ProsThis monitor displays a vividly clear picture and reduces eye strain. It's ready to go right out of the box and conveniently and moderatley priced. ConsNo integrated speakers and limited turning radius for comfortable viewing. Also, five week build and ship time seemed excessive as other manufacturers' 22" monitors were in stock at various on-line retailers
Review:I purchased this monitor as a gift after closely reviewing numerous reviews in computer magazines and on C-Net. It was rated best for the price range I was looking at and all-in-all I think it is a very good buy and worth the money if you're only looking for basic features in a monitor. However, for $20 more I could have purchased a 22" ViewSonic monitor with integrated stereo speakers and now feel the extra $20 would have been worth it.

Pros- clarity for someone not doing graphics intense work - easy set up - sharp design, clean look - widescreen - feels substantial Cons- can't seem to get it to go into energy saving mode
Review:It's amazing how much nicer it is to do work. To have two docs side by side is a breath of fresh air. No more ALT TABing to death. I love the resolution. I researched these forever (I'm a n a l) and for the price (got it for 269) the value was unbeatable. My friend has the 24 inch ultrasharp which is super nice but he's an engineer working on circuit board design so he needs the clarity that a few hundred more dollars will buy. If you're a desk jockey who likes an occasional game or looking at photos, this monitor will not let you down.

Title: Very pleased!
Date: October 8, 2007
ProsLovely display for my budget. ConsNone that relate to the display quality. Height and swivel adjustments would be desirable for some buyers but that omission is not an issue for my application.
Review:As my first flat panel display since abandoning CRTs this model is perfect for my needs. The decision was made based on reputable technically oriented reviews, price, discount and free shipping at the time of order. The competing Samsung got better reviews but only with a certain panel manufacturer which could not be determined with certainty until after purchase. The lesser Samsung panels require elaborate calibration schemes to be competitive. Samsung doesn't address the issue on their website which is no way to run a business. On the other hand the Dell reputation is stellar and this panel's second place rating next to a questionable first for a similarly priced unknown entity made the decision easy. Not available to be shipped as advertised on the site but the display was shipped as promised after the purchase. My satisfaction after the disappointment of the delay more than offsets it. No dead pixels. Good job! Thanks.

ProsImage quality is great. The bleed over spoken about here is not very noticeable. No dead pixels. Fantastic value for the money. ConsWould be nice if it had USB ports. Getting it to work in full resolution with Ubuntu linux has been a challenge.

Title: 22" of goodness
Date: October 2, 2007
ProsUse this as an auxiliary analog monitor at work and it's great. Very clear and the resolution is "just right" in terms of not being so small in native resolution that it needs to be downsized to work for someone w/ 30-something eyesight. The wide workspace is good for keeping Outlook up and running while I work on the laptop screen. Also looks terrific for gaming; played Halo3 on it over the weekend and it makes me want to buy one for home. Nice choice compared to the other monitors we've purchased at work that have screwy resolutions. For the price, it just can't be beat. We will buy more of these for sure as it would be great for GIS and CAD applications too. ConsIt's not adjustable for height or pivot left and right, but that's not a surprise, but it's something to be aware of before you click "checkout".

Title: Great widescreen panel for the price!
Date: October 2, 2007
ProsNice, bright, well defined picture. BEAUTIFUL if you take the time to set up the brightness/contrast/color balance. Response time is low enough to get some good gaming done. Puts my old CRT to shame! ConsIf only they made 1920x1200 panels in this size... Gaming at 1680 x 1050 made me realize I had to buy an expensive new graphics card. ;)
Review:If I had a bigger desk, I'd buy two more for surround gaming excellence!

Title: Great 'bang for the buck'
Date: September 27, 2007
ProsPrice, Size, and Image quality. The Price is hard to be beat (5 stars) for 1680x1050. This is a very good size at 22" and good choice of resolution at 1680x1050. If you go any higher resolution than that you need a significantly more powerful video card. Image quality is good (4 stars), using this new monitor with VGA only (new laptop only has VGA) compared to my old monitor, a 20" Dell Ultrasharp 2000FP with DVI seems about the same. This monitor is a little brighter, but the old one was slightly more clear (although this is likely due to VGA rather than DVI connection). Built in power transformer (no big power 'brick') ConsBiggest con is stand is not height adjustable at all and is very 'low' (1 star - features), it definitely should have been at least 1" to 1.5" taller, I'm 6"2' and I need the monitor a full 2.75" taller to be the right height, I can't imagine the current height fits very many people (I have had ergonomic measurements taken and know the exact height I need my monitor, to approximate for yourself the 'top edge' of your monitor should be at eye level while sitting up straight). Unfortunately the stand on my old Ultrasharp is proprietary and the slot doesn't fit with this monitor. No extras such as USB hub or power port for soundbar (it has a slot for soundbar, but no power connection to supply power to it). I expected no extras like the hub & power port, and I knew it wasn't height adjustable - but I had no idea how far off from 'proper height' it was.
Review:I highly recommend monitor risers at the least or spending the extra money to buy a 3rd party monitor stand. Even if you pay $50 for a monitor stand (you can find many adjustables at this price, and possibly even a desk clamp style for $50 - $75), the monitor is still a good value. Factor in the cost of raising the monitor up as part of your purchasing decision. I rated the 'stand' as part of a feature (1 star for features) rather than design, because you can easily change out the stand. I couldn't decide if the stand was a 'feature' or a 'design' element, and ended up with feature.

