Title: S-Video adapter
|
Date: May 27, 2009
|
Product Uses: Gaming
Review:That funny S-Video looking thing on the side of my M1730 is now pumping audio through the SPDIF portion of this adapter.
No more cables getting in the way of the optical drive.
Works perfectly!

Title: it works
|
Date: January 15, 2009
|
ProsThe video out works perfectly with my Insprion 6400. It looks great and allows me to output hd video to my tv's without VGA ports. I took a chance on this cable because the 6400 does have the 9-pin s-video out. I am happy it worked!
ConsFunky colors if I don't use the ATI software, although I may not be doing something properly.
Review:I have the ATI x1300 card in my 6400 and I have to choose a tv option as the second monitor for this to work. For me the Fn+F8 does nothing with this attached. This is now my media center, playing hd content with no problems. I have not tried the rca spdif because I don't anything with that connector, I don't see why it wouldn't work though.

Title: Heray for HD
|
Date: December 15, 2008
|
ProsCan now watch movies and play video games on my big HD TV.
ConsI get a random distortion bar that sometimes tracks across my screen.
Review:Not all programs let you watch video on multiple screens so find a hack or a better program. Also, If you have Netflix, you can watch the movies on your TV as long as you start the film on just your laptop screen and then switch to the TV.

|
Date: September 23, 2008

ProsPrice Function (Enables HD Output to TV) Mainly the Price!!
ConsNone that I can think of
Review:Did what it was supposed to do. Output an HD signal from my E1505 to my HDTV and the picture was beautiful. I haven't tested the SPDIF output yet but hope to shortly.

Title: Works with Inspiron 1525
|
Date: August 19, 2008
|
ProsWorks for spdif sound output.
ConsCosts nearly $20 with shipping. Should be standard equipment.
Review:Unfortunately Dell does not seem to be aware that this can work with the Inspiron laptops. They told me to buy a USB sound card but I tried this dongle anyway. It works flawlessly.

Title: A bigger screen :)
|
Date: January 28, 2008
|
ProsThis item works great on the Inspiron 1720, easily connecting to the component video inputs on the tv, and the picture and audio are great!
ConsVery limited instructions on how to get the laptop to properly work with the device (the SPDIF portion was a little bit of a headache)
Review:This should be listed as an accessory for all notebooks that can use it, rather than just the one that it is tied to in the search list...it took forever to find exactly what i was looking for inside the dell site.

Title: S-Video to TV Component Cable with SPDIF for M1210
|
Date: May 16, 2007
|
ProsEven though the adapter is labeled for the XPS M1710, it works well with the XPS M1210. Using the Nvidia Geforce Go 7400 video card, I was successful in getting hi definition resolution of 1920x1080i or 1700x1000 resolution via component video to my hi def TV using custom resolutions via Powerstrip. I was able to make it work in both clone mode and extended desktop mode. The SPDIF part of the cable works well passing Dolby Digital and DTS signals without problems. For $10.99 shipped, it is a bargain. I can use my M1210 laptop as my backup HTPC...yeh!!
ConsThe 7 pin "S-Video" connector portion fits very tightly to the laptop. Only a negative if you accidentally bend the pins if not careful.
Review:Worth every penny but should have been included with the laptop.
