brand - and the Sharpness setting which steps in increments of 10 for some reason instead of 1. So either the picture is slightly fuzzy - until you tweak all the other settings - or to sharp causing slight image ghosting.

Review:While Dell recommends setting the resolution to its maximum, I found that the monitor works best in my case at a resolution of 1320X760, with the brightness and contrast set at around 50% each. Also, be sure to turn on ClearType in windows to improve text readability, and reduce color saturation in the monitor itself to the low 90's. If your video card included an applet to let you make additional tweaks, use it to make additional fine adjustments. The stand lacks a height adjust device, so either pick up a better stand at an auction site for a few dollars, or use some old phone books.

Title: Great when it works Date: April 27, 2008
ProsWhen the monitor works, the image quality is fine.
ConsThis monitor constantly has trouble recognizing the digital output on my ATI video card, with the latest drivers from both Dell and ATI. Upon turning the machine on first thing every morning, I typically need to reboot the computer at least two or three times before the monitor will recognize the video card and display Windows XP. I've gone through all of the knowledgebase troubleshooting to get this to work better with no luck.

Review:This monitor is OK if you're the type of person who never reboots your computer and always leaves it on. Once it has finally recognized the computer, it's fine until the computer is turned off again. Next day you'll need to go through the same problem again.

Title: Very nice monitor Date: April 23, 2008
ProsVery good color after using the comprehensive color adjustments. Also had to do a little tweaking to the BFG 8800 GT-OC graphics card to get an accurate calibration. Very sharp text and solid colors. No shadows or outlines. All games look great after adjustments to the game itself are made.
ConsViewing angles are a little narrow to stay within the accruate color presentation. No support for anything but a 60hz refresh rate which is usually adequate.

Review:Extremely good value. There are better monitors in this size range, but with a good graphics card (or two) I have no arguments. After reading the reviews, I notice that virtually all of the poor results are caused by junk graphics cards and the wrong resolution settings. This display does not look good in ANY resolution other than 1920 x 1200. If you need a flat panel this size to display lower resolutions (better, not great) you should go with the Dell Ultra Sharp since it has a higher quality screen. But still I see no difference between the two when using the native resolution. BTW, who needs USB, speakers or card readers on a monitor anyway?! Just adds to the cost and complexity. This monitor does a better than average job at doing what a pure monitor is designed to do. For the price, it can't be beat.

ProsAmazing price for a 24 " LCD
Impressive design: simple, elegant, and compact
Amazing 1900 x 1200 native resolution
Sharp text and above average image quality
Easy to setup ( One adjustment required: the resolution)
ConsLacks USB ports, speaker, and height adjustment. However this is expected for an entry level 24" monitor. Price is King!

Review:This is my second Dell monitor and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent value and above average quality.
Also, recommend buying the optional speaker bar, it looks great with the monitor.