Title: Horrible for graphics
Date: September 25, 2007
ProsCheap ConsThis monitor has no contrast and everything seems washed out. There is also a very noticeable fade in brightness from the top of the screen to the bottom. Colors seem completely different at the top of the the screen that at the bottom. The view angle is horrible, and the fact that there is no adjustable stand makes it worse.
Review:This monitor may be sufficient for simple tasks like word processing or surfing the web, but not if you need colors portrayed accurately. If you work in graphics or publishing, spend the extra $100 and something other than this budget piece of junk.

Title: Not too bad for the $$$$$$
Date: September 24, 2007
Pros#1 pro for this monitor, dvi cable comes with it. My video card has both dvi and regular 15 pin connection. I use both w/two monitors with no conflict. Pretty good flat panel. Thinking about getting a second one. Consnot enough tilt, up or down, cant lay in bed watching dvd, have to sit up, grrrrrrrrrrrr
Review:Well.....I would say the price outweigh the cons. Would I buy another one? Yes I would.

Title: Quality and priced right
Date: September 24, 2007
ProsThis monitor is big enough to put up two full pages and work from them both. Let's me work without having to switch screens. For gaming it has shown to be very responsive. Don't see any flaws and it was easy to install and setup. ConsHave not found any "real" cons - would like an adjustable stand, but that is minor
Review:I highly recommend this monitor - I decided on a 22" to get a little bit more real estate and am glad I did. For me I can look at the center of it and notice everything on the screen using peripheral vison - so any movement in a game is caught ;-)

ProsThis monitor is crisp and clear and well worth the money. The small footprint makes it a great desktop monitor for any purpose. I would recommend this monitor to any one who works on computers for hours at a time. Good Job, Dell! ConsIf there is any drawback to this monitor is its hight adjustment, there isnt any. this is truly the only issue with this monitor that i can find. I over came this by placing it on a phone book to give me the extra two inches i wanted at my desk.

Title: Excellent desktop monitor - when properly adjusted
Date: September 18, 2007
Pros- Plenty of desktop real estate for viewing applications and web pages without constant need to scroll left and right (web sites have gone so crazy with graphics and embedded videos these days that standard 1024x768 resolution just can't display most web pages' entire width anymore - the main reason I decided to buy a bigger monitor). - Nice, crisp text - just as clear when leaning back as when leaning in - allows long sessions without eye strain. - Fast response time - absolutely no flicker. - Great, ultra-clean look - thin, even-sized bezel on all sides doesn't waste any space. Cons- Many adjustment options unavailable when connected thru DVI cable to digital video output (even the Auto Adjust feature only works with analog connection) - leaving only brightness & contrast and RGB colour values adjustable. - Factory settings too bright, imposing frightful pink tinge upon all things grey, muddy gradients - difficult to adjust. - Might be true of all wide-screen monitors, but there is no resolution setting that my graphics card (nVidia GeForce 7300) can use in combination with this monitor that does not distort the aspect ratio of my photos. Media Player seems to adjust video aspect ratios properly (at least, they look OK), but all my photos are either ridiculously squeezed together or stretched wide. Have settled on 1280x960 (native 1680x1060 produces text much too small for my eyes to read without using Windows' problematic Large Font setting), which produces the least distortion, but photos are still a bit "fatter" than they should be.
Review:Lots here complain about lack of adjustable stand and no USB ports. To me, so what. Stand is already optimal height for my desktop (for once, the stand's not so tall that I have to bend my head back to look at the monitor), and it tilts back and forth, which is all I need it to do. And what do I need USB ports for on my monitor? Already got 6 of them on my computer, where I can plug things in without having a bunch of cords sprouting all over my desktop.
Yes, there is backlight bleed around the edges (never seen an LCD monitor that didn't have it), but it's only noticeable when screen is all black. Yes, the viewing angle is overstated in the specs: this monitor is no good for looking at when you're standing up or moving two feet to the left or right but, like most people, I have no reason to use it under those conditions. There is no distortion or lack of clarity while sitting in front of it, no matter how far I move my head or shift in my chair.
Have not watched DVDs extensively, but the videos I have watched show none of the ghosting or colour bleed that other reviewers have mentioned. Also, there is none of the variation in colour accuracy between various areas of the screen that other reviewers have pointed out (again, probably a matter of adjusting the settings correctly).
The bottom line is the monitor's settings are difficult to adjust (took me two days of fiddling and figuring out that the colour innaccuracies - like the pink hues - need to be corrected with the brightness and contrast controls, NOT the colour controls) but, once set properly, the colours are fine - even in photos and videos. Got this on sale here for $229 - definitely great bang for the buck.

Pros-Bought two on sale at $269/ea.; the price is superb for the quality -Out of the box, both monitors work perfectly. No dead pixels, excellent color, extremely clean and clear -Backlight is so minimal on black screens in a dark room, I don't know why some reviewers complained about it Cons-Could use a more flexible stand, although I keep mine stationary and could care less.
Review:It looks fantastic every way I look at it, and the PS3 games on it are breathtaking.
