I just got my 1250c and it excels in the three criteria I demand. 1) Price was reasonable for the product. 2)Easy out of box set up (no calls to CS) and 3) The printer operates beautifully. I have had numerous printers in the past and almost each one had some sort of problem. Not the Dell color laser 1250c. If you are shopping for a home color laser printer I would recommend this one.

Excellent Printer
PostedFebruary 13, 2013
Yes, I would recommend this product
This is a very good value: very low price, rather high quality printout, and reasonably fast printout, with color being nearly as fast as all-black. The double-sided printout capability is wonderful, though of course it is the low-cost type that requires that you insert the paper a second time, and in the correct direction.
You can't access the printer from a network by itself, but if you plug it into a networked computer, you can access it from any other computer on the network. If the computer you plug it into is left on, and hooked up to the internet, you can access the printer from anywhere that you have internet connectivity.
The software that comes with it offers very detailed control over many aspects of the printer. My complaint about the software is that the menu structure and nomenclature can be confusing. But the extensive features work excellently, once you figure out what each is supposed to do, and how to get to it. The chm help files covers everything, but don't go into quite enough detail.
One issue is that the original toner cartridges are low-yield and the cost of genuine Dell replacement cartridges is high. However if you buy generic high-yield cartridges, you pay only about 1/3 of what you would for genuine Dell high-yield cartridges. Most of these include the toner-use-counting chip. However if your new cartridges doesn't have the toner-chip, you can still use it; there is a software setting that allows you to override the setting that shuts down the printer when it is reporting it is out of toner, or when it it is not reporting anything about the toner. Although the setting isn't named very aptly in the software nor is its purpose described very clearly in the help files. I have not had any problem with the generic cartridge I bought. So cost of toner is very competitive, if you do it this way. If you don't mind the mess and the time, you can also easily refill the original cartridges with generic toner, saving slightly more money.
Some say there is a risk of damaging the printer by using generic cartridges or toner, but given that a set of genuine Dell cartridges costs about twice as much as the printer, and 3 times as much as generic cartridges, if you should damage the printer by using generic cartridges, and have to buy a new printer - you still come out ahead financially!
The cartridges are very easy to replace. Just swing open the cover, squeeze the retainer and pull the old one straight out, then push the new one straight in until it snaps into place. Nothing difficult to line up, no special swinging arcs to follow, just straight out, straight in. It literally is a snap.
Printer makes it easy I bring double-sided color printouts to work to provide instructions to helpers. It doesn't take me long to print them out.
Pros:low cost

This is the worst printer I've ever purchased. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. No matter what operating system you run, your computer will never recognize it. I always have to unplug the USB and then replug it in to get it to print.

No, I do not recommend this product.
The printer is quality is great however the paper jams or flashes an error message after printing every couple of sheets. Can only get it to print full size sheets so it is not good for scrapbooking, envelopes, or misc. craft projects. I also cannot get it to print on cardstock which is frustrating! The quality of the printing is awesome it just does not perform well.

Be ready to buy toner cartridges
PostedNovember 6, 2012
No, I do not recommend this product.
I am a strong believer in Dell products, I only buy Dell computers and printers for my home/business. That being said I would recommend that you not buy this printer. The print jobs are of good quality for a low priced printer but it goes through ink like crazy. I have had my printer for a couple of months, have printed one and a half reams of paper (approx 375 sheets) and just had to purchase my first cartridge for the printer. This is by far the worst Dell product I have ever purchased. Spend a little more money and save the money in ink costs. I love the Dell 3100cn that I own. Spend the money for a better quality printer, I wish I had.

No, I do not recommend this product.
Pros : Easy to setup. Easy on space.
Cons : Takes long to print (very slow) Can only handle a few prints at a time. Sometimes stops printing, gets jammed. Small paper tray Very noisy Requires USB connection (no wifi)
I would not recommend it for office or business use. It may do okay for home use with light printing.
If you are looking for a heavy duty printer that can print seamlessly/without problems this is not going to do a good job.
Pros:domestic

Review 7 for Dell - 1250c Color LED Laser-Class Printer
I was checking out the reviews and I saw that most of the customers was having problems with the alignment for the printer. When I first set up the printer (which was very easy to do) and printed a document, I noticed that the alignment was off also.
TO FIX THIS ISSUE: you have to select the "fit" option and select the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" box.
The printer will automatically detect the page layout and print the document as desired. Hope this helps.
Pros:personal

