Title: Quality better than expected!
Date: July 23, 2007
ProsI liked the fact that it came with a DVI cable. I was afraid I was going to have to buy one on my own. Took less than 5 minutes to set up. ConsDoes not have vertical adjustability. I miss that.
Review:Great product for the money. I would say better (and cheaper) than the brands you can get at the big-chained stores.

Title: Incredible Monitor for the Price
Date: July 13, 2007
Pros+Size +User Friendly +Excellent Image Quality For the Price +Automatic Adjust +Head Tilt +Worth the $$$ +Awesome Resolution Cons-Always Pops Up With the "Automatic Input" Message -Makes a Cracking Noise About Once an Hour or so -No Composite or S-Video Input -Color Banding
Review:I love this monitor! It does have some color banding issues but just set the contrast to around the mid 70% and it should be minimized. I'm a professional photographer (very part-time) and I use this monitor for my image editing and it does just fine. If you're a serious pro that requires only the perfect image editing equipment, this monitor may not be for you, sorry. I also love the high resolution that this thing provides...gives me enough space to have my internet browser or image editing software up, along with my IM windows and/or a small movie playing. Widescreen adds a whole new dimension to multitasking!!! It doesn't bother me at all that the head doesn't swivel. Just move the entire monitor...no big deal! This monitor is probably the best thing you can buy for the money and I am so glad I bought it...no regrets!

Title: Bought it, liked it
Date: July 13, 2007
ProsNice work surface. Runs games really well. Full page document editing when rotated. Check additional thoughts, rotating not built in. ConsNo USB ports, the Dell it replaced had 4.
Review:Bought it to replace a Dell 1703 FP LCD and found I can adapt the monitor to remove some cons. I removed one of the top tabs off my old monitor stand with a grinder and mounted the new monitor on the old stand and the old monitor on the new stand. Now with the old stand I have pan, tilt, height adjustment and can rotate 90 degress to view documents in full page.

Title: Bang for buck, but don't expect quality.
Date: July 8, 2007
ProsLarge viewable image space Black in colour, sleek look Thin Good for gaming, low resp. time ConsImage quality suffers being a 6-bit panel.
Review:Well, being a newbie to monitors at first, I bought the E228WFP seeing it was a good size for its price. It certainly is, but despite this, the monitor's colour representation isn't up to par at all. Being a 6-bit panel which I found out later, my graphic art was rendered quite poorly, especially the gradients. Even my previous 17" was better. I'm really disappointed by this, but I guess this is what I get for cheaping out. I would rather have an S-IPS / PVA panel and a 20" or 24" size rather than the E228WFP. Although it isn't good at all for digital art, it certainly is OK for gaming, and miscellaneous stuff such as videos, etc. If dell were to make a "22xxWFP" - having a better panel tech into a 22" size, I wouldn't mind paying an extra $100 or more for it... but oh well. As a wrap up, I'd say buy the 2007 or 2407 series if you're looking for good colour representation and image quality. - especially if you do a ton of Photoshop... from deviantart, to manga, to wallpapers. Otherwise, the E228WFP does its job as the low-cost to benefit champion for the average user.

Title: Three’s a charm…
Date: June 28, 2007
ProsIt’s big, it doesn’t cost that much, it has a stand that tilts. ConsThe 1st one that they sent me had several lines of pixels missing, and sometimes they would come on, and then go off, which was really annoying. The 2nd one that they sent me had major color/contrast problems. The 3rd one they sent me works wonderfully!
Review:After the 3rd one they sent me, I was happy! I’m loving the 1680 x 1050 widescreen resolution!

Title: Exceptional Value

ProsI am not a computer genius so I was very glad to get this monitor. For those of us who are over 40 and don't see as well as we used to this monitor is GREAT. Very easy to set up and looks great. ConsNone
Review:Last monitor I purchased from Dell was a 17" flat panel and it had 2 USB ports on it and this one has none. My Deminsion E510 has 2 on front of it so it doesnt cause a problem for me but it might be an inconvenience for some. The Pros FAR outweigh the Cons.

Title: Absolutely Awesome!
Date: June 19, 2007
ProsGreat monitor, great picture, great resolution - everything just seems to be great with the monitor. I use it for a mix of a little bit of graphics, and mostly programming and gaming, where the 1680x1050 resolution is wonderful to have. I enjoy it so much, I requested one for my day-job as well. My vision is not remotely close to being 'good', but it is still easy for me to work with the monitor at its maximum resolution. ConsI wish I could squeeze a 1920x1024 resolution out of it, though that would admittedly make things too small to work with. It makes me want to go all out and get one of the 24" to 30" monitors, but I don't have the money for that yet. ;-)
Review:It may cost a little more than other brand monitors, but the quality makes the additional cost well worth it for me. Also, using Ubuntu Linux, having multiple workspaces with the 1680x1050 resolution is really fantastic! You can download tools (or depending on your video card, use your video card manufacturer's supplied driver) to make this happen on Windows, but you don't get the preview or the elegant animations when switching between workspaces.

Title: It's ok...
Date: June 15, 2007
ProsCost, no glare, looks nice on desk, great response time. ConsContrast ration too low for "view anywhere" gaming. Contrast varies slightly from top to bottom makeing it difficult at times while gaming. Not really a "gaming" monitor.
Review:Cost. That was the big pro. I had never owned any sort of lcd monitor except the 4" display on my camcorder but always wanted to. So this being my first LCD ever, I rate it as average. The display while looking straight on is fine, but moveing a foot from the center position starts to bother the eyes. I sometimes recline(so im viewing the monitor as if I were stareing up at it) and the picture gets noticeably darker, not only that, its a gradual effect. So what I mean is the top is totally dark and it get lighter towards the bottom. Another big pro is no glare. With my old CRT I had to position the monitor away from the sun and windows had to have dark curtains or gaming experience was ruined. I think this monitor would be great for anything other than gaming or graphics editing. It's cons are minor though even for gaming but had I the chance to rethink it, I would have paid the extra 100-150 bucks and went with the ultrasharp.

Title: Exactly what I needed!
Date: May 30, 2007
ProsI need a lot of screen on a crowded desktop (4 monitors, three computers, all heavily used). This monitor has no wasted space, like speakers on the side or a wide frame. I can view two windows side-by-side on this monitor with good legibility. I had to turn the brightness down to about 75% so it doesn't overwhelm my other LCD monitors. The price was also quite good, fitting into my budget with room to spare. ConsI wish I could lower the monitor more. Not a huge problem, though.