Review 8 for Dell - 1250c Color LED Laser-Class Printer
Nice size, prints fairly good but not perfect. Has some lines in the image occasionally. I can not get the registration grid or image to adjust using any computer with the software that came with my printer and/or the latest downloaded version from Dell. I need the image to move to the right by 1/8 th of an inch as it prints too far the the left edge of the paper. The help manual does not say much about using the adjustments to get the grid adjustments to move. The replacement toner cartridges are rather expensive for the larger printing capacity (1400 page) size. Overall I like the footprint and height size. Setup was easy right out of the box. Now if I can just get the software to make the adjustments of where the image prints, I think I will be happy. I also wish this would automatically print on both sides without having to manually flip the paper back into the paper bin. But for the price...who's complaining.
Pros:printing documents while rv traveling

Just received today. Easy to unpack, set up and start using. A little slower than what I am accustomed to but the print quality is superb, almost as good as the larger Dell 3110 that I use in the home office. A good choice, a respectable price and a good value.
Pros:product brochure printing, label printing

A Dell sales rep recommended this product (1250c color printer). She also told me it was a copier and a scanner. Why wouldn't I believe her? It is only a printer. It prints when it wants to. Sometimes you have to turn it off/on several times to get it going. We learned of the new for a new toner when a light went on and you could not print anything else. No advance warning. No nothing. Unbelievable!!!

Review 15 for Dell - 1250c Color LED Laser-Class Printer
For the price, this is an excellent printer. Though it may not be an all-in-one device, it prints text and color images beautifully and conserves toner well. Case in point, I recently printed two full-page copies of an 820-page manuscript (a total of 1640 pages) on a 700-page black toner cartridge, and I still haven't depleted the cartridge's reserve, which remains at 25% of its initial volume. Though the manuscript was printed in "toner saving mode," the quality of the text did not suffer in any way and the toner dried quickly without any smudging. This printer's toner cartridges print beyond their advertised limits, so it is an even better bargain than it is advertised to be. To those who have expressed frustration over excessive toner consumption and jamming problems, both of which I have never encountered, remember these two things: (1) always check the "toner saver mode" box in the printing preferences tab every time you print something such as simple text, since this box is unchecked by default and (2) always always bend a paper stack back and forth along the middle of the length of the sheets before depositing them in the printer: this is an age-old technique that prevents jamming and does NOT crease the paper in any way.
I highly recommend this printer to anyone who wants to save money on toner, without sacrificing quality, and who wants a handsome printer that performs its tasks flawlessly for the price of an all-in-one inkjet.
Pros:office, manuscript printing

The bad part regarding the 1250C printer is that the sales person told me it would do everything that my Dell All-in-one printer 924 would do. Since that model is no longer available she said the 1250C would do the same thing. Wrong. I cannot copy any items nor can I scan a document. If you run an office you need these features. I am not totally happy. The good part is that it makes good copies from my computer. Dell products are always good and stand up well over the years.

I went with the printer for ease of set up with my New Dell XPS 8300. I had problems with the setup, and had I known, I would not have bought this printer. It works now. Also, be advised that this is an inkjet, so it has been demoted to my second, back up printer, not my workhorse. Works fine, once up and running.

This printer is great if all you want to do is print 8.5x11 sheets of paper. Printing envelopes or even half sheets of paper, you will get an error after every single print. Then you are forced to press CANCEL to get the next print job. Two hours with Tech Support who also remote-controlled into our computer could not figure it out. Their conclusion was that it was the driver and this printer can only do "basic tasks." Printing an envelope and half sheets of 8.5x11 paper seems pretty simple, but I guess it's too complex for this printer.

Dell 1250c Color LED Laser-Class Printer

Yes, I would recommend this product
The Dell 1250c is a suitable match for individuals hunting for a single-function laser printer that can output black and color documents in a light-duty printing environment. Its $150 retail price puts it in the same price category as all-in-one multifunction inkjet printers that can fax, copy, and scan along with printing, but if you can't stand waiting for ink to dry, and don't mind a slight drop-off in image print quality, the Dell 1250c's quick output and crisp laser text and graphics are good and affordable option.
The Dell 1250c color laser printer's compact frame makes sense for users in a confined space, but its lack of Ethernet and wireless connectivity limits its appeal for networked offices
Pros: The setup is easy and delivers high-resolution documents in black as well as color.
Cons: The printer can only connect to one computer at a time through a USB port in the pack, lacking Ethernet and Wi-Fi networking.
